This is a pretty solid little workbench. While once you figure out how it comes together, it is physically Easy to assemble ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh by yourself. But the diagrams explaining the steps are really pretty bad. I could not get the handle pins in all the way despite multiple attempts, so I just used a screw I had on hand for the 2nd handle. I could not get the first pin in further or pull it back out. You are supposed to hammer it in, but I had no leverage and the handle is plastic and I did not want to risk breaking it. I will get a lot of use out of the bench because of the convenient size and height. It does fold up nicely for storage. They even explain how to fold it so you don't get pinched...that is important!
I think it definitely still needs a stretcher across to keep lega from accidently sliding in. Just add a removable one that can be stored above easily.
I don't want one... I'd rather have the open space underneath.... not sure what you're doing on your workbench but it definitely sturdy enough for building and assembly
Yup, over time everything will loosen up a bit. Maybe even something on the back of the legs to still be out of the way. Sooner or later it will gain slop.
@@ModernBuilds If enough shear force is applied from either end, it could cause the opposite side to buckle for one thing. For example, if you applied enough force, say hand planing, to the left side (camera view), the right side might fold under under the right circumstances. You may not use that bench for hand planing, but one of your viewers might.
New to woodworking and was able to follow the instructions in the video the only 2 things I needed to figure out myself was the depth of the holes so my screws would not go through the 3/4 plywood top and the leg cross beams (they are 30" just like the other 3 used in the table) . Grabbed my wood from Home depo and it was so wet that water dripped out each time I used a screw..also. this is not a one day build..i did not give the legs time to dry and the wood glue dripped out..next time I know I need to let it actually dry first. Had a ton of fun and holy hell this thing is heavy..i hope its just the 100 gallons of water and it will dry and lighten up. Thanks for the video!
what a great little bench! can't wait for the building plans to be ready. I'm going to make this for my garage so I can retire my dog grooming table as my make do work bench...lol
Looks good! I notice many ppl asking for the plans. I wouldn’t mind paying for them but didn’t see anything on the website. I guess I’ll go thru the video and take notes.
I would definitely add a stretcher. Watch the right legs on the "wiggle test" at 5:35, they start creeping inwards. Seems worth it so the table doesn't come unexpectedly come crashing down in the middle of a project.
Great video! I thought about doing something like this myself but hanging it with a french cleat so the table top was facing outwards. Then putting a design on the table top so it looks like art when hung and a cool table top when it come off the wall.
@@dirkskep2458 Didn't have any. I saw a similar video and made it to fit me. I'm a 5'6'' woman and I made it to be comfortable for my height and space on the wall for storage. 3'W x6'L x 30"T My best tip is to Buy the casters 1st it will determine the leg height. Make it as long and wide as you want.
I kept asking myself why your shop furniture keeps disappearing after you build it and was going to type up a comment, but you answered my question at the very end of the video!
Better than a stretcher in my book... I want to figure out a way to get more torque by hand on the bolt and nut so that I don't need to use a wrench to get it super tight. :)
You could add a piece on the bottom of the table that swings at 90 degrees to the leg assembly and locks it in place. It could be folded underneath the stretcher of the legs
Hey Mike I have a question can you make a space saving device for a freezer Or some thing to put away a freezer so you never going to sit in a Garage With minimal space
That's what i'm looking for too. I want to build this and already bought the wood, but i'm trying to find out the exact measurements for everything from this video is difficult
@@shaunbarrios1979 8 Leg pieces are 32 inches (never mentions what size the stretcher is) Top frame is 2 71in pieces and 3 30in pieces. top plywood is cut to 35in by 73"
This bench is absolutely brilliant and just what I need i my small garage it’s fantastic and it will give so much work when not in use you are so clever I’m going to build one in the next few weeks your video is so well explained cheers buddy it’s awesome thank you Larrysullivan in london
Looks like dimensional 2x4, id think its probably better to size your own table to your space So looking at his design just making your own plans would probably work better
Bro! The editing makes it seem like you don't need a middle support, but it's clear that when you were jumping on it, the leg on the right was already folding in, but was edited out.
It doesn't look like it. I made one similar and actually attached it to the wall using a piano hinge. Can't move it around, but I also have needed to in the past 6 years.
I would add a rabbet to the 2x4 at the bottom so that the table can see there and you have an additional "locking point. That way, even you you accidentally knock it, it should not fall down.

The rounded corners for folding the legs.
Standing applause
Amazing work and I can't wait to build one as I have to update my current work bench
Thank you very much!! Go for it! :)
Awesome idea for a bed platform!!
Super neat idea! It would be cool to paint to bottom white so it blends in with your walls and give a clean look
Awesome. Hoping the plans coming soon are coming soon.

I dig it!
Thinking about doing this but swapping out the plywood top for butcher block to make a folding kitchen island!
This one is what I was looking for great space saving idea
I made one of those, put casters on it. Best work bench ever. Roll it outside in the sun. I have a removable stretcher on the bottom.
Where did you get the plans?

It looks good, Mike. It's going to be fun watching you complete the shop furniture for your new space. Thanks for this video.
That would be awesome for a tiny house, or as a spare bed platform. ( Larger of course)🤩
The output was nice great job mike
Love it. I'm going to fold a 4 foot bench, at 32 inch height. I'll have to offset the Jeff's though.
Bravo! Plain, simple and useful!
Thanks a ton!
Thanks for the tutorial. I’m going to make this.
When will the plans be available?
Awesome job. I'm going to build one of these straight from your video

Thank you for sharing all these ideas!!
superb.. koltauwa...fantastic...
Hey there it's a great job! Did you ever come up with the free plans for this?
This is exactly what I need. Any update on when the plans will be available?
Love it! Posting plans soon?
Great build ! Do you have the measurements/plans for this already?
He never delivered, 1+ year after….
When do you plan to share the blueprints for this?
Great idea. Thank you for showing the details of the build.
Love this!! Are the plans available for this??
Coming soon 😢
Add a magnet onto the bottom of the work surface to hold you open ended wrench for leg bolts if you want it to really take 20 seconds
Brilliant design !
Hi Mike any chance of the plans coming?
Great video, but where are the plans? It says coming soon for the plans.
I just seen your video and I'm wondering if you released the plans for this yet this bench would work great for me.
Good idea. I think I can do the same with a manufactured folding PVC table
Hi I am the first view of video and also like it
exactly what i am looking for
Love it! Only 1 question. Where it sits on the bottom does he have a lip or it sits flush? If flush can't it come off of pulled from the bottom?
You could add a piece on the bottom of the table that swings at 90 degrees to the leg assembly and locks it in place. It could be folded underneath the stretcher of the legs
Nice I think the guys that did it with lockable coasters and a removable stringer make it a bit more practice. But a good video! And a nice table
link?
This. Was. So. Good.
Excellent. Did you ever publish your free plans as noted?

Are their plans and a cut list
Plans? Where can I find them? Thanks
Any suggestions on how to modify if I want a smaller table? I’m looking to make a 4ft one but then my 3ft legs would hit each other when folding up.
Where's the link for materials at?
Please, How can you prevent the table to wobble without some diagonal Pieces?
How long is the stretcher piece? Same as the other eight pieces?
Do you have the plans? I would love to build this!
Great build ! Now I want to make one ! But did you post the plans anywhere? I don't see them in the description.
yes bro we need plans init
I wonder if I could use that cleat at the back of it to hold it stable enough to plane wood on it - this is definitely going on the list!

No, it's not attached to the wall, just stored there so he can move it around.
Can someone explain please what the pilot holes are for?
Great. Do you have the free plans? Thanks
Where do I find the plans?

Couldn’t add some sort of knob or handle to quickly loosen and tighten the legs?

no concerns abt the legs bending inwards?
