Thanks for joining us on this trip where we explored the area around Vanwyksdorp, what an extraordinarily beautiful part of South Africa! We stayed on the lovely Buffelshoek Farm in the very comfortable Buffelshoek Cottage.
Both Mia and Frikkie joined us on this trip, this is a first for a BRC trip 😀
We show you all in two videos:
Episode 1: We travel from Cape Town to Buffelshoek Farm and make a wonderful stop at the famous Barrydale roadhouse on Route 62 called Diesel & Créme. We show you more of the beautiful Buffelshoek Farm that includes a very interesting walk up the kloof
Episode 2: We drive the beautiful Rooiberg Pass close to Vanwyksdorp. We were overwhelmed by the most beautiful aloes! We probably had the best ever remote brunch ever on BRC in arguably one of the most beautiful settings... We explore Vanwyksdorp itself, what a lovely town with loads of atmosphere and a beautiful church.

Wonderful video, thanks for taking us along! It’s not often the Karoo is blessed with such good rain as recent times. But when it is, the absolute spectacle of nature makes one feel so close to creation. Team BRC, you delivered!! Tell Frikkie I said “woof”!!! Thanks to all.

Absolutely Gorgeous footage! Thank you soooo much - this is my lovely friend's farm - Liz Eglington! She is a huge inspiration - voted Female farmer of the year, a few years ago & has a work drive that matches nobody else! We only met Liz briefly when we left, as she was at Wild Oats market on the Saturday, but fully agree, she is doing amazing work! Buffelshoek was very special, the cottage a lovely breakaway stay, and the surrounding area was spectacularly beautiful!

Your drone footage showing the breathtaking scenery of the lush green country side was amazing as was the footage of your walk to the creek. ( I was there with you - my kind of exploring )👍

Ah, thanks, Jane! It is great that you 'joined' us on this wonderful trip 😀 We agree, it was truly breathtaking and the greenness was almost overwhelming... We are still checking Frikkie now about two and a half weeks after the trip, and thankfully no symptoms of tick fever 🙂

Annelie and Mia, your initial “wish” to be somewhere in nature, with surrounded by peace and tranquility, was not only granted, but surely exceeded all expectations! Apart from the ticks, this appears to have been an idyllic escape!
The scenery en route to Barrydale and beyond is marvellous and Buffelshoek Cottage a delightful home from home, with picture perfect weather. I could happily have stayed for several days 😊
Your thoughtful preplanning and careful post-editing in creating this visual masterpiece deserves special recognition, Werner! In particular, your arrival at the cottage so ingeniously filmed from the air (no film crew trailing you!). And, as always, your lovely supporting cast ( Annelie, Mia, Frikkie) are “absolute naturals” adding their own particular charm to the authenticity of each moment ☺️

Frikkie always does his best to enhance the show with his precious personality - this time, resting his sleepy head on Dad’s shoulder in the car 🥰
He adds a special magic to the familial joie de vivre with his enthusiastic embrace of every new adventure. As his parents, you are to be commended with being disciplined and responsible, ensuring he stays within a healthy weight 👏🏻🙌🏻
We all want you to live a full, long life, Frikkie! I know (from lots of experience) that those appealing eyes can be very hard to resist!
Gogga did a superb job of capturing the vast landscapes from her elevated gaze (under your astute control, Werner) and Annelie, your music selections enhance our emotional enjoyment. I cannot wait for next week’s installment!

We were indeed blessed with a wonderful weekend, weather wise, but also to be able to just spend time in such lush green, and unbelievably beautiful, surroundings... 🙂
The arrival scene at the cottage, you are right, this had to be planned and both myself and Annelie worked quite hard on the planning and execution of the scene 🙂 We are pleased how it worked out, and you highlighting this scene in your comments makes me very happy!
With Frikkie, everything just comes naturally, he is an absolute joy of a dog, we love him to bits. It is just sad that we can not take him with every single time that we make a trip...
Apologies again for the late reply, we were on a trip this weekend and only arrived back home after dark today! This was not the plan, but we enjoyed ourselves so much that we lost track of time... It was a special trip, we took roads driven before and stayed in a place we've stayed before, but there is one BIG difference to this trip 😉 No more said, but it looks like about 6 hours of footage that will become a two video series again... 🙂
For this coming Sunday Vanwyksdorp Ep2 only needs some refinement and will be ready... I think you will really like this one as well, the beauty simply became more beautiful and Frikkie and Mia are with us all the way... 😀

Hi Frikkie en familie. Nog n wonderlike deel van ons land. Goeie inspirasie om dit ook te ervaar. Werner, watter tyd van die jaar was julle daar. Het self nog nie afgedwaal vanaf Roete 62 nie, sal dus na Vanwyksdorp MOET gaan. Ons Bella sal dit vergewis meemaak.

Hi Jan, dankie vir jou boodskap, ek stem saam, dit is 'n wonderlike deel van ons land en dit was die eerste keer dat ons die omgewing van Vanwyksdorp gaan ontdek het 😀 Ons was die naweek van 15-16 Jun 2024 daar, so lyk my dit is 'n goeie tyd om dit so groen te sien en ook al die aalwyne wat so blom... Ek kan dit sterk aanbeveel, en, ja, vat vir Bella asseblief saam wanneer julle soontoe gaan 😀
