Hare's Ear Soft Hackle, Holsinger's Fly Shop

This fly is one of the first flies I learned to tie over 30 years ago. The key to fly tying is keeping it thin, that fact is emphasized in this video. Great looking pattern. I tie mine with a bright orange head. I second your opinion it’s a great fish catching fly. Most of strikes come on the swing.

I've always tied the traditional form with tail, wings, and beard hackle, but I really like the looks of this soft-hackle version. Thanks for the video. I'll give this one a try next time I'm tying.
