  • You do not need special tools ( could scratch ), just a simple Normal duct tape and chopstick to hold on and turn. It maybe use to open bottles' lid etc. Maybe you can use other tape that you have at home. Won't work on smaller watches because the surface area of the back. Also note, if you do send your watch for servicing, inform the shop keeper not to over tighten the back lid ( most of them do ). This causes the rubber to deform and also, the moving parts (for kinetic or automatic ) might hit the cover's inside.

Does this work I’ll say it does!!!! 😃. I was having a real problem with the back of a watch and I didn’t know if it was a clip off or a screw thread. Well, it doesn’t seem to matter, I didn’t have a chop stick but instead used a small modellers file wrapped in a bit of masking tape to protect the back plate from scratches. The back turned within a second or so and it was a screw thread. To replace the back I stuck the duck tape lightly on to the back plate and it was done in seconds. Well done for this 😃😃

You used your initiative, that is what DIY about. Alternatively, i have another video, using stick glue, must easier and reusable. These method, may not be suitable for see thru back, thanks.

Duck Tape works fine just ball it up like a small base ball size (smaller than a small base ball but not to small, small enough to cover the whole back and big enough to grip) stick it on the back press and turn, make sure it sticks good or else it wont work

I did add some WD40, but i doubt it made any different. This watch back do not have any notches, and i do not want to spend money buying the special tool just for the sake of this one watch. I got the idea from a guy who used double sided duck tape and a glass, so Duck tape does work. Thanks for watching my video

Hi, i have just uploaded another video that i think might work for you. Glue Stick. After reading your feedback, i am thinking of a better way, It is true that turning the chop stick needs quite a skil. All the best trying.

This only works in cheap watches or a watch that the lid is not tight. If you manage to open a high end watch good for you, now you will not be able to close it tight and that becomes a problem.

For a Screw Back Watch try a good sized blob of “blue tac” on the back of watch and turn slowly, worked for me, also no need for sellotape as placing watch face down on a soft towel will protect the face.

remember that some of the homages and fakes with this RLX type of caseback are actually snap-on casebacks. First inspect the edge using a lupe. If there is a tiny lip near the lugs get a knife and lift it up from under there... you may need a case press to c!ose it again, but some close easily too.

This trick will work ONLY if the back case cover is NOT properly, securely and tightly screwed onto the case.
It will NOT work on a Rolex which needs a special opening tool.
If you have a waterproof Rolex, like the Submariner, test this method here and then share your results.
I bet that you will not be able to remove the Rolex back cover.

    • @sanikam6079
      @sanikam6079  10 місяців тому

Hi John, you are smart, i admit, this method is a bit tricky, one have to transfer or focus all the Qi energy onto the point of contact, which is the back case and turn it.
This Tudor blackshield, the back cover is similar to Rolex.
I also have another video (better method) in which i use a stick glue (reuseable) to open it, basically melt some glue on the solid back, use a flat piece wood or something to grip.
Most of my DIY are using cheap daily items, once you master this method, you can help friends to change battery at 1/3 the price shops are charging..
If you can afford Real Rolex $$$$, you can afford to send to the shop.

If you own watches, do yourselves a favor and by a watch repair kit. They go for about $30 on line. They're not professional grade but will do the trick for basic watch maintenance. They come with all the tools needed to properly and safely open and close varying case backs (screw on/snap on).
These kits sure beat duct tape, chop sticks, Bisquick, ball bearings or any other "tricks/hacks".
Proper tools make all the difference. ✌🏽

Second hand not moving.... i use neodyme magnet, placed at the back with paper to prevent scratch. It moved.... that was 2 weeks ago.
