This is an excellent, amazing and wonderful video of the trolleys of the past. It is fascinating to actually see the trolleys in motion and going places where they no longer go or where they don't exist anymore. It was so nice to see the loops, bridges, etc. where they actually ran. Whoever filmed the videos had a steady hand and the quality is great for that period in time and also that they were in color. It's hard to imagine where the photographers were standing so that they could do the filming. Some of the routes ran in neighborhoods near where I was living at the time and its nice to see where they started out and ended up. Most of them had been converted to bus by the time I passed or rode the routes. Nice seeing the PCCs running in some cases right along with the old trolleys.
I remember the trolley running in fox chase as a little kid. I have seen pictures of the route 6 in willow grove. This is my first video ever of seeing it actually run.
This video was very interesting love seeing how it used to be with the old trolleys. Although they could have left out the fake trolley sounds. Maybe because back then they did not have audio😢
Fun Fact: The PCC street cars still run on Girard Avenue, and will out live the K-cars that replaced them on the rest of the network. SEPTA's PCC IIIs had wheelchair lifts added when they were rebuilt into PCC IIs, so the non-ADA compliant K-cars will be replaced first.
The original subway trains of the Market Street subway in Philadelphia almost looks like the subway trains that were called Composites that were built from 1903, 1904 for the Interborough Rapid Transit Company in NYC. They were rebuilt for service on the 2nd, 3rd Avenue Els in 1916. 4 sets of these were used on the Brooklyn IRT El from 1920 til 1922 when new subway trains were delivered for full service on the Brooklyn extension from the tunnel until the terminal at New Lots Avenue. Those 4 sets were then sent to El train service between Manhattan and the Bronx. I am a New Yorker who grew up in NYC during the Mad Men era of the 1960s. 😊
It seems to me that in some places the video is sped up by about 1.5 times. For example, at 0:45, 4:55 or 13:50. Or is this an illusion? In most other places the speed is fine.

I enjoyed this video. I lived at Ridge and Midvale for 15 years. Nice to see how the area looked in 1955.

They called them motormen? PWG. P.S. I think the musical theme fits the era perfectly!
Yes, trolley cars are propelled by electric motors.
Do you have any more bowflex infomercial or commercials?
I’m not sure if I do. I post these things as I find them, and I still have countless tapes left to digitize. If I find any I’ll definitely post them
