How good are you to give us an update. I think your eyes look really good, clear, & healthy. I'm so happy for you. Blessings.
Thank you for making this video. I, too, had a vitreoctomy, and have my cataract surgery next week. I can hardly see from that eye. Listening to your experience lessens my anxiety.
I had one that was 4 years old-- should have been done within 24 hours... doc said it was , on a scale of 1-10, a 15 or better. The Cataract was like a rock (I have it in a jar- looks like a GRAVEL), and he also did the Vitrectomy at the same time. just to let you know-- I had NO pain, NO irritation, no nausea- NOTHING. NOT ONCE.. it's healing now-- I see a bit more every day- (been week and half only) from an eye I have seen NOTHING out of for 4 years!!! I have a re-attachment surgery coming on Oct. 15th- and they say that should be a 90% chance or better of perfectly normal eyesight after that... SO you can relax. i had NOTHING and it was one of the ROUGHER surgeries he's ever done and he's done over 30,000!!
Thank you for this video. I wish I saw this before my eye surgery as I was very frightened. However, I bit the bullet and had both eyes done about 6 months ago. Multifocal lens replacement surgery. 10mins each eye is all it took after an intensive lot of tests. What a difference this has made to my life. I can see everything from near to far. I still get a bit of pressure at the back of my left eye especially after being on the phone or laptop all day, hardly noticible though. And a goid sleep helps. I also get starburst with oncoming car/bike lights at night. I'm told that will subside over time. Other than this everything is fine. Best thing I've ever done. No more glasses which were costing me a fortune. No more squinting to read or see things from afar either. My partner says that I'm seeing far too much now and he can't get aeay with anything lol
Great, however I heard that they can get cloudy again and will have to have laser treatment to resolve this ~
Thank you for posting this video. You answered WAY more than my Ophthalmologist did, and you've made this surgery a lot less terrifying for me. Now I just need to find a better doctor! Thanks again, and God Bless You 🙏
thanks Dee... glad I was some help for you!
My doctor is very good in explaining. He told me to be patient and wait until my sight will get used to adjusting to some lights. It is getting better and my sight in reading is 20/20 only adjusting to far distance vision but it is getting better. It is almost 2 months now and I know it will get better soon. Your Dr will give you more drops to avoid dryness. Thank you for this video
Good info. I just went into the optometrist today, and she said I had a small cataract. I could sense that something was going on over the last few months. Next step is to set up an appointment with an ophthalmologist. I had laser surgery on my eyes in the year 2000, and it took about a year for the halos caused by nighttime lights to go away.
Thank you. I had surgery on both eyes 9 days ago, and my eyes are gradually settling down. I can see details in flowers that I don't remember seeing since I was about 20 years old.
Jesus said to a man " What would you have me to do ? "
And the man replied " Lord that I may receive my sight."
He was then healed, . The man then said he could see trees walking .

@@valerieobrien5521 You have an interesting take on the bible. Are you a JW.
@@valerieobrien5521 To each his own. Certainly eating the right foods and a healthy lifestyle can potentially help to prevent the formation of cataracts. However, a cataract is an accumulation of clumps of protein in the actual eye lens which also come with aging, once they have developed no amount of fruit, vegetables or praying to whichever god you ascribe to, is going to fix them.
Science has given us a way to recover the sight that very many of us, less pious individuals, lose with age and allow us to again see the beauty that is all around us and which was gradually dimmed by the cataracts.
Regaining your sight is a wonderful experience and nobody has ever died or been poisoned from the acrylic lenses they use.
Paul, funny you mention and made the "20 years old" comment in regards to the detail of the flower(s) .... I'm 53 and finally got around to getting cataract surgery. I had the surgery on my 1st eye 2 mornings ago on the morning of the 23rd, this would be the 3rd morning since I supposed. Yesterday, I had to go in the day after surgery to get a check up on the eye health, etc. The Doctor was very happy. While I was there, I GREATLY expressed my gratitude and told him I can see so far away and that the detail is just incredible. His reply was, the lens clarity is that of a 18 to 20 year old person. I was stunned. I had never heard this before. So you are very correct in saying you haven't seen that level of detail since you were 20 years old. My new eye and the detail, color, sharpness, contrast, all of it is so fantastic now that I've been unable to sleep for two days. I've been watching movies, reading, go thru old emails, shows, videos, video games .. it's just so overwhelming.

Congratulations for the successful surgery! What type of lenses did you choose?
Thanks for the useful update. I'm now getting mine done on a week on Tuesday.
Thank you very much for the detailed videos. I have cataracts that are forming (I'm almost 65), but not to the point of surgery yet. If I live long enough, I will have to have the surgery so videos like this are very helpful. I appreciate the original and then two years later. Good job. All the best to you.
Thank you for sharing your eye cataract experience. It has helped me prepare for my upcoming surgery. I feel more comfortable understanding this type of surgery is more common than I realized.
Thank you for the video, I need to do cataract very soon. Your video is very helpful to me!
Thank you for the video. It gives me confidence for the upcoming operation.
Thank you very much, just got diagnosed with these, early but good to know, glad you are doing well.
My thanks for a first-hand review that can't be easily had from the doctor's videos.
The difference with a cataract operation and the natural eye lense is that the natural eyes have a FILTER and can diffuse , light in the normal way because the brain is in HARMONY with the whole body and its function the body. But with an artificial lens, there is no CONNECTING NERVE from lense to brain, and the lense remains stationary It is possible if you pay , to havme a TRI- FOCAL lense which does the same job as bifocal lenses . But of course, they charge you for it as you have to get the operation done privately . Strange to think though , ththe NHS are happy to pay for someone to have a sex change operation, or silucan boob operations, but not for decent lenses vital for seeing . The MONO LENSE is unaltered in design and function from its introduction in the early 1960s !
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am going to have cataract surgery soon and am nervous and appreciate your story.
thanks and no need to be nervous, it'll be fine
Thank you for taking the time to share this useful information! Good luck to you!
Both your videos are excellent, very helpfull. You discuss and explain the important feedback for post Cataract surgery.
I am so glad I found this video. I've had implants for about 5 years. I'm very happy with the daylight performance of the lenses, I never wear glasses when the ambient light is good. As you describe, the night driving issue is the weak point in my vision, those star artifacts around bright lights. I thought I was the only one that has that problem, thanks.
from WC, I had cataract surgery 10 & 6 weeks ago, Dr Oakley shot them old lenses out of there put those new ones in , 8 weeks of drops, being a little careful and now I see 20-20 in left eye , 20-70 in right eye (due to life long lazy eye) and my vision is just as it was when I was 40 years old! I have to use 2.50 readers for close activities, can see great to drive! I had no pain, only a little tenderness for a few weeks in each eye, now all is great with my eyes! Was I a bit apprehensive before the surgery yes but now I realize it was not necessary and I would recommend that surgery for anyone who needs it! Just get a good surgeon like I did!!!
Thank you for doing this video. It is very informative. I just had my cataract surgery and I am very happy with the results.
Which lens you have it installed, trifocal, multifocal
Thanks for these great videos I have been referred for cataract surgery and I feel very well informed all my questions answered
Thanks! Having the surgery in a few months. Your story helped!
read as much as you can do a lot of research, it’s now 3 months since my surgery and i am very unhappy, can see some what to drive but can not read road signs, when i wake up still need to put on glasses, which i am waiting for bifocals, which is what i used before, surgery $8000 , told to buy cheap reading glasses $ 1 bifocals $1500 i can see some what key board but can not read what i am writing,
Thanks for this, I have my surgery in a couple of days and your video pretty much answered all the questions I had. Cheers
Good luck. The surgery is painless and you won't realise you are having the procedure.
@@robertmansfield2856 is it really?
@@susanasis2152 You have eye drops to enlarge the pupils, eye drops to numb the eyes and a mild sedative to relax you, and I had both eyes done and the procedure took around an hour.
Great video and glad you have come through relatively unscathed.
I'll be having cataract surgery done this year.I am very nearsighted and have been since i was 9.I barely recall not being nearsighted.I would be very happy just to need readers...as it is now I need them for everything.I hope my results are as good as his,but any improvement would be great.
There are night driving glasses with special tint or a tinted screen that clips to the car visor so the glare is removed and you can still see everything at night just not the halo glare.
YES- that's what I thought too-- I'm having the surgery in july/aug. and wasthinking about the multi-focal- but I don't want to lose the clarity-- I think I'll just do the reading glass for up close-- cause thats' just at home- but YES you're right- there are the NIGHT anti-glare anti-halo specs and visor attachments..
Your videos are very helpful . Thank you for posting. Had cataract surgery done in right eye 10 yrs ago and very happy with the outcome. It was done Manually. Distant vision for me is very much as yours when driving at night. So yes, I avoid dark dim road conditions if possible. I need readers also for reading/computer, but at arms length and beyond I see very well so no problem there. Now , 10 yrs later I need cataract removed from Left eye. This one will be done with Laser assist. They say laser is more accurate and with less pressure/trama to eye. Hopefully all will go as well with the outcome of the left eye. One has to realize that our eyes grow older as we do. Cataract surgery will not give us eyes of a 10 yr old, however , in general, I think it's pretty amazing this can be done with fairly good outcome for most folks 98% of the time. (And yes, still somewhat nervous going into this a second time, but I think that's normal) Happy all worked out for you as well.
Thank you for the update. I had just found your first vid right after your first surgery. I'll be making an appointment soon to get my surgeries scheduled. So many comments on that one, too, sharing experiences has helped curtail my anxiety over it. I don't even like having to get the drops to dilate my eyes when they check me for glaucoma. I won't ever wear contact lenses. lol
Thank you so much 4 the information. God bless you
Hi, Thank you for taking the time to make these excellent descriptive videos. They are extremely helpful and informative. You've done a great service to many people. I had my left cataract affected eye successfully implanted for distance with a mono-focal about a week ago. My right non-cataract and near sighted eye is giving me a bit of a problem though and I think it's due to the two eyes now being about 2 diopters apart (i.e. the extreme side of mono-vision). I'll be following up with my surgeon in 6 days. I think maybe if I can get my right eye to within 1 diopter of my left (i.e. set at maybe -1.0 D) that might sort me out reasonably well for reading whilst keeping my distance. Was wondering if you might have any advice on this or if you think this plan makes sense conceptually? Thanks again for your excellent videos.
I've nothing but problems.
Do take eye vitamins? Looking at your eyes it looks good 👍. I am glad you can see and are happy with the procedure. I heard about Monovision lens...I might have a cataract operation soon. I am glad you shared experiences with the lens you were given.
Thank you so much. Just had both eyes done, waiting to see how they stabilize, so good to hear your story.
please let us know Jude...
Is it hurts? Mine this June.. Im scared
Did you have any large floaters?
Hi, for night driving you could turn on the inside light near the mirror. It can help reduce the pupil diameter and make night driving more comfortable.
That's interesting, thanks. In normal circumstances you're not supposed to drive at night with internal light on but if it helps it's worth a try.
I had same issue don’t know how to got out
@@tropicalscot I recall its illegal in UK unless the law has changed. Please check
Thanks for informative video. What kind of iol's did you put in each eye? I am assuming they are standard monofocals set for distance in both eyes.
Great review. I had my left eye distance lense and but I now need laser surgery for PCO. I am still short sighted in my right eye corrected by contact lense but I cannot get my glasses right and I don't wish to have surgery on my good right eye but may end up doing to balance my vision.👍🏼
Hi...how many times does PCO neecd or can be done? and how soon does PCO need to be done? Thks
I found my night vision improved after cataract surgery, with the cataracts I had a lot of glare which went after surgery
@Politicos Ladrões Which lenses did you take?????
Thank you for great video.
thank you for sharing your story. I also had a vitrectomy (five months ago) and now will soon need cataract surgery for the operated eye. Glad to know you've had both and are doing ok. I've always had to deal with halos and glare so it won't be any different for me. I'm just so grateful I did't lose my sight completely. Hope all is still going well...
mjoanc Me too, i had a retinal detachment in the past and now going for cataracts removal. A bit nervous though.

19 years ago and I was 32. I'm 100% and never thought about it after a month or so or until I come across a video like this. Vision is normal. Just wear glasses if I read small print
I have an inflammatory eye disease but I am getting cataract surgery for a cataract caused by my eye injections... I'm 30 years old, a mom of 2 young boys and I'm terrified I will lose my vision and not be able to watch them grow. I know my case might be a little different but thanks for sharing.
I've had retina surgery like you are you happy with your procedure
Hi thank you so much your update...I had my eye operation done 2.weeks ago..I had no pain whatsoever during the operation with only the eye drops as anestetic...
I was amazed.. now my only problem is reading but I also bought a pair of cheap specs from the farmacy 2.5 my optician told me to use them until the other eye is.done..So I like everyone was very nervous before but when I have to go for the other eye in about 3/6 months it will be with serenity and no fear at all...
I thought the second eye is done a couple weeks later? They didn't offer you that?
No Lynna here in Italy most doctors prefer to wait at.least a few months which makes sense due to.the risk of problems which are very rare but can.happen..Its probably different.in other countries..this is just.my experience..God bless
I sincerely thank you for this info especially if u know that u going for s similar surgery I know now what to exspect, many thanks
Also ask your ophthalmologist about mono-vision and parallax view. For some people they work after placing the IOL depending on your age, eye health or short/long vision. They even can make a test using contacts prior to the surgery. Ask your Dr what suits you and what are the latest options available.
@@rudolfhuijs4526 Sincere thanx
Good update...thanks for sharing!

Thank you. Very informative.
Can you wear those yellow lense glasses for night driving? They help with glare. You can usually get them where thy sell sun glasses or on internet.
Thanks, did u have the standard monofocal lens was used in the surgery for both of ur eyes?
Thanks for this video, especially the heads up info on the halo effect. I am a bit concerned with this since i do a lot of night/early morning driving. I will be having cataract surgery in a few weeks.
I had my cataract done three week ago, in dont wear any glasses as I got the multi focal premium lens in my left eye. My Vision is very good now during the day. I can read and drive. Only issue is the halo at night when driving, ive been told that it msy got better in 6 months time by my doctor. Fingers crossed, im a bit worried when people are complaining about halo after two years from surgery.
I am a month post cataract surgery. I was fitted with two different diopters, one for near, one for far or what is referred to as mono vision. I have 20/20 vision and do not need glasses at all. I am able to read even fine print without glasses. I do have the same problem at night with lights flaring. I believe Eye docs refer to it as night time hallo effect.
Can you drive at night ??
Yes I can drive at night and it’s getting better as time passes. On coming headlights are intense but manageable. I also need to wear sunglasses in bright sunlight. My doctor says it’s because the IOLs are crystal clear compared to a natural lens which is somewhat cloudy. More light gets through. Over time the eyes adjust to some degree.
Rand Sipe hi. What type of lenses did you get?
My had eye surgery /cataract48 hours ago it's still blurry . is that normal will it get better?
This is very helpful! I am recovering from a detached retina in my left eye due to lattice degeneration. I'm 36, and had no idea I even had LD. It's been 2 weeks but my vision above the gas bubble is pretty dull and blurry. I'm not sure if I have a cataract forming already or not. :-/
I know it's most likely coming either way due to my RD surgery. 😐
Hi Patty. I think usually the cataract takes several months to start forming but my eyesight wasn't very good in the first few weeks after retinal surgery, even after the gas bubble had completely gone. It should start to improve slowly though. However if it is a cataract forming the ophthalmologist should be able to detect it fairly easily (in my case they could see it forming before I started to notice it).
My vision in my left eye became blurry 3 months post-op. Overnight, it felt like. Did you see flashes or have blurry vision after surgery? 3 months out?
YES- I had retinal surgery too-- and it's been 9 weeks- still HURTS every single day--- feels BAD- can't see sh. .. either.. (but then- it WAS an OLD injury-- not just 48 hours earlier like is required.) and I have to wait another 8 weeks with drops twice daily for pressure (even though I had iridotomy- laser hole in my iris to PREVENT pressure)... and see if it's even possible to do anything for me.
Arms length focus with a standard spherical IOL is actually a very good outcome. Although results to vary from person to person anyway. Do you know if they intentionally left you somewhat under-corrected in order to have better / more functional closer vision or did they target pure 20/20 distance / plano? Easy way to know is, if a -1 prescription (for instance) makes your distance vision just a little bit sharper then you were slightly under corrected… which is a common approach with monofocal IOLs
Could you explain what you mean by ‘under-corrected in order to have better/ more functional closer vision? Does that mean they won’t give you the best vision for distance because that makes your reading vision poorer, making you need reading glasses.
And also what you mean by 20/20 distance/Plano. Does that mean they can give you perfect vision for distance? What does -1 mean. I appreciate your time in answering. I have good distance vision but have to use reading glasses, which I absolutely hate because if I’m looking at my iPad and watching tv I have to look over my glasses to have clear vision for the tv. What is your opinion about one lense for distance in one eye and a near lense in the other eye.
Very good. Thank you.
You mentioned about driving at night is not that comportable specially in a not well lighted streets, did you not ask or is there an eyeglass availble to reduce glare at night to drive safely?
so you wore glasses before the surgery yes? I wear a very sensitive set of prescription glasses and will be getting cataract surgery soon and am told I wont need my prescription glasses afterwards, just reading glasses, is that what your situation was? and most of all, is it true that the anaesthetic is injected into your eye via a needle? That is my worst fear of all. ? I did not notice a squint either , your eyes look very good. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing....
Well done

what kind of lens u have mono or multi ?
and both eyes same type of lens or different ?

I appreciate that you provided such an honest assessment. My situation is similar. My surgery/correction did not meet my expectations based on what I had heard. I have glare and halos. Still need corrective lenses. Is it better? Yes.
Is it perfect? No.
Did it meet my expectations based on what I’d heard? To be honest, no.
I was scheduled for cataract surgery but I cancelled it. I do not want to trade my near-sightedness for far-sightedness, as most of my days are spent needing to see up close. And I cannot afford the multi-focal lenses. I have a cataract in my left eye and it is not so bad that I see halos or glare, and night driving is not a problem at all. My glasses correct my vision well enough that I am okay with them. I lost sleep, worrying about being far-sighted after my surgery. I feel much better having cancelled it. I will live with this cataract unless and until it becomes so unbearable that I can't function with it.
@@rickarmstrong9660 But can’t they just remove the cataract and not put in a lens? Wouldn’t that clear up your vision without changing your near or far vision at all?

Interesting videos thanks for posting, I have cataract surgery in a few days. Sounds like we've had a similar journey eye wise, I've also had a vitrectomy and detached retina surgery among other procedures. I don't think the squint is really noticeable at all. Hello Rujina. Sorry for the late reply. Yes I did get pco both times. But it's a very easy and painless laser procedure to fix. You may know that by now anyway ;-)
to tropicalscot: Re: Glare at night - driving":
I hear glare can be caused by this lens "sack" being cloudy.
I think you mentioned in your first video that you were to have this sack cloudiness fixed by a laser op - did you have that op done? Did you go back to them and ask about this glares? I wonder if you might need another laser op on your lens "sack" to remove part of it.
I guess you did the op in an NHS hospital? can you get back to them for a checkup?
Great video, thanks buddy
Thanks....hope it was helpful
I had Cataract surgery two weeks ago (both eyes). I had been wearing spectacles for around 55 years as I am Long sighted in one eye and short sighted in the other. The lenses that I had put in, now means I will just need spectacles for reading but not distance.
say if i opted for both distance monofocal lens with focal 20/20 at one eye and 20/40 at another eye...will this give some good vision at intermediate distance
@@coachbahraen You would have to ask your Optician that question. I had lenses put in which did away with the need for me having to wear spec's for distance, and I only need them for reading now. Having had the procedure, then eye drops for a month, and then another eye test for my readers, I am happy with the result and have absolutely no discomfort.
I too underwent the catract surgery for both the eyes (efop lenses), the near vision is cyrstal clear however far distsnce vision is blur to me, i mean not that clear as it should hve been. Spent huge amount but not feeling worth. Its been 8 weeks now surgery happened. Doc said i may hve to wear specs for far distance with vision no. as 0.50. Also night time far distance vision more unclear, kind of hallow including lights n human faces.
I can't see a squint. I had my first eye done five months ago and vision was good right from the start. I didn't have the glare - although I'd had that BEFORE the op - - but what I did have was a line of light which crossed bright lights at an angle ('light streak'). About five days after the op the streak went away literally between going to the pub for a pint and coming back. I had my second op five days ago. Vision for the first day was really cloudy but is now on a par with my other eye. Again, no glare but I do have the light streak though not as strongly as with the first eye. It hasn't yet gone away but it's something I can easily live with. Those, and the focus which you described, are the only negative effects. From about 1.5 metres I reckon my eyes are better than they've ever been (I'm 68). What is really lovely is that I can see the stars again! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Oh, can I just add that you paid over the odds for your cheapo glasses. They're only £1 from Poundland :-) I have three pairs for different distances at the mo but I'm hoping my optician can sort out a pair of reading varifocals when I see her in six weeks or so.
About three months after cataract surgery, I am still having problems with halos and streaks when I look directly into a light source, either day or night, with my left eye. None of these problems before surgery. After reading your comment, I have been drinking many pints and the problem has not cleared up 😁. My cataract surgery was performed with laser, on both eyes. Since my right eye has always had extremely poor vision from birth, my surgeon said I could only have monofocal lenses in both eyes. He used Bausche & Lomb lenses in both eyes. My good eye received a toric lens and the bad one received a standard lens. Since I do not see very well out of my right eye, my brain almost turns it off, so not sure of any post surgery visual effects. My surgeon told me the lens in my left eye is stretching the capsular bag containing the lens, on the diagonal, thus causing the glare streaks that present on the same angle as the stretch line...at around 10 and 4 o'clock. In any event, the surgeon said the capsular bag should more or less shrink wrap around the lens and smooth out the stretch line, which will solve the problem. If not, he thought the YAG laser should solve the problem as it can with a secondary cataract. Since I do not drive much at night, the streaks and halos are not really causing me any real problems - just annoyance. After about a year post surgery, I may look into the YAG if I feel the problem is causing a certain level of quality of life problems.
After reading all these posts, it seems there are a lot of different outcomes from cataract surgery depending on the individual. My vision had become so blurry, I had to have cataract surgery to carry on with daily activities. Since I only have one good eye, I was really apprehensive about things going wrong with that eye during or after surgery, but it did not happen. The surgery did not hurt. I was fully awake during the procedures and my doctor guided me on moving the eye or holding the eye still, during surgery, to help him clean out the cataract. They did provide some happy medicine before and during the procedure, so it didn't really bother me. The real upside is the clarity and sharpness of the vision in my left eye. I only need glasses for reading now and the inexpensive reading glasses work just fine. Before surgery I wore glasses, most of my life, for reading and distance.
Hi, thank you for your video!
I have 4.5 and 3.5 farsighted and a astigmatism. No cataract! But I see less good the last years. More and more. My doc offer me a cataract surgery for new lenses (mulifocal) and say it would be a 'bring forward/prepone cataract surgery'. Until today I have no indication or presage to get a cataract someday. But the stats show I will probably. But he say I will need no glasses in future and 'maybe' look better/sharper than with glasses today. Do you have a idea or opinion about this offer? Do you think it could worth it? Or do you would say, you would never do this without a strong medical reason? Thank you!
I had multifocal lens in left eye 2 months ago halos and flares around lights at night are real bad, I wish I had gone with standard lens . I am having right eye done with standard lens in Feb.2019 you also lose some sharpness with Symphony multifocal lens. Take time ask a lot of questions for me the halos and flares are just miserable and make night driving bad. I wear a contact in right eye which sees much sharper DR. said with regular lens it will be just like wearing contact lens, both eyes are 20/20 right is just way sharper and nothing around lights. Hope this somehow helps,Good Luck.
I’m expecting cataract surgery this month. Particularly interested in your prescription glasses for computer work. I was hoping to get away from expensive prescription glasses and only use those inexpensive store glasses. It now occurs to me that prescription may be the better choice as it should prevent eye strain. Store glasses may be ‘good enough’ for short term viewing but to read a book/work on computer, proper power prescription glasses may be best. Am I understanding your choice? It now makes sense and I feel better about the prospect of still wanting prescription glasses. Hopefully, they should be less costly than my current glasses.
Hey Fred, I live in Australia and the optometrist charges like a wounded bull. Go on the computer and have a look at a mob called Zenni optical. Loads of frames for men and women. If you know how to put your photo on their website , you can try different frames on your face. I get a free prescription for glasses each year, choose a frame , type in my prescription and options (I get the ones that go dark in the sun) and two weeks later they are in your letter box. Around 20% of the cost in a local optometrist. 👍
Which type of lens did you get? Great report
What type of lens did you have implanted?
good video
I had a cataract implant surg in 1994 and had to sign papers stating I could have a droopy lid after. What I did not kno was I'd not be able to see up close with tht eye :( I have not had the other eye done and it seems like it's not as bad or even better than it was then. They said it wasn't "ripe" or ready then.
I can see at distance fine but I also had astigmatism so I was told I could not wear contacts. I tried anyway....3 types, mono, bifocal and another. They felt fine at first but my eyes are dry and sensitive so after a few hrs, they feel dry even using drops. So i still wear glasses. I continue to ask why I can't have Lasix and they say it's the astigmatism so I continue to wait until they perfect the implants for astigmatism, etc. As it was and still is, both my eyes are diff..one sees much better than the other so i was already wearing a mixed Rx. If they can find implants to help astigmatism and cataracts, tht will be great. Decades later my bew eye dr said he was watching me for glaucoma because the interior of my eye revealed large cups, whtever tht means and it makes me a candidate for getting glaucoma but not necessarily tht I will. Neither parent had cataracts or glaucoma or retina issues. They strtd wearing glasses in their 40s as normal. I was 29 when I discovered astigmatism.
So I've worn glasses eversince all day. They told me most vain women wouldn't even wear glasses like I did but I like things clear and sharp and being a hair colorist I need to see true color. After my surg in just 1 eye, it was like all lights were turned on high. I was shocked. Then later I asked if possible tht the implant could also develop the same film tht normal eye gets and he said yes. So perhaps my implant is not as bright now making the other eye not seem worse.
Trying bifical contacts was awful. I would rather have both corrected for distance and wear reading glasses as you are. Im in US and appreciate u telling me any new things in this field since 1994. Thx, Rhonda
I comtin
I’m not a doctor but I had cataracts surgery and afterwards I was informed I had glaucoma…I would suggest you go back to your doctor and have him check your eye pressure …keep keep me informed
Jim
…
sir also tell the side effect of detachment retinal fold
I had the retina surgery I feel slight prickles of pain. No cataract surgery yet. In the next couple weeks.
hi just wNt to clarify you were fitted with monofocal for distance and you say night driving is a little difficult but i thiught all these halos and stuff sre side effects of multifocal lens znd monofocal distance vision is very clear
Saw starburts the first day and was very concerned but the problem subsided next day. When going from dark to light see swirls around the outer corners of my eye. It's been 12 days now and have only had one eye operated. Had a Victretomy 4 months previous on same eye before Cataract surgery
Hi, What type of lens did you have implanted.. Didn't have time to see the entire video or series..Was it a Symfony Lens? You didn't go with mono-vision correct?
My Doctor is recommending the Symfony too.. .so I'm interested in the answer.. but $3250 more per eye... and have read where folks have had them removed...
do you use mono/multi focal lenses ?
I'm doing mine today
Hi your video helped me a lot. Next month I am having laser surgery on both eyes for cataracts. Mine bother me so much, especially in fluorescent light, everything looks blurry and has a haze in the room, I assume this is from the cataracts. Did you experience this before surgery ? Please reply. I'm nervous about my eye moving during surgery because I'm opting for the topical application. I also believe I am getting the multi focal lenses. My eyes are sensitive to bright light, was yours ? I look forward to a response and thank you for the very informative video
monofocal lenses give much clearer vision, and less glare, but you have to wear glasses to read. With multifocal lenses you may have only a single number (not bifocals) or perhaps no spectacles number, but vision is not so clear with less contrast and more glare. So if glare troubles you go for monofocals.
bhatti eye Thanks
It was good to hear about your experience. I had my cataracts removed last year and now have the best vision I have ever had. I used to wear glasses to see anything, distance or near. I lived with that, it was fine, but after having the new lenses everything was so much clearer and brighter. My night vision is so much better. Unlike you, I am able to drive at night with greater confidence now. I can remember that halo effect from oncoming headlights when I was learning to drive in my teens. I just thought it was normal. It wasn't until after my surgery that I discovered that it is not. The secret, I discovered in the old way of things, is to look just above or below the lights, not directly at them.
What is the type of your lens?
@@somardithay6698 I don't know the manufacturer, but they are plastic things that were unrolled inside my eye - I saw it happening. If I concentrate on it, I can see the edges in my peripheral vision.
I've just had lens replacement surgery - single vision lenses - I'm curious - why didn't you go for multi focal lens?
For the simple reason that I wasn't offered the option on the NHS. But in any case I am completely fine wearing reading glasses...and from what I've heard multi focal lenses are not always a perfect solution.
Which lens you have installed
Did you have a choice as to lens type? I’ve always been nearsighted and the thought of wearing reading glasses in bed with a book is not ideal. I was thinking I’d do distance in one eye and close-up in the other. And would multi-focus have cost you more? Thanks. PS. Sometimes I feel like I’m squinting, but it must be tension in the muscle because I don’t see it in the mirror. Your eyes look young and rested.
my optometrist told me that a few of his patients that had one distance and one close-up lens inserted regretted it later
I see the halo effect now before cataract surgery. I was hoping getting it would lessen the effect.
Me too! The reason I'm getting cataract surgery is to get rid of the halos.
Hi, thanks a lot for the for the video. I am 35 with high myopia of - 26.i am going to have cataract surgery very soon. Just wanted to know which lens should I opt for, monofocal or multifocal?. And what are the chances of RD after surgery and how quick can I go back to work after surgery. Would the left eye need cataract surgery too?.. Too many q s:)
I am waiting for my operation and presently use continuous wear monofocal contact lenses ( one eye for distance and the other for close use ) I can sleep in these lenses and they give me excellent all round vision. I adapted to them very quickly and would like this set up with the implants as my choice.
Which lens did u use
my parent can get monofocal that focus close and require glasses for distance....
Hello mate any floaters or debris after the surgery and the yag laser ?
Sorry for late reply... yes after the surgery I had a lot, but it cleared up after a few weeks. From what I remember the yag laser caused a bit more debris but again it went away fairly quickly. I have virtually no floaters these days...get the occasional one but it never stays around for long :-)
I recently had cateric surgery. I could not see well at night. I had toric lenses placed in my eyes. My distance is great. I do need reading glasses. I can see much better at night. Many of the headlights do bother me. In my opinion these super bright headlights should be outlawed. Not only do they impair vision bu they are way out of adjustment and aiming way to high.
I decided I can't afford the laser so I'm going with the manual surgery, how was your vision right after the surgery ?
I had the laser with a toric lens. My results were 20/15 vision ten minutes after the operation. I went home without even a shield on my eye. The laser saves the eye[lens sac] from a lot of trauma.
I had 1 eye july 12th,
2nd is sched.aug.25th
I have a crescent dark shadow on the side..
Still, it's slowly receding, had a floater..now has about dissappear.
Dr said a little strand ,
And crescent will subside? I hope 2nd doesn't have as much
Inflammation . As I'm 2025 ( acceptable)
[I WAS 20/200] up till arms length..monofocal..
, slight glare, The outside sun.
I expected just reading glasses..
I was suggested today by the eye specialist for having a cataract surgery.. but the only problem i really have is the halo effect issue.. i cant see any thing at night when a light hits me straight in the eyes.. but now even when the sunlight bounces off the ground and enters my eye.. it hurts a bit which I wasnt experiencing before.. any suggestions? I might have a surgery in a day or two.. so i really need some answers asap.. that should I really have the surgery or not.. well I have been wearing glases from 10 years and im just 21
Did you get the surgery in the end? I hope your doing well.
Thank you so much. So helpful!
