    Bass Pro bought out Cabela's sometime ago . So you got a BPC tractor now, enjoy that new seat, was good idea . You had a Big Smile enjoy the ride also like the farm tour

      I doubt either thought their seat would end up on a tractor. I'm sure there will be a more complete farm tour in the future.

    The reason to keep it under load is to prevent ur engine reving the shit out of itself. I could get all into the physics of y that is but in short throttling down bout 1/8 of the way does the same thing as hitting ur brakes when u pull the torque back. It basically affects ur engine in the same matter as a torque on a 68 or 06 series it just goes through a different process in the transmission. All it is at the end of the day is a splitter for ur gear. Treat it like u would down shifting a manual pickup to go up a steep hill.

    Its not really necessary to shift the TA as you describe just be quick with the lever. Of course now someone will inform me how wrong I am.

    • @hughes2397
      @hughes2397 5 років тому +3

      No sir. You are correct. The torque amplifier isn't made to be speed shifted back and forth like that at all. It's only supposed to be used when needed. It's not made to "play with."

  • @Alro451
    @Alro451 7 років тому +1

    on the TA i was never told that obviously if its pulling hard use the direct put to go back and forth it was always at will.

  • @SuperJohndeere4020
    @SuperJohndeere4020 7 років тому +4

    I've heard to always run the amplifier in high when you can because it's heavier duty and it will last longer.

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  7 років тому +3

      The high for the TA is direct drive. In Low TA, the tractor free wheels down hills.

    • @williamkerchner5772
      @williamkerchner5772 3 роки тому +1

      @@boehmfarm4276 on the old farm all’s that’s true. On the 06 series and newer they don’t free wheel.At least there aren’t supposed to. And yes you should be in direct ( forward) normally. Pull back when you need extra torque.

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900 7 років тому

      A lot of people would have never tried to do what you did, They would have called the dealer to come fix it. You guys did a really good job fixing it back up and ware you were working is not the easiest place to work that's for sure, If it didn't have the cab on it it would have been a lot easer job to do. That's one reason I like the old cabs that you can take off easy and work on it standing up and not all contorted ! LOL New projects means new videos ! Bandit

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  7 років тому +1

      I was thinking of how nice not having the cab in the way would be.

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900 7 років тому

      Some cabs are really easy to take off to make it easy work on things, But some are just a nightmare to do anything under the cab. My cousin had a 7060 AC with a cab on it and we had to torch part of the floor pan out to get to a hydraulic fitting that the line went bad. The cab was going to be a mother to get it up enough to get to the fitting so we used a fire wrench to get to it ! LOL I've been thinking about putting a YearRound cab on my 1550 beings I use it the most, Not so much to keep out of the cold but to keep out of the sun and heat ! LOL Cabs can be a great thing but can be a big pain in the butt when you need to get under them to work on something ! Bandit

    I've always been told never pull the t/a back while moving whatsoever. We're still on the original t/a as well so there must be some truth to that lol 🤣

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  3 роки тому

      Then what's the point of the T/A???

    • @funkfarms
      @funkfarms 3 роки тому

      @@boehmfarm4276 it's supposed to be like a powershift when speeding up and for in the fields it's used to give you more torque at a slower ground speed when you are pulling something heavy like a sidedresser or something to that matter.

  • @farmall560diesel7
    @farmall560diesel7 7 років тому +1

    I've never heard that about the torque amplifier, since all it's a clutch driven planetary gears set, I wouldn't worry about hitting the breaks and all that. if you move the the lever swiftly back and release it slowly, you won't have anything to worry about with the torque amplifier. just my two cents.

    nice video, your fix, worked, sounds like our 986, and good mouth camera skills lol, dad always said to only use the ta when you are pulling hard, if your just tring to slow down, he says to throttle down, but thats my opinion

    Hey i have a question about a 1086 there is a guy with one and he wants to sell it to us , we saw him brush hogging with it one day and the smoke was white ?? It a single owner tractor seems pretty nice , but could the white smoke just be because the most he has done with it in 5 years in pull a 8ft brush hog, or is there something wrong with it ??

    • @boehmfarm4276
      @boehmfarm4276  5 років тому

      Worst case scenario, the coolant filter wasn't changed regularly and the cylinder sleeves cavitated. May just need an injection pump rebuild or valve lash checked. Without inspecting myself, I can only point out options.
