Thanks, great choices. I am always frustrated that in recent years, those softer feathers you mentioned on the underneath side of dry fly hackle necks, often get trimmed and removed now, so unless you have older necks, you may not find them on the newer ones.

Ya know its tough. I didn’t tie for awhile but had to because the flies I wanted to use didn’t exist. If you’re not disciplined enough to only have materials you will actually use then this side of fly fishing will become very expensive quickly! Thank you for the suggestion
Marabou is my number one go-to for a lot of patterns, Peacock Herl is my second most used, and Hackle is my third most used.
Nice! i am slightly similar to you. Marabou and Flank feathers then hackles for me🙂
