I got so bored with plain old t-shirts, so I loved the new, collared, Polo knit tops instead, they’re a lot more chic and polished, plus the collar adds attractive angles, a V-neck when open, and brings the eye up to the face. I also love some of the sleeveless, collared linen shirts with defined shoulders. Banana Republic makes a cute one I just got, and it hides that unattractive bit of creased underarm area that is called “tissue” in the modeling biz, but is super-cool to wear. I’ve gradually built up a summer capsule of linen clothes to wear over the summers. It’s already too hot where I live to wear anything else. It’s nice to have enough choices, finally. Linen dresses are my go-to, with a light, unlined linen or cotton blazer for cool mornings and evenings (I always feel frumpy in cardigans, so they’re just for home). lightweight cotton can be too hot for me since menopause, and even though it’s been years, there’s no sign that the hot flashes are going away (age 64, California).
WOW! That's so unfortunate that you're still getting the hot flashes. I've been using the hormone patches and they have been amazing and have completely cut out all of my hot flashes. Have you tried anything similar?
I'm glad you mentioned jorts because I have three on rotation here in retirement in Mexico. I have a dark wash, a light wash, and white and it's all I'm wearing outside of lightweight dresses.
Thank you it's a denim shirt and I have been wearing it a lot. I even layer long sleeve tees underneath. You can check it out here if you'd like to: rstyle.me/+H1U_UWZPOwoNJMWlcsrwPQ
Loved seeing the Karen Walker tortoiseshell sunglasses. I have her classic tortoiseshell wayfarers and still get compliments and they are about 15 years old now. True timeless style.
I love the lace skirt outfit and recently thifted a vintage lace skirt. I can just wear biker shorts under it with my guns and roses tank top and my black gray wash wrangler denim shirt 😊
Sounds super 🆒️〰️esp. paired w/Converse high tops for a playful attitude. Ballet flats for a more formal feminine take. 😉Like the "modesty shield" the lace covering provides for the body-con bike shorts. Also adore a short skort, but the longer versions seem way too bulky ↔️. Prefer the idea of a unbuttoning the center placket on a midi skirt & wearing color coordinated slim bike shorts underneath as a modern take on vintage beachy playsuit. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
Hmm! That’s how I feel about fashion jewelry lol…also fun or frilly socks and tights, such an affordable and essential thing to collect. But these are just things I leave on…not removable. But sunglasses or cardigan are the removable things I wear. 🙂 scarves are neat if ones natural at wearing em! (I am not lol).
Love your vids! Please could you do a video on how to integrate/style summer pieces into winter outfits?? - for those of us currently going through the coldddd....... and still wanting to make use of the dainty summer pieces instead of having to wait half a year.
Thank you for your videos! I am studying Fashion Design right now and have a great idea for a website so yea this is good for me to research so again Thx!!!
Just gave away my lace maxi skirt I had for a while it was such a beautiful skirt I've had for over 10 years that unfortunately became slightly a bit small ... trends come and go, which is why most times i dont give away certain clothing
Good trends, nice video. Would you consider making some more video's for us "more mature" women, with more matured ways to wear these trends... everything looks aaaamazing on my 17 year old, and I love to see her dress up, but I don't want to look/dress like her. So while she loves great with those transparent long lace skirts or dresses with corsets over... not for me anymore... but a broderie anglaise long maxi skirt and matching shorter top with a little smock on the back let me enjoy several of the current trends, looks classy and not like I am trying too hard. Sometimes it.s little things like the fabric, the cut or the overall proportions, but some things just looks better on "young ones".. Like Ca$$ie the other day presented a pair of long diesel wide shorts with some lace, and I went straight to the site since I thought they were amazing... but when I really looked at them, they had a couple of things that made me conclude "great for xx (17 year old), but not for that price.." - not sure exactly why, because I went there to look for them for me - maybe the fabric was a little thin, the lace looked a little synthetic and they would be difficult to style... and for 370$... nope... We don't want to look mumu or like we have decided to not care any longer, but not silly either 😅You always have a great fresh style that is at the same time fashion "relevant" but adjusted to you.. I think we are many looking for great over 50 style, so would be good if you could make some more video's about this and also share how you make your picks for yourself and how you style them... Thanks ❤
Just because I’m over 50 doesn’t mean I can’t wear trends it just means I have to adapt them to what I feel comfortable in. For me lace skirts with nothing under them are a definite NO (no need to advertise my big knickers😂) but with an underskirt then why not! Fancy skirts look great with casual tops, jumpers and trainers and means you get more wears than saving them for ‘best’.
Denim shorts are a basic and never go out of style. The lace skirts really are for the 25 and under crowd, but they are fun to see here. I keep this in mind, if I wore it in the 80's or 90's then it is best to avoid it.
About the lace skirts, do agree as recently made a skirt for one of my grand daughters who just turned eighteen and we got the fabric in the window covering section at the fabric store I frequent. 🤫
Like everything that you covered here except for the scarf over a baseball cap, it something that I will be doing this summer. That old woman matronly and I sure don't consider Bieber a fashion icon by no means. It a look that old women wear and wore back in the days to help keep their hat on, such an homage to Queen Elisabeth vibe. I am already old don't need to play around with something like that. I already do the scarf under baseball cap and that more to protect my hair and not going to tie it under my neck for sure. You know I get most my stuff through thrifting, but I have gotten some retail stuff before my sonny boy's wedding this past memorial weekend and now going to try and focus on using what I have. I have to travel to Atlanta to check on my dad's situation he in his 90s and no longer faring to well living on his own. Your styling summer guide is such a great idea and is going to be a great tool to follow up on what you provide in these videos.
Thanks Denise and yes I hear you on the Queen Elizabeth vibe - that def isn't a look I'd be keen to emulate - eek! Now I can't unsee that image of her wearing her scarf like that LOL Congratulations on your boy's wedding too. What did you wear?

Appreciate you making alternate suggestions which gave me this idea: maybe our local French tailor can reuse some lace I have. He is really struggling for business and I have the prejudice that it'll take another mortgage on the house to have a skirt done by him. But bet it'll be a win-win! 🗼
It seems to me that those long skorts look more like culotts to me. It's nice to see them back in style, apparently they're quietly making a comeback. 70s style culotts are the best with knee high boots and a silk blouse. So cute!!! It looks like Gauchos are also back. Knickers are next.
@@Thestyleinsider. Ah yes, the short ones you showed definitely look like skorts, some of the longer ones looked like culotts. I also saw something on Free People in which they called them culotts. I'm super excited about it!!! I seriously love the boho 70s look! I was a child of the 70s, so some looks I remember, I didn't get to where because I was too young. Thank you for your content, I love that you push the boundaries of fashion without going over the edge.
Smashing vid Leoni! I wear denim in year round andin the summer before it gets too hot! I won't be wearing lace maxi-skirts too risque for me 🤭. I think I will put a lace thru one of my oversize white button down 🤔. I look forward to your next vid ❤❤❤xoxo
Yes you read my mind. Love the most of these trends. The lace or sheer trend it’s not so hard to do it. Sometimes when we see runway pieces it looks like no way I would do this, but I got that Prada skirt, and it’s not so sheer. In retail version, it comes with slip, and non sheer part, which is actually quite thick wool 😳, ends as mini skirt. I am planning to pair with Annie Bing BB t shirt and sweatshirt as well😜 I might pair also with Prada tank top, as was on the runway, but maybe not, it’s kind of too literal🤔 . Accessories yes to silver. Since I was very allergic to it, I avoided, but silver color gives some edge. Love it. I just purchased Magda Butrym light pink frames pointed cat sunglasses. These or my black Phoebe Philo black sunglasses, and silver earrings, is great to make those more cute outfits, like pastel pink dress more edgy, omg now I want pink Prada dress 😂😂😂 culottes, i think I skip summer, it’s South Florida, too hot, but for fall I might get ones. I already saw ones from Old Celine archives, but it’s so many things are on my wishlist😳😂 it add up unexpected purchases, when suddenly, a few months ago, I decided to change my style, from cure Chanel type to minimalistic , but edgy old Celine, PP, etc… Have a blessed day🙏❤️
Here in Los Angeles everyone is wearing smaller framed sunglasses. The oversized are over. I can’t do the super small ones so I stick with my wayfarer Raybans. They kind of split the diff. Great video, I love all your choices.
I don't know why people are reacting so much about the lace maxi. I think they're really fun and if it's not too sheer and if it has knee length lining I will definitely wear. I'm 47 by the way.
Beautiful lace skirts and I love listening to you but the images you show dont seem to feature anyone over 25, it would be lovely to see some more mature women wearing the styles you are talking about 😁
Gosh it would be lovely if I actually had access to those images - I search long and hard but very rarely find exactly what I want in terms of diversity :(
Leonie I love your videos and the work you put in them . However, I agreed with some of the comments as a 53 year old Latino woman with a curvy body shape I don’t see myself wearing some of those styles , maybe you can dress up some of your friends that are our age above 40-50 with those clothes so we can get some inspiration.
I've fallen in love with the rose necklace from Zara. Sadly I can't find it on the UK website. I love denim jorts. I've bought a couple of pairs this year. A midwash from Mango and a really dark wash from M&S in the UK. I think they look great dressed up with a linen blazer.
Large fashion companies are selling more and more clothing. That is why their CO2 emissions are increasing. To keep these emissions within limits, the number of clothing items that consumers buy must be reduced. According to a German study, a maximum of five new items of clothing per year fit into a sustainable consumption pattern. Dutch consumers are far above that with an average of ten items of clothing per year. People with high incomes in particular buy a lot: the 20 percent highest incomes make about 40 percent of fashion purchases, while the 20 percent lowest incomes are responsible for less than 10 percent of purchases. Efficiency measures, such as electrifying factories and using better materials, do not deliver enough to achieve the 2030 climate goals. But fashion brands and the European Union have few plans to curb clothing consumption. # Follow the Money
Exactly I noticed how superfluous and excessive so many of these ideas are like the scarves tied over the hats. So one has to buy hats and scarves? They basically do the same thing unless it’s windy and sunny at the same time? Haha. Yeah these trends are a rip off just like most trends. They’re all just manufactured to make us consume more and more!
I really like hi-lo hemlines & asymmetric or hanky hemlines (in both tops & skirts) My style leans a little Boho so while I would not wear a sheer lace skirt with no lining or slip, I might layer it over another skirt or dress for added texture & interest. I live in maxi dresses & loose, flowy pants in the summer. No shorts for me, I do not find them comfortable or flattering (on me)
Dear Ms Leonie, A lot of the items you mentioned...are new to me! :) Scarves over a baseball cap, SKORTS? (the name is new to me, tee-hee) not very comfortable for walking (to works or so) I found... JORTS? who is imaginative like that! hee hee Mish knits... well, wow! but..no thank you (for me ;) Very whimsical video! Thank you Ms Leonie! from: helene!! :)
I only liked the "jorts" at 9:26, always scarves, and I do prefer tortoise shell (fake, of course) glasses. Otherwise,I'm not really keen on these trends.
Maxi lace skirts are a big NOPE for me. They simply look cheap, cheap, cheap no matter who wears it or how. Not excited about any of these trends. Oh, well.
Fair enough. Your comment has also given me an idea for a video to try and showcase some of these looks and make them work. Could be a fun challenge for me :)
Okay total conspiracy here but has anyone ever thought that maybe people like Hailey Bieber are possibly just testing us to see how ridiculous we will actually dress by coping her style and outfits.. I mean, wtf..? Lace maxis with oversized tee-shirts or baseball caps with freaking scarfs, wrapped around. Like why!?😂 She probably sits there and thinks up.." Humm.. what ugly outfits will they wear if i do tomorrow?" Lmao I dunno its just kinda funny. Anyone.??
The breezy lace mesh skirt topped with a “heavy” top or jacket looks unbalanced to me. It’s a no from me. Wearing a baseball cap under a scarf looks silky and flatters no one, including Hailey Bieber. It’s like she purposely wore this to test her trend setting power…how many people would copy her even though it looks bad? Count me out!
Really? For them being a trend for summer is cute imo 😅 as far as the quality goes maybe not but not the point of the video. It’s on us as individuals to hunt down what matters to us. And I’m guessing Etsy is where one will find that high quality version ❤

But fashion brands and the European Union have few plans to curb clothing consumption. # Follow the Money What story do consumers mainly hear about fashion? 'That it is normal or even desirable to buy a lot of clothes and throw them away in no time. The messages we see about fashion are almost always about new things, about what is in and what is out. Implicitly, it's all about the message that things give us status: by wearing the latest trends, you show that you are successful. For example, the fashion industry encourages people to buy huge amounts of stuff, as if all this has no consequences for the planet.' Who is responsible for that message? 'First of all, the fashion brands. Within those companies it is the marketing and communications departments and the social media teams. But there is also a whole ecosystem around it of people and organizations that spread and strengthen that story: fashion magazines, advertising and marketing agencies, stylists, photographers, videographers, influencers.'
Well Im not buying any of this...I live abroad and have a very large nice wardrobe....I will be looking for a white....not linen vest shoes nothing oversize ever motovate me and I prefer my shorts to these. I have a great silk scarf collection already. I am acconpanying a friend looking for a wedding guest dress...we have checked stores on Michigan Ave.: Saks, Neimans, almost every single store NOTHI G that she likes....it really is an off fashion year.
Great video! Have not seen scarves over baseball caps!! Just wondering why most of your examples are young women? You seem to have a mixed age audience.
Hailey Beiber adopted that trend. Black fashionistas have been doing that for ages, and Black culture in general has been wearing our head wraps under and over our hats. You can trace it back to sub-Saharan Africa. The only thing she did was make it go mainstream for this new generation to pick up on. She did not originate that trend.
These were all baloney, respectfully. It’s all excess little cheap details and things. None of it is actually like practical OR really easy to find beautiful. Like those cheap looking crochet flower chokers they look so makeshift and silly!
As an almost 70 year old, none of these trends work for me but I love your shirt! Now that’s a trend I would wear!
Fair enough Tina and thank you :)

Sounds great! Thanks x
🙌 hooray for scarves!
I already saw ones from Old Celine archives, but it’s so many things are on my wishlist😳😂 it add up unexpected purchases, when suddenly, a few months ago, I decided to change my style, from cure Chanel type to minimalistic , but edgy old Celine, PP, etc… Have a blessed day🙏❤️
Your home is stunning, the black windows 👏
Thank you so much. x
I love the denim piece you are wearing in this video but cannot find a link anywhere? Not sure if its a dress or a top. Thanks.
I like your denim shirt very nuch. Would you please reveal where I can buy it? Thank you 🌷
Thank you. You can find it here: rstyle.me/+H1U_UWZPOwoNJMWlcsrwPQ
Hi Leoni, does your shopping list have links for UK and European websites ?
Subscribed because I need to keep up with fashion as it's gonna be my career soon
Here in Los Angeles everyone is wearing smaller framed sunglasses. The oversized are over. I can’t do the super small ones so I stick with my wayfarer Raybans. They kind of split the diff. Great video, I love all your choices.
Omg! If I put on one of those lace skirts my daughter would think I’d lost my mind. 😂 I did cut off some jeans to save $ from buying new “jorts”.
Great idea!! DIY your own jorts :)
I've thought about doing the same thing.
I was going to do this too with some old jeans 👖
@@Thestyleinsider.They turned out great. No reason to buy new.
I don't know why people are reacting so much about the lace maxi. I think they're really fun and if it's not too sheer and if it has knee length lining I will definitely wear. I'm 47 by the way.
Beautiful lace skirts and I love listening to you but the images you show dont seem to feature anyone over 25, it would be lovely to see some more mature women wearing the styles you are talking about 😁
I agree i would love to see more different versions of age.
Gosh it would be lovely if I actually had access to those images - I search long and hard but very rarely find exactly what I want in terms of diversity :(
No one over 25 is wearing this stuff lol
Leonie I love your videos and the work you put in them .
However, I agreed with some of the comments as a 53 year old Latino woman with a curvy body shape I don’t see myself wearing some of those styles , maybe you can dress up some of your friends that are our age above 40-50 with those clothes so we can get some inspiration.
@@magdlynstrouble2036 Exactly! 😏
Where can I find the metallic mesh dress between #30 and #31? I love that one! Is it available anywhere? Another great video, thank you!
I've fallen in love with the rose necklace from Zara. Sadly I can't find it on the UK website.
I love denim jorts. I've bought a couple of pairs this year. A midwash from Mango and a really dark wash from M&S in the UK. I think they look great dressed up with a linen blazer.
Would would say about small metallic city balenciaga handbag is it worth it?
LOVE the knit metallic silver dress! Can you please tell me where to purchase it? It's the one before #31.
I think it's from Topshop from memory!
Love Love Love1 Thanks you:)
Thanks for watching Lynette :)
Do you think the lace skirt vibe will still be on trend for Australian 24/25 summer? Not sure if it is too late to invest!
What top are you wearing?

Japanese Sandal = Jandal. Makes sense I recon.
Scarves worn around the baseball cap has been in the urban community for decades…
No shorts for me, I do not find them comfortable or flattering (on me)
If you’ve ever lost your hair with chemo you might not EVER want to wear a scarf as a head covering. I love a pretty scarp but not to cover my head.
That makes a lot of sense :(
Laced skirt with just underwear is a no for me. But i do have laced skirt that is lined and that is way better and classy
Dear Ms Leonie,
A lot of the items you mentioned...are new to me! :)
Scarves over a baseball cap,
SKORTS? (the name is new to me, tee-hee)
not very comfortable for walking (to works or so) I found...
JORTS? who is imaginative like that! hee hee
Mish knits... well, wow!
but..no thank you (for me ;)
Very whimsical video! Thank you Ms Leonie!
from: helene!! :)
Yes Skorts and Jorts are names that make me laugh too :)
What u have shown are all fine, but I think the best is still what you are wearing, I hope next time we get to see what u wear.
Oh thank you so much that's very kind :)
@@Thestyleinsider. Please do!
@@Thestyleinsider. I'm looking forward to it!
Anyone.??
The styles you show look like they’re for much younger gals -except the sunglasses & sandals
I def don't think they have to be to be honest but I hear you :)
You are so beautiful ❤️😌
Thanks a bunch! You're too sweet!
Hailey Bieber didn't start the scarf over cap style, it was Keinemusik artists that started this 2 years ago!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
The breezy lace mesh skirt topped with a “heavy” top or jacket looks unbalanced to me. It’s a no from me. Wearing a baseball cap under a scarf looks silky and flatters no one, including Hailey Bieber. It’s like she purposely wore this to test her trend setting power…how many people would copy her even though it looks bad? Count me out!
Plastic lace for summer? A big no
Fair enough too! I wouldn't want to wear "plastic".
What is your favorite thing
Leonie, I know your main audience is o/s but would you consider a modified style guide for those of us in southern hemisphere??
LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE BORING!!!!
The lace skirts looks shown were horrible and of poor quality in my opinion.
Really? For them being a trend for summer is cute imo 😅 as far as the quality goes maybe not but not the point of the video. It’s on us as individuals to hunt down what matters to us. And I’m guessing Etsy is where one will find that high quality version ❤
@candyce6233 you're bang on - I'm pleased you appreciate where I'm coming from in giving some inspiration.
🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching x
That first scarf picture reminded me of spike protein.
What's that?
@@Thestyleinsider. What causes COVID.
Ooh 😬😂
The baseball cap with scarf is absolutely not for me. I can see why its not getting any buzz
We're in the '20's, let's bring back turbans.

What story do consumers mainly hear about fashion?
'That it is normal or even desirable to buy a lot of clothes and throw them away in no time. The messages we see about fashion are almost always about new things, about what is in and what is out. Implicitly, it's all about the message that things give us status: by wearing the latest trends, you show that you are successful. For example, the fashion industry encourages people to buy huge amounts of stuff, as if all this has no consequences for the planet.'
Who is responsible for that message?
Trying to find the images of the outfits I'm talking about on women of different ages is almost impossible unfortunately :(
And the lace skirts nah. Curtains, shabby chic tablecloths. Period. I prefer soft lace dresses I like mesh skirts though in fact anything mesh.
Im not being a negative Nancy I’m being a positive Nancy-no need to waste one’s money on following silly trends 🙂.
Totally!
Seems everybody is offering these guides to buying into the trends nowadays.
Love this, but Hailey Bieber did not start that trend. That’s a very old NYC style that has been worn for years. Made popular by ASAP Rocky
It was rehana not haily
Not interested in these trends . I love lace but not like these pic to me it’s tacky 🤷♀️
FASHION SHOULD BE FUN AND CREATIVE!!!! YBNORMAL!!!!
The caption of this video sounded promising. But unfortunately none of theses fashion "trends" are very exciting (though I like your chanel :)
Well, the metal knit saves you from the stabbings that are so common now in europe...
They are for showing legs but not too much... difficult to dress without showing the body...
Have your channel gone to teenagers 😮
Not sure what you mean lol but I'm 57 and love some of these trends. But each to their own I suppose x
These were all baloney, respectfully. It’s all excess little cheap details and things. None of it is actually like practical OR really easy to find beautiful. Like those cheap looking crochet flower chokers they look so makeshift and silly!
Each to their own I suppose!
None of these fashion trends is tasteful. They are so dull and over the top.
You talk way to much. Rabbling on and on. Probably 75% is talk and 25% is actual fashion showing.
I think you meant to say that I talk "too" much Kerstin
