    nice demonstration of how good savate is and should be feared and respected

    The difference is also the origin of all these martial arts... Savate comes from France, Full Contact, Kick Boxing are a mix of Boxing and Karate, and Mhuay Thai is from Thailand... The technics are all slightly different, but you are right once in the ring it is not so easy to see the differences

    I am just learning about Savate because of a fighter who trains with my gym. His name is Karl Amossou (I believe that is the spelling) He is a fighter on Bellatore now (he fights March 30th 2012. I have noticed that he attacks the front of the leg a lot more often that Muay thai fighters, and he can sweep front legs with no problem. Savate seems to be a nice counter to a good Muay Thai fighter because the Savate fighter will always be outside of the Muay Thai fighters comfortable range.

    I wouldn't say this guy was being a coward, but more like he was really trying to stay on his toes and watch the other dude's movements. Savate ain't as highly known as other arts are, but it can seriously demolish a person who doesn't pay attention.

  • @aiyer1989
    @aiyer1989 13 років тому +4

    @cwmyr Nice post, though I wouldn't call toe kicks a negative thing. Truth is that when you're wearing shoes, the toe kick does more damage. (Greater rotational speed and smaller point of contact. And a greater reach as well). However, if you don't wear shoes, you're gonna bust your toes up. But, in a street setting (yes, I know it's the old street argument) how often are you going to be without shoes? So while it's a disadvantageinthe ring, I'd say it's a plus towards self defence.

  • @tadorjee

    Savate must be allowed in savate dress and savate shoes.Here Savate fight have disadvantage as they were not use to fight with bare foot.

  • @aiyer1989

    @cwmyr Also, savate uses checks as well though just like muay thai does though most savateurs will dodge when given the chance. It's the footwork speaking.

    @bob23yer there's lots of subtleties in technique and tactics for each style, for example the way they strike their roundhouse kicks,thai's with the shin,savate with the instep.
    Another example is Thais generally have a more square stance,sometimes have more open guard because they like to grab kicks,as opposed to kick boxers who have a more narrow stance.
    Things like how they guard when throwing kicks,slip and block punches etc all differ,guess to average person its hard to pick up.

    dynamic of the fight, distance, boxing and kicking techniqes, training process, all is different
    in savate it is forbiden to block kicks, while in muay thay blocking is elementary, so is clinching and infighting, elbow is most welcomed...and the savate she...

      What u mean forbidden? Ur not supposed to block roundhouse kicks with ur hands....they definitely check kicks with the shin

  • @Lunartrek
    @Lunartrek 13 років тому +3

    @bob23yer It takes having some knowledge of some of the common combinations and striking techniques that each style uses. It's not always easy to tell, it's true, but the more you know about a given style the easier it becomes to pick it out in a fight. That said, once most fighters start to become fatigued, style takes a back seat and it becomes more of a brawl which always just looks like human ferocity.

    What I don't understand is how you see the difference between kickboxing, Mhuay Tahi, Savate, Full Contact or whatever. For me they all just throw punches and kicks toward eachother untill one of them falls down. It all looks the same. Like in this vid...how do you see who is the savateman and the mhuay thai man? What's the difference?

      Because what you have seen is French boxing ( boxe française ) not savate . Savate is the martial art were French boxing is the combat sport . It is amalgamated but this is like saying there is no elbow or knee strike in karaté because they don't use them to spar .

    but savate without shoes is really like kick, full or muay thai, cause you cant hit properly without hurting you your foot, thats why they use a shoe, like the old savate from the city of Marseille, and thaths from my point of view the most powerful weapon of savate the mix between leg kick and shoe... whats more I didnt see any " chaussé bas" de la part du savate man.

    @julio26789 True. Once you restrict a style then you're no longer fighting agains the actual style.
    I rate both Muay Thai and savate. However, the only way to rate the two is to allow full use of both their individual weapons. Restrict elbows and knees of MT and you're no longer fighting against a MT practitioner.
    It's like saying the savate guy isn't allowed to use savate kicks.

    • @stormbringer2840
