Excellent information, I wish to ask you a question as how to delete a letter wrongly printed. For example if I wish to write West and by mistake write Wesg . How to delete the g.?
Hi, Thanks for the compliment, to delete a mistake you press the cross arrow which is under the letter I on the keyboard. It is the button above the " Next" button
The problem is that my "BRAND NEW " unit is a refurbished unit that was discontinued and Garmin does not even recognize the serial number for tech. support.
Excellent content! Thank you.My original intent in watching this was how to change the map route - I am going a destination and want to go through a certain city, on the way (700 mile trip), but gps has me going hundreds of miles out of the way. Is there a way to customize my route? (Like in Google maps) Where I am going, Google maps will not work as there are no cell towers. Very scary last trip as I didn't bring gps, but beautiful route. I'm thinking I could use my cell to a certain point where I know I will lose service and then use GPS that wil bring me through that area? Or can I manipulate the entire route on GPS? Does this make sense?
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Perfect! Thank you so much! ;) Now instead of going hundreds of miles south then west, it flip flopped to West, then south. Thank you again! Just what I needed.
How can I manipulate the GPS to take the route I want rather than the one it chooses? For instance when traveling from Harrisburg PA to Virginia Beach, VA I prefer to avoid the beltway around Washington DC. It's about 30 minutes longer but worth it. Frustrating to have the GPS constantly trying to reroute me to the beltway.
There are several ways you can do that, first in rout preferences you can choose shortest time, or you can to add the Beltway to Custom Avoidance list.

Hi, what you need to do is use Garmin Web Updater and reinstall all the updates. If that does not fix the problem let me know which exact model it is and I will send you all the System files that you will need to copy back on to the GPS Internal Memory.
@@georgegeecalderon6901 I need to know the exact model number of your Garmin to tell you which option to click on for that specific model. Depending on the model, it could be Map Layers, Status Bar, Shortcut Bar, or Navigation Status Bar.
That meas either the map file on your GPS is corrupted, map file has been misplaced, map files has been renamed incorrectly, or the map has been deleted. The correct name and location for your map files is G://.system/gmapprom.img Maps could get corrupted if there is a hardware issue with GPS' internal memory module, or system file errors. Maps could get deleted if you have an unsuccessful map update attempt or accidental deletion through the USB port. Solution: Reinstall the map update using Garmin Express, if it Fails again put an 8GB Micro SD card in your GPS, and reinstall the map update on the Micro SD card
My 2555 LMT had old maps, so I updated them, now it doesnt display any maps, all it displays is some of it and it looks like 1992 maps lol, please help me sir when you can, and also when i try to press the adress button or the gas stations button, or the restaurants button, or any categorie on the where to menu, it says "Map data is not avalible."
So when you do an update the GPS first deletes the existing maps and then replaces it with the new ones. Sometimes the after deletion of the old maps the download progress of the new maps fails. This is caused due to internet connection interruption, lack of bandwidth, or other WiFi problems. So the solution is to try running the map updater again.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Ok, that is what it is and I soldered it back together but when I plug it into my car it thinks I am trying to connect it with my PC
@@franciscotaverner6039 Make sure you are using an original Garmin Car Charger if it still thinks that it is being connected to a PC, it means PIN 2 of the USB Port is not making a good connection.
Go to the volume control screen, now at the upper right corner of the screen put your finger for 30 seconds. It will give you another menu option, scroll down to delete user data. This method will also delete your favorites and saved locations. If you just want to clear the recent places you can click on the recent places, then click on the 3 bars at the upper left corner of the screen and reset it
Almost all Garmin Drives have the same layout and interface. So here is the one I made for Garmin Drive 50 LM, and 60 LM which is almost the same as 40 LM ua-cam.com/video/uYZeAALWZxE/v-deo.html

A little over whelming for somebody that has never used one but very well laid out anyway
Thanks, and yes I agree it could be a little overwhelming, however most features are not used on an average rout from point A to point B.
