I wish more players could see how important and valuable it is to be part of a union. Being unionized and speaking with one voice gives people the power to push for things like fair wages, medical insurance, pensions, and other benefits that take care of them during and after their football careers. Unions aren’t just about solving problems in the moment-they’re about building security and respect for the long run, making sure everyone in the sport has a fair shot at a better future.
The union doesn't have power like PFA in England....I wish they can give our football players scholarships to study in order to be football administrator ...all the best Safpu
The Union has been granting assistance to players education through its bursary fund and for many years at that, hence some players have qualifications in (LLB, Supply Chain, Fitness, Analysts, Coaches, Masters in Psychology, Video analysts, and some Business Studies just to name some) and it was mentioned briefly in the interview. The PFA is a Union in England arguably one of the best leagues in the world (the Premiership) where players earn millions they have sufficient financial backing and wide range of sponsorships and partners. But if the ambition is to do more of what they do then SAFPU is headed in the right direction and the reality is that we need forward thinking people in various structures to elevate the game which will essentially improve the livelihoods of footballers. So much can be achieved if stakeholders in the game, government and private sector collaborate ideas that will enhance productivity because being resourceful creates vast opportunities alike.
