- Snap in case back, screw in case back, got a watch case back you don't know how to open? This is the one video for you! In this video, we'll detail how to open all types of standard watch case backs on the market today, including snap in case back, screw in case back, and case back with screws, and also how to properly close these case backs with proper tools, like a watch press.
After going through this guide, you'll know how to open every watch on the market, from your basic quartz watch to your dive watch (even Rolex if you're rich)
If you have a special case back you can't open, let me know in the comments below and I'll make sure to make a guide on it in the near future!
P.S. Just a heads up, you won't see any live footage on Rolex because I'm too poor to afford an actual Rolex. If any of you are generous (and wealthy) enough to lend out a Rolex my way I'd be more than glad to produce a detailed guide on it wink wink

Happy watchmaking! - Навчання та стиль
this man is single handedly saving the resale value of tens of thousands of watches across the globe. 👏👏
Where have you been all my life? I’ve been scratching back covers with the three point opener for years!!! 😮 i never used this method of rotating the watch instead of the tool. I always pressed the tool on top of the watch on my desk with some cushion and rotated the tool, and that is a 50/50 chance to slip and scratch. Thank you!
just watched half a dozen videos about case removal and this was the best
My experience: I was at the airport waiting for my plane, dressed up to go to a wedding and was playing around with my nomos glasshutte. When the boarding call came through the speaker I managed to drop the damn thing on the floor and the caseback just rolled away. I picked it up and got to my plane. It was a 2.5 hour flight but I spent the entire time trying to get it's back, back on. It had a gasket which caused a lot of grief but I just couldnt get it on. Was thinking maybe cabin pressure or something was at play. Eventually we landed and I rushed to a local watchmaker, he brought out that contraption, which I know now is the watch press. seemed to do the trick. However I noticed he didn't align the logo at the back which I new would annoy me forever so I made him do it again. I handed him the money and was on my way to the wedding ceremony. 10 minutes later, not fiddling with it or anything, just sitting quietly the damn back just popped off it again. To this day, I have never bothered to put it back on
How to use the case opener tool properly is an unvaluable tip! Thanks.
Thank you! We get asked about case opening so much that we decided to make a guide on it. Hope it helps!
Hugely helpful video and very clear instructions - thank you very much
Excellent, precise!
Thank you for all the comprehensive information you provided - very clear and helpful. Maybe the companies who sell watches should do your job!
This is a good quality instructional video. I've got to get one of those friction balls!
You'll love it
Thank you so much
Tqvm bro...
My snapping case back has no notch...?
Mine don't either.
Legant qs same
Ty a lot!
Thank you! 👍 Now I knew how to open my watch ⌚ to change battery.

Thanks😊
This channel provide the best tutorial vids👏🏻, please do "how to change watch crystal"
I hear you👍
At first glance, I thought my watch back had no notch. But after watching this I had a closer look and it does, but it's virtually microscopic. If it hadn't been for this video I'd have given up. Thank you!
It's made me wonder if mine has a notch. I had to use a stanley blade the other day. Mine is more square . Will deffo look though!
I can not figure out my watch how to open. It looks like it is pop off style but there isn't any notch to pray against. It is Concord watch BTW. Perhaps someone can advise me ?
Help 😊
Really helpful
Glad it helped!
4:00 Thank you!
Finally said F it hammer and flat screwdriver and it worked
Sorry but I have a watch here that does NOT have any 'lip' to prize it open. It is completely smooth all the way round the rim! (any suggestions would be helpful!)
Look closer maybe? I came to write the same comment but on extremely close re-inspection I found that it *did* have a lip around the back, but it's measured in tenths of a millimetre, I'd already written it off as not having one.
@@matthewgaunt4358 Well, I looked and looked and for the life of me I could'nt see anything. I ended up getting some1 to open it for me and install a new battery.
What is the name of the tool that pries the snap back style open? 0:53
Thanks for your video! Its easy to understand it Could you upload how to Ic/coil test for quartz watch ?
Thank you! Sure quartz test is a good topic to cover, I'll work on it!

With the 2 pin slackner is there good and bad quality and if so what is a good quality one , only ones have seen are on the E Bay and
look cheap and nasty
How do I open this stubborn one? I have tried everything, including pushing a small-head screwdriver using a watch repair kit hammer. Nothing working!
PLEASE SOME HELP.
How do I realign it so that etching is perfect. For instance, one of my watches is engraved with "boss", and I want this to align perfectly vertically with the watch crown.
Everytime I try it ends up off vertical alignment.
i have a Dreyfuss & Co
Model number DGS00163/02 series 1925 but no signs of how to open it any help would be great
I am not familiar with this watch, but from the google images I saw, it looks like a screw on caseback without notches (you'll use a friction ball to open this). But this is at best a guess. Hope this helps
i have a case with a rolex style caseback and its absolutely stuck.. any advice?
just buy some adapters or go to a watchmaker...maybe the ball trick would work, try it out.
how about tag heuer monza 36calibre ?
I don't have the watch on hand, but from what I gathered from google image, it looks like a case back with screws. So the case back removal should be pretty straightforward
I never buy a watch without screw back, all waterproof watches - 10Atm + have screw backs. (or case back with screws, as Casio)
Any watch! NOPE! The watch i have has no notch I bought a fancy kit and not one tool in it works
Use a thin razor blade or stanley blade.
Thanks MrRawUK, the Stanley blade worked a treat for me (I thought I was going to end up with a horrific hand wound, but luckily I didn’t). Thanks again
@@RUFIGEKRU I was the same and did mine the same day. Mine was a cheap £60 watch but it was a gift. Plenty of marks on the back from so called pro's who changed it before :)
My watches backs dont look like any of these
*How to inflate the ball?*
The ball should come inflated. If not, a normal hand pump, like the one you use to inflate a basketball, will do the work
Omega Seamaster one piece case? No back.
(Well, you did label it “How to open ANY watch”)
No one shows how to open a Roly!
A miserable process if the tool for opening does not fit the watch back. A completely un standardized industry just as garment sizing. All frustrating
watchmaker at tissot authorized service should watch this
he dig up large amount of metal from my case, heavily scratched the cap, even bracelet masking element was damaged - want something done well? Do it yourself.
you just add that there exists garbage caps without any specific placed notch (most difficult to open and close abominations)
Big oof. Yes those case backs without notch exist and we hate them
