the acting, the script and the directing were amazing in this version, so much better than any other version... the chemistry between Jemore and Glenn were very intense and believable
My goodness. Jesus Christ Superstar is a (lovingly) over the top crazy retelling of the last days of Jesus life. It’s meant to be fun and it’s meant to not be taken seriously, so yes, when she says “he looks like Jesus” she’s talking about the pop culture version of Jesus. My goodness.
John Doe well they don’t sing ether historically. So you can’t have some stuff historically accurate and then throw everything else out the window just to please a fringe group calling for the Bible be displayed historically accurate in a super stylized musical.
Mr. Marooned All I’m saying is that Gail Edwards’s statement indicates that she actually has no clue about biblical history. So hopefully she didn’t cast Glenn Carter under the presumption that he actually resembles the historical Jesus, because he doesn’t.
John Doe I don’t think she’s really ready any biblical history, period. This production was all over the place. Some parts are good, but others are just really bad. I don’t think the secular take adds too much to the story, and I think actually takes away a bit of conflict with the other characters. The play shouldn’t be about Jesus and making him human. It should be about everyone else around him and thinking he’s crazy.
Mr. Marooned Jerome Pradon had some good facial expressions and acting moments, but vocally he sounded terrible. Carter played Jesus like a prissy, the woman who played Mary was bland, Fred Johansson was over-dramatic and thus comical as Pilate, and so on. The only good part was the guy who played Annas-he was just awesome.
What he was saying at the end...I've wondered that before. For the actors playing Jesus. It must seem really weird to be doing that. Or at least it would to me
@@LuannOsbourne maybe today, considering there are jews all over the world since judaism has spread. But back then? Most people didn't travel very far back then, so it's likely that there wasn't much (if any) racial diversity of note when it came to jews.
Considering the whole thing is an over the top near satirical version of the last days of Jesus’ life, I think she’s talking about the mass media pop culture version of Jesus.
Mary Magdalen was not a whore , there is big mistake un the script , read the Bible carefully please . Anyway , this Jesús Christ is the best I have seen so far
The sacrifice was for the sins of the world. His free will to sacrifice an infinite and eternal sacrifice to breaks the bands of eternal death for humans. THAT is dramatic enough. He knew he was going to Jerusalem to die. Lots of gospel foreshadowing. Jesus was human in being mortal. He thirst, hungered, sleepy, sunburn, upset tummy, he bled and died. He said many times he could have had legions of angels to help immediately but he became mortal to understand and succor humans who had physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual needs and failings. But Jesus had no failings. He was sinless the gospel says. I understand you are not theologians nor Christians probably. You wanted a rock opera to express the hippy age. Jesus was just a vehicle for that. Too bad. The REAL drama was more profound. Submit your life to save more lives. Hero he was. A superstar in the literal sense. Still, nice beginner opera from Andrew and Tim. I literally grew up with this soundtrack. Made me want to learn the gospels for myself.
Shut her up please. I love the musical but i really prefer she didn't talk in the video. Andrew lloyd Webber is an amazing talent. All to you my lovely :)
No, not the best version... these are not rock singers... Broadway singers can not sing rock. Ian Gillan is a rock vocalist. Even Carl Anderson, in the film version, is a great, trained rock soul singer, great range...

My favorite version.. Love it

I still love the film. That has awakened my interest in the show. It doesn’t need to be “gritty” to move you.
1:58 Yes, he looks like Jesus in the Da Vinci painting, but you believe the historical Jesus actually had blue eyes and a blonde perm?

John Doe i agree with that. I like the more updated style too

The director lady says that this actor looks like Christ!! Jesus had blue eyes and blond hair? He was Jewish, in Israel, so I don't think so!!
I'm sure Blonde haired blue eyed Jews are a thing

BLUE EYES ??? JESUS ? OK... ANYWAY, WHENEVER YOU TALK ABOUT THE VOCALS OF THIS ROLE - PLEASE MENTION IAN GILLAN. THE GREATEST.
