Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 вер 2024
- The wait is over and Michael Myers is back! Ignoring all sequels, Halloween takes us back to the original John Carpenter classic to tell the story of a very different Laurie Strode as she prepares and waits for the inevitable return of the Boogeyman. With huge anticipation and overwhelmingly positive reception, is Halloween the sequel we've all been waiting for?

Just want to thank all of you who can actually have a good conversation on this movie...whether you agreed with me or completely disagreed. The best part of doing this channel is getting to talk with all of you who not only respects but appreciates different opinions. For those that have turned this comment section into a toxic wasteland, you are what's wrong with movie fandom. Yes, I love RZH2. Yes, I'm dominantly a Freddy fan. Neither of these facts invalidates my opinion on this film nor does it validate your misplaced self entitlement as "true fans". If you shit on someone for their opinion simply because it's not identical to yours, congrats you are not a true fan of anything. In conclusion, 3.4/5 is a positive review...everyone saying I hate the movie needs to go back to 1st grade and learn numbers.
Cody Leach Preach! Thanks for saying this. Been getting so much nasty hate from professed “true fans” for expressing my criticisms on the movie Facebook page. But alas it seems we are far from alone in our opinions.
You are on the internet. What do you expect? Lots of dumbasses on here that have nothing else better to do, but, argue with other people, just because they can
Dman W what are your thoughts on the film? Did you dislike it and feel underwhelmed as well?
I thought it was just ok. More underwhelmed and overhyped. I noticed something was missing right from the start of the movie. I am trying to pinpoint it down. I think there was very little character development, I think
Cody Leach dude you do an awesome job on your reviews man you and lee from drumdums are killing it keep up the good work
Honest and fair review brother. Obviously I enjoyed a lot of the things that you didn’t like, but that’s what opinions are all about. Opinions are not facts and for people to attack you because of your opinion on a movie is just wrong. Had to get this out there.
Thanks man. Yeah I'm probably not even gonna keep up with the comments on this one. Was also gonna see it a 2nd time but people have already soured me on this.
Cody Leach i love the movie and your review
Drumdums facts!!!
Drumdums Couldn’t have said it better. Love you videos, Lee!
Agreed Lee!
Damn Cody. Those Gunshots are jump scares done right.
I had my laptop's sound up quite loud and I was like "Bloody hell."
@Go Time Now thanks man. I had a tear going I was pissed it didnt show on camera
My main negative is the “new Loomis” I was so upset at the direction they took that character but that’s my opinion. Absolutely agree with you there! Still good. Probably most kills in franchise
I liked the guy. He was a Michael Myers fan boy who was obsessed by his evil nature.
Halloween 4 definitely had way more he took out a whole police station
Well lets ask deadmeat James lmao
I'm an old school horror fan , and I thought the movie was great !
Because it was my friend G R E A T of course he did like it he liked Rob Zombies H2
Was good horror hound I’m a fan
This movie is NOT GREAT at all.
There is just more flaws than good, that itll just take too long to put into words here in the comment section. Its ok but definitely not great in my eyes.
Exactly, because your a little man child running off of your nostalgic hype for the original movie. And that’s exactly why this movie fucking sucked.
HorrorHound 85 we just got back from seeing the movie and I absolutely loved it! 🎃🧡🖤
That podcast girl should of left the bathroom, but she just stood there to die

This is the kind of review that makes me respect the hell out of you Cody. Never sugar coated.
Thanks man
I had earphones on for the Intro!!
Scared the shit out of me😂😂
Me too
I was watching it home alone on the dark
Same! 😂
Yeah that opening scene was amazing and then the opening credits with the jack-o-lantern from the original regenerating gave me chills
It was so good.
Better than 4,5,h20,resurrection and rob zombie Halloween movies
Stormtrooper Necromancer
I agree
So, you are saying that it isn't bad, but, not great either
Agree
That places it firmly in the middle , around 6 then right? Cause i like 6 lol
This is in my top 3 so not middle
I agree with you on the Sartain character. It was a sad twist.
Ryan Balmer I loved the actor and was hoping to see better than him get head smooshed.
I hated his character and glad to see him die lol
Same here! Still don't know what the point of his character was other then being a discount Loomis!
The movie gave me mixed feelings just everywhere, I left and was just like I don’t know how to feel. 😕 that emoji describes my reaction after walking out of the theater.
That's exactly how I felt. Wasn't sure if I liked or didn't like?
I really loved it up until the ending, which was a massive disappointment. The thing is, when a movie ends like that it makes your last impression a negative one, which can make you think about all the flaws the movie actually has. I did love the movie still, but I'm not gonna lie when I say that I was slightly soured when I left the theater.
Same I felt such missed feelings. I didn't know how to feel. It was uncertain didn't love it or hate it , yet I expected more and was disappointed
That's cause it sucked
Part II will always be the second best Halloween movie.
6 E Q U J 5 in your opinion and that’s perfectly fine
I disagree 4 and h20 right now are
@Niger Nelly no one cares bro. why do you comment this on every video about halloween.
@Niger Nelly haha you're so quirky.
season of the witch
For me it goes Halloween 1 and than this one.
I loved it
Glad you liked it
Horror Horror for me it goes Halloween (1978), H20, Halloween (2018) the rest suck
Me too
What about season of the Witch, or the original sequel to 1978?
@john doe Halloween II '81 "smokes" every other sequel.
I just got back from seeing it, and even though it wasn’t perfect, I absolutely loved it. Myers, and Laurie were really well done, and I really liked the storyline despite a few narrative twists. The humor was a little over-the-top a few times, but it wasn’t a deal breaker. And the score was absolutely phenomenal. This movie is easily in the top 3 Halloween films for me.
I'm so excited to see this tomorrow! My first Halloween movie in Theaters!
Saturday : Omg I Freaking Loved It ! It was really good
Same
McKenzie Dudgeon same
McKenzie Dudgeon im excited about seeing this Saturday
Drake Duhboi I think it might be as good or slightly better than the original
Green Phantom I’m a huge Michael Myers fan of course I’m not letting him ruin it for me
wow man. not even top 5? no way this movie is worse than 5, 6, h20, resurrection, or either zombie films. i just saw it, i honestly thought you were gonna be like “just kidding” or something when you said you were disappointed. best since 1978 in my opinion.
I'm the rare fan of RZH2 so that one movie kicks this out of the top 5 for me.
Cody Leach watched the RZH2 review right after this one. for some reason your opinion on 2018 made me think you like RZH2. i’m on the closer side of defending it than hating it but still can’t say it’s better than the new film. btw love the channel man. disagree here though
NBG CHEESE You stupid fucks need to stop determining your opinions off this movie based off of his opinions. Seriously, grow some fukin balls
@@zomeister8367 Says the bitch hiding behind a keyboard...hilarious
Disagree but I like your review still.
Btw this video was posted on one of reddit cringe subreddits :/
Oh well
I really loved this movie!
After you just gave Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 a glowing review, this does not surprise me.
I know... I was disappointed because a few background character didn't do it for me and there wasn't 1 white horse in the whole movie lol shut up this might be the best one yet
Nnnnnnnn that shade sis!
Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 was trash
TheJoker27780
Lmao! Ikr! This Halloween movie was great👍🏼
I really thought Cody would like this New one, but like you said , if he likes Rob Zombie's Halloween, then I guess I see he's rating of this one, but I have to admit, after I left the theater, I got home and couldn't wait to hear what he had to say though.,
Your review is 100% exactly what I thought!! I couldn't stand the daughter actress in the role and I actually said during movie (daughters husband)..."did he really just say that" and the dr character made me laugh to myself when I thought about the head elf from THE NIGHT THEY SAVED CHRISTMAS! LOL your gunshots were the scarriest part of my night
The theater I went to watch the movie today, people were literally laughing at the closet scene lmao
I just saw it and I have to say I'm a little dissapointed, but I still really enjoyed it. I didnt care for a lot of the humor, and I didnt really like the ending. But I really enjoyed everything else in the film
My rating for Halloween 2018 75%
Getting serious T2 Sarah Connor vibes from Laurie
Edit: Dammit you said that in the video
Sure did lol
Cody Leach Speaking of T2, you need to review that. Such a damn good film
seeing it in about 12 hours, first time seeing a halloween movie in the cinemas.
Awesome!
So that's 2 UA-camrs I watch that are disappointed with the movie you and Chris Stuckmann. I'm interested in what Lee thinks.
I'm morbidly curious what Lee is gonna say
Cody Leach
Hey man why'd you delete my channel? Such an angry scared guy. Deep down under all that pale fat and douchey attempt at a goatee, their is a guy that is so pathetic and miserable that he is scared to have one of his subscribers disagree with him. Halloween, Halloween ll and H2O is still my favorite timeline

Just got back from seeing Halloween (2018) and I can't agree more. I left the theatre extremely disappointed with this film and the directions it took. The writing was awful and I just could not believe the underwhelming ending. There are a few good sequences but I could not care about any of the characters. I am genuinely surprised by the high reviews of this film.
You have no taste then.
I'm glad I'm not alone in being disappointed. I agree with pretty much everything you said. So much potential, with so many of the right ingredients, but ultimately, it just doesn't come together.
Just saw it: Man it was way better than you are giving it credit for!! This movie was about PTSD and, even though its a popular opinion, done in a much more believable way than H2 (which I didn't hate btw.) I think it was going to be impossible to live up to the hype because of how mad its been since the last couple reworks/reboots (F13 reboot was good.) Everyone has an opinion, obviously you are entitled to yours as I love your reviews, but I feel like you might like it more on a second watch without the hype. The cop scene I think was a throwback to Halloween 5 with the two dunces imo. I could be wrong though.
No no no, H20 was much more realistic it is totally unbelievable turning Laurie into a Sarah Connor type character was nonsensical.
DNICE41 H20 wasn’t bad but the script wasn’t great. She trained for 40 years, reliving the event over and over again. You got to see her training. 40 years is definitely enough time for someone to become proficient with firearms. Plus, since JLC is against firearms, she only uses Winchester, revolver and that shotgun (all weapons that JLC claims fall under the 2A.) I don’t think she was Sarah Connor per say but definitely badass. A different version of PTSD than H20 but superior in my opinion
@@Gannecus86 I accept the internal logic of the premise it's just people go through horrible things all the time. They dont spend decades building a base camp full of booby traps and ammunition waiting for said bad thing to happen again. I thought it was an over the top reaction by the character that borders on fantasy. It didn't fit with the more grounded tone of the rest of the film.
The ending happened abruptly BUT I did appreciate 2 things. First I like the so called torch being passed to Allyson when she picks up the knife and gets the last stabs. I also liked it when they show Michael Myers surrounded by fire but in the very last shot of the basement he's not there. It's a good movie and I kinda liked the twist with the new doctor.

Sarah Gardner I thought it was great and it’s in my top 3. Everyone is gonna have different opinions on it cause movies are subjective. Go see it for yourself and make your own opinion instead of letting others make it for you.
I just wanted to say it's been a blast reviewing my favorite franchise with you Cody you really put work, thought, and effort into all of your reviews, and your intros are entertaining as well because your acting is better than a lot of actors of the horror genre; who knows if you were back in the day you might have put TINA out of a job lol jk you would've!!!
Thanks a lot man lol
Cody, I like that u have different opinions then everybody else.. you’re a real dude and that’s why I’m a fan of yours
Thanks man
I was disappointed man.
I feel like this is basically gonna be an h20 again for 2018. Rob zombies contributions to the franchise are original and changing things to what was the original just like the thorn trilogy. I think the fact that Rob zombies name is attached to the work is always a factor. Where it had been the exact same movie without knowing rob zombie had made it, it would have got a different reaction. Guess I should have said so on the previous reviews. But my point is that it's not easy to relay something that is well respected.
Nigel Nelson where at?
Agree with you 100%. Disappointed in the way they went. Had such potential... disappointed like the Nun
Cody...you hit it on spot! Let me just say I am a true Halloween Fan and have been since the first movie. I have to agree with some of the comments about H2 (Rob Zombie) BUT you are so correct about everything you reviewed in this film! The first part of the film, in my opinion, was great and then it slowly declined to an ending that just was so bland and anti-climactic as you stated. Michael Myers was the best since the first film by far. He was the best part of the entire movie. They didnt spend enough time with him and interactions with Lorie Strode's character in my opinion. The Granddaughter was done well, but even the interaction with her and Michael Myers, you think is going to be more in depth, but nothing! What was the point of the 5 minute scenes cut in at different times her running through the woods? I mean, there was no point to it at all! The daughters part was horrible....until the end twist she gave to "playing helpless"....that was her high point! The "New Loomis"......what a joke! OTHER THAN the first part of the film....this character shouldve never been in the film! Donald Pleasence's character was NOTHING like this one...at all! It's an insult to the original Dr. Loomis. Michael Myers and Lorie Strode characters are what makes this movie. It's sad that one of the most tense moments of this movie happens before the "Halloween" title is on with the mask and the reporter. For true Halloween Fans this was surely a disappointment. If you are new to the Halloween Franchise, this might satisfy you and I still think John Carpenter is a genius but I sincerely wish his return to the franchise in some form would have been better. The next time I see this will definitely be on Blu-Ray! Again, kudos to Michael Myers and Lorie Strode's characters performance but the rest is just low grade filler! But...I guess opinions vary and should! Your review was on point and fair in my opinion Cody!!!
It was so left field, that I was BANKING on that doctor to pull up his sleeve and reveal the Thorn tattoo, hearkening back to Curse of Michael Myers. I actually WISH that was going to be the point, but then they just dumped that damn plot because I guess Michael was worth more the community to kill Laurie and then he's complete and will not kill anymore....? I wish they did not kill off the Sheriff with the doctor killing him--Michael should have done it (if he had to die).
Not even close to Malcolm McDowell's Loomis? Damn.
Brent Ryan he’s a different type of character than Loomis. He has a different motivation from the original Loomis of keeping him locked away forever. Didn’t like the character overall and especially because of the twist but I don’t think they wanted to portray him as an overall well liked character.
William A this whole movie was garbage. Setting fans up to think this new guy is the new Loomis, and then Laurie strode even saying to him “you’re the next Loomis” only to have that horrible twist and for him to get killed? What trash. The appearance of Loomis in every film of the series prior to H20 was one of the most endearing qualities of this series.
Sociopath Survivor I don’t think they set up the guy to be the new Loomis at all leading up to the movie. I didn’t see a single trailer that even showed the doctor. We didn’t know as fans that there would be a new Loomis. Now with how they set him up in the movie, yeah that’s frustrating as fuck. Also even if he was a good Loomis type of character I thought the line of Laurie saying “you’re the new Loomis” was stupid.
William A I agree that really was a stupid line. The dialogue was atrocious. I honestly felt this movie just recycled and that the Easter eggs even backfired because it came off as trying too hard. That stupid line “you’re the new Loomis” is an exact example of what i mean by trying too hard. I really hated this movie. It was utter garbage to me. Rob zombie has gained some respect from me now. At least his Michael was truly truly vicious.
@@sociopathsurvivor7129 I'm lukewarm on this movie but I actually smiled at the *New Loomis* scene, because there's no doubt in my mind that everyone who knows the franchise was asking that very same question the moment he was introduced.
Agreed all the way about the Zombie version of Myers. It's way less about his sheer size than it is his brutality. If you're sharing a scene with him you have zero chance.
them gunshots scared tf outta me😁
Niger Nelly cool did you meet any of the crew
Disagree with all of your points. I absolutely loved it! My favorite sequel thus far.
Fair enough glad you liked it
Only issue I had with this movie was the journalist being useless. Served no other purpose than to get Michael his mask and the movie would've been the exact same without it. Same with getting entire scenes devoted to Cameron JUST to have Allison's phone break. We did not need a whole character just to make her unreachable. Way too many scenes devoted to these characters just to pad the run time. While I liked the movie overall, I do have other criticisms, but these ones got me. Not even getting home and thinking back on it, literally leaving the theater and saying "why the fuck were these people introduced?"
I think the movie was good. I think the movie should've been great.
My 2nd favorite halloween. My only major issue is the new Dr twist. I think it was like you said to answer the small issues early. But also it was How to get Myers to lorrie in the end. But the twist defiantly hurt it. Besides that it was exactly what I thought we'd get. Could of cut back on humor but honestly with who wrote it I expected it. 8.5 out of 10 here.
Josh Moses 100% agree
Kiaif you expected more from the series then you hadn't watched anything beyond the first 2. I love the series, but God it's hard to watch all them back to back anymore.
I was disappointed as well. You pretty much said what I was thinking, except I thought most of the humor was fine. I also thought it was a little hard to believe that this is the same Shape that stalked Laurie for a day and only killed a few people in the original.
I actually jumped at the first gunshot sound lol
Pains me to say this as im a huge Halloween fan but i have to agree with Codys review, the Doctor subplot is just daft & the ending was very abruptly done, brilliantly reviewed Cody you tell it as you see it & you perfectly summed up this very average movie.
Just got back from seeing this. Completely agree with you on this one! Left the theater with mixed feelings
The original ending was the final confrontation between Laurie
and Michael in the front yard of her property! Which is seen in the trailers...
when she goes at Michael with a Knife and Michael head tilts
(an awesome movement by Courtney) away from her slash,
Laurie... just barely missing him.
Go rewatch the trailers, it actually looked better than
what we ended up getting..
Something went wrong in editing w/ this film and it could of been a much better movie.
Go check out my comment on Drumdums review about all the material & dialogue
from the trailers that they cut from the final product...
Even the cutting, from scene to scene at times felt off.
And also they never even showed how Michael took control of the bus and made
it crash, something I was expecting. That would of been an awesome scene.
It's ridiculous.
To be honest I've heard the exact same complaints about the comedy shoved in at the wrong time. Why can't they just do a Halloween simple and scary like the original. Man I have a feeling I'm not gonna be happy , atmosphere is everything in a Halloween movie , even fan films get that part right whats wrong with these fucking directors .
Mike Joseph there’s teens in the movie and it’s 2018, you don’t want the movie to be insanely dry. Even the original had small bits of comedy in it and they don’t overdo it.
Remember dude these days theres alot of people calling the shots the one thing that the orginal really had going for it that most people forget is that john carpenter had the final say and final cut! No exc producers or studio overlaps!
William A this movie was such garbage. Laurie wasn’t even the main focus like the trailers lead you to believe. Who cares about stupid freakin teens getting high and wanting to have sex and the whole damn party scene. I wanted to see Laurie battling Michael. This movie plain sucked. Even the casting was so horrific. They all have the same look and so cliche. The granddaughter actress just annoyed me.
Mike Joseph Well I mean Danny McBride helped write this🤣
Sociopath Survivor we all have opinions and I agree to an extent but what’d you expect it’s hard to compete with the original and make it modern
I'm mixed too. This encapsulates of full range of the Halloween series, the good, bad, baffling moments, etc.
I liked the nod to the other Halloween movies. Like seeing the masks from Halloween 3. Didn't care for the school dance scene. I thought the guy playing Laurie's son in law was 1 of her ex husbands because he looked too old. Also, what happened to the boyfriend? He throws the phone in the punch bowl & we never see him again.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but you raise such a good point about misplaced humor in movies. A lot of writers think they're more clever than they really are. They think being self aware is being clever and deconstructionist. It's so cringey.
I actually enjoyed the Dr. Leemis segments as a whole more than the movie.
Wow...that's a huge compliment and a huge dig at the movie. Lol
I almost pissed my pants at the gunshots in the beginning 😂😂😂 my TV was super loud.
But great review, I definitely agree with your assessment of most of the characters.
You didn’t say anything about the score!
That's a fair point! Totally forgot. I liked it
Honestly bro you’re a good actor, these intros have been great and almost make me forget I clicked on a review
Thanks man
I wish that the Myers house was in the movie
I unfortunately could not agree more. I left the theater feeling disappointed and underwhelmed. I'm actually pissed off and feel like I've been fooled.
@Nigel Nelson Really? So you had the best seat in the house?
Somebody spoil 1 thing for me.....
WHERE IS BEN TRAMER?!
He survived without the murders involved, …and divorced with Laurie.
I liked it. Solid entry in franchise. Loved the final 20 minutes so much. It did at times lack that atmosphere you mention, and some of the writing for the younger cast members was forgettable. I thought Myers was at his scariest since original H2 though. Score was excellent. GREAT intro.
As soon as you started talking man, I knew what you where gonna say 😱😱
They called the killing the babysitter killings. Laurie was babysitting and got away. It makes sense without being siblings
This is what ive been saying if michael and Laurie are not related and hes doing this at random why still go after her in this film im sure there are more people in that town!!!
Yup. I don't buy Laurie either. She went through less than H20Laurie (because of retconning H2) and is no relation to him, so her utter, all-consuming obsession just felt really fake and OTT to me.
Just got out a few minutes ago from seeing it and I still dont know how to feel right now lol.
Can’t wait to see the movie. Appreciate your review and all your Halloween reviews. Is drumdums Dr. Leemis?
Yes
Cody Leach love when my two favorite reviewers get together. Is there a way to support your joint ventures?
I thought they would have shown how he was arrested in 78. There was a lot of plot holes and things not mentioned such as Michael's left eye. It just seemed as if Michael stumbles across Laurie by chance and I would have loved to see more of the investigation team looking at what happened in 1978
I know that but I would have liked the movie to have expanded on it. The podcasters don't even mention it
I sense that you like it more than you say you do in order to not get our expectations too high!
You sense wrong
@@CodyLeachYT I will be seeing it in an hour.
Nah this movie was so stupid
@@CodyLeachYT you were right. I think Halloween 5 was better, IMO
I disagree about the doctor. That twist explained how Michael escaped, why he was kept around for so long and he is the one that brought him to Laurie's house. Without the doctor Michael would've never went after Laurie. I thought it was an interesting surprising twist and actually made a decent amount of sense. The way he foreshadowed this by voicing his curiosities about "Studying Michael out in the wild." Also really ties things together. Honestly, I think a lot of people were looking for a 1978 Halloween look alike and when the movie went into different directions those same people got turned off. I personally went into this movie with rather low expectations and thought it was just going to be a predictable movie that recaptures the original. However, this movie is an entity of it's own and I honestly felt riveted by the unpredictable nature of this movie and refreshed by the newer pacing of it. I personally really liked this movie, more so than I ever expected. But, I do understand somewhat why others were disappointed.
I loved the film I thought it lived up to the hype for me but I respect your opinion and I understand everything you said great review man! I think this film will grow on you after second watch!
I've been following this movie for sometime.
Once it got close I started checking out all the reviews everywhere. All super positive. Calling it the "true" or "worthy" sequel. Got me super hyped. I started watching Cody just recently while he was reviewing each Halloween movie leading up to this one. It was a fun quick way to enjoy the Halloween movies leading up to what is being called a near masterpiece for the Halloween franchise. I enjoyed all of Cody's reviews and agreed with pretty much 95% of everything he had to say. Positives and negatives for each movie I could see and agree with.
I watched a ton of reviews on this movie. I even read the entire plot that someone spoiled (I love spoilers) and loved the story I read on paper.
I got up for work this morning around 3 am. Got on UA-cam to kill time before I had to actually had to leave. Saw Cody's spoiler free review and got excited to see what he thought.
I watched this review and was disappointed he felt that way. And the exact words that came out of mouth were "he is just being way to over critical. Every other review on the planet is glowing that I've seen."
So all day I'm super hyped and excited. Finish the movie, and holy hell. Cody was 100% correct with this review. Overall Halloween was a disappointment from what it was hyped to be. Definitely worth watching and it was fun. But overall I left feeling disappointed. And I can agree with Cody in the sense this movie won't even hit my top 5 favorite Halloween movies. Not saying its a terrible movie because by no means is it. Just not what everyone is hyping it up to be.
I clicked on this to see your intro, but man I’ll have to watch after I see it In just a hour I’ve been keeping away cause I want to see it myself keep up the good work man
Cool see you when you come back
Bro those gunshots almost made me shit myself i was so unprepared lmao
Enjoyed the review and did find it to be "spoiler free", so thanks for that.
Thank you
You know how you said the film references every other sequel except Resurrection, well someone pointed out a very subtle reference to it.
When Michael goes to the petrol station to get his mask and mechanic suit, you might notice a strange woman in a van. The van says "resurrection church."
Just saw it. Such a disapointment. For me it did not live up to all the hype. I think if may have helped if they hadn't given away so much in the trailers. I didn't find it scary or funny. It's not even a long movie, and it seemed to go on forever.
My hype for this movie has been killed quite a bit. Two of my favorite movie UA-camrs have given semi negative reviews. I'll be seeing the movie in theaters next week when I get paid
I agree with a lot of your points I think if certain things where edited out this would be a better movie! I actually thought the final showdown was fantastic that is where the atmosphere, suspense and tension really are and it's a great ending!
I have the best intros ever!! I seriously have been binge watching your videos. Love the reviews but been watching repeatedly for the intros. Lol
Is it me? Or is Michael Meyers looking more like Rick Astley these days?
Omg...
The original is my favorite movie of all time in general and I have always agreed with you when you said not only is one of the best horror movies but one of the best movies period. Going to watch the 1978 version tomorrow at home and then head to theaters to watch this one immediately after with some friends. I have high expectations as well and I already feel I will love it! But we will have to wait and see! Love your reviews, man!! Keep it up!
Damn It breaks my heart a little bit to hear you were kinda disappointed (although I do see that you didn't absolutely hate it and you said it was actually pretty good). I'm very excited to see it soon 😀
fanboys will love it simply because it's Michael Myers. real film goers who just want to see a good movie will be disappointed. I Was Highly disappointed and found my hype for this movie embarrassing to myself. it's literally h20 in 2018.
@@DalesBadBug wrong, its his opinion
Chainsaw Wielding Maniac
That’s what I said. They did literally nothing different from H20.
Chainsaw Wielding Maniac: save the snobby "real film goers" bit....as if liking this movie somehow invalidates you as a film fan.
The movie was fine. Flawed, like most movies, but it hit the beats it needed to, and explored some interesting themes. It was probably too ambitious in its story....I would have preferred a stronger focus on suspense and move scenes of Michael stalking. But for Green's first horror film I thought it was solid, and I think most people will get their money's worth.
I think Michael really wasn’t going after Laurie at all. He pretty much was out just killing people. I don’t wanna ruin it but you know the only reason he got to Laurie in the first place was because of the one character. I think the journalist guy set him off and he went on a killing spree and he wasnt really going after one particular person. And if he was then why Laurie? What was so special about Laurie the night he first started killing people? Theirs no tie in between him and her.
it's H40 what could you expect from it, kind of hoping at this point for season of the witch part 2
Oh I would love for that to happen
💯This movie spent most of the time explaining away the sequels. They should've kept H2, and H20 in continuity. Laurie's family felt too manufactured, and hollow.
I never wanted to see a sequel to H20 and I never will, because to make one you would have to fuck up that great ending like Resurrection did.
Personally really enjoyed this movie, actually liked the Loomis twist, enjoyed most of this movie tbh
I thought all the trailer cuts (closet, mannequin room, "so I could kill him") were better than the versions they actually used.
Me too actually
I agree Cody, it was good not great. It didnt blow me away like I was hoping. Alot was missing in this movie that I wanted to see. It didnt give me that simple but scary John Carpenter feel like the original.
We havent got it here in Australia yet and Ive watched Lee's review and now yours Cody. When you said you DIDNT like the ending I cringed.I still cant wait to see it but now Im nervous.Yikes! Great review Cody.
Great Review and Intro
4 the Fans Always remember Halloween 1978 Bombed with tons of negativity from critics. Then Film Critic Roger Ebert said it was Great like psycho and then word of Mouth went around and it Later Became a Classic. Everyone has different Taste and has a good eye for a good movie. So to the fans dont be discouraged Let your own 2 👀 eyes and ears Give you the final verdict. Be A Leader Not a follower.
Charles Bronson this needs to be the top comment on this video. People are really taking whatever opinions they see online as their own. I really loved the movie and it’s def in my top 2 with the original.
Great words man
Good facts, and advice.
I know you didn't like the ending, but did you stay for the mid-credit one? There are a lot of reviews I've seen/read where the reviewer didn't know there was one. That may change at least one aspect of your negative thoughts. Once again, I love your reviews, even though I don't agree with half of them. Your passion is there.
The breathing? Doesnt change my issue. I never believed for a second he was dead
Ditto, just wanted to make sure you saw it.
"There is a lot of very forced...almost cringe-worthy humor in this movie...that cuts like a lightsaber." Ah, haha! Nice "Last Jedi" jab. I've noticed that forced and inappropriate humor (not as in dirty humor, but as in inappropriately placed) seems to becoming an increasing problem with new movies across the board. Humor in the wrong places...like they'll insert a joke right in the middle of a super serious scene. What's up with that? And it's not like these movies need to be TOTALLY DEVOID of humor, like no humor ANYWHERE. For instance, I got a good laugh in the 1978 original when Loomis whispers to that one kid, "Hey! Lonnie, get your ass away from there!" and then just smiles as he runs off. I remember in Last Jedi, by the third act, I was already very frustrated with the movie, but when Luke and Leia met face-to-face (well, sort of, lol) for the first time since RotJ, and they see each other and Leia says, "I know what you're gonna say....I changed my hair." I ALMOST walked out of the theater right then and there - I was so fed up. Sorry for the Star Wars rant in a Halloween review, lol, but this new trend of forced humor and/or in bad places REALLY bugs me, and I hope it dies off quickly instead of continuing.
Interesting You are simultaneously the most predictable and unpredictable man I've ever seen. It's what keeps me coming back to your videos
Is that a compliment?
nope not at all more of a unique thing about you but i could see how it could be taken as a complaint
Man, thats TWO trusted sources ( Drewsky McGuillicuddy being the other) saying the exact same thing : " its frustrating!"
Im gonna see it tommorow afternoon at 12:20pm. I hope to god this hits something with me because ill probably just give up on being hyped ever again for a movie. (Too many let downs)
Drewsky and I talked. Hes a little harder on it than me but we agree on pretty much all our issues.
@@CodyLeachYT yeah he was pretty rough on it and was feeling um..under the weather we'll say in his review lol
Trusted Source???i guess their opinion is your decision
I low key miss the old school Cody leach music. Revisiting these reviews bro. Amazing stuff
I liked the movie-didn’t love it. Laurie Strode & Michael Myers were the best parts. I agree with a lot of your negatives Cody. I didn’t care about Judy Greer until the end. I liked the granddaughter but not the teen drama. I didn’t even get to process the new Loomis twist before it was over. And the tone should have been completely serious. Definitely took out some of the scare factor. But I appreciate they took Michael Myers seriously. I definitely needed more Jamie Lee Curtis!
I think the reason why people get defensive over a review that's not 100% positive is because it messes with their hype of this being anything less than an AMAZING movie, and that's perfectly valid. No one wants to hear otherwise. We all wanted to love this movie. But I would hate it if there were nothing but glowing reviews out there, that wouldn't be realistic.
I can understand the emotion but that doesn't justify people being pricks.
Yeah, I completely agree. It's one thing to disagree, but it's another thing ENTIRELY to be rude and childish. I saw the movie yesterday and I did agree with you on the atmosphere part. The script was there, but the execution was lacking, IMO. Still a solid sequel.
This movie was amazing! Did a great job at recapturing the vibe of the first Halloween! This is the definitive sequel and I love it 👏🏻 #YES
I'm excited to see this movie. It will be the first Halloween movie I would be able to see in the theater (I really wanted to see Halloween II in 2009, but my mom thought that the then-10-year-old me shouldn't see it). Regardless of whether or not a movie is great, there's something about the experience of seeing a new movie from a series that you loved when you were younger and weren't able to experience the previous movies in theaters that I always like.
aw man, it’s a disappointment?! oh well. still gonna see it :)
Edit: just saw it. it was great. yes, the ending was bad, and yeah a few characters were meh, but overall i really liked it and i recommend watching it.
Please do!
It's just one person's opinion. Definitely still see it
FunkyMunky 8 No, it isn’t.
It's not a let down
It's a great movie
I still can’t wait to see this tomorrow! Also, I highly enjoy all the reviews you’ve done for all of these movies. It’s been a real treat!
Hope you enjoy it
