    Knock those slots out of the rod locker. You can fit way more stuff in it. Be sure to use ring free. Yamalube or Amsoil for your oils with that yamaha

    Biggest thing I would say is take care of your boat and it will take care of you. Keep up with the maintenance or it will catch up to you on the water or right when you're about to go out. This is especially true with a 2-stroke. I would replace the impeller and gear oil. Also I would replace trailer bearings and try to do that atleast every season or so. I also like to wipe mine down after every trip with hot sauce. It's a nice boat man! Don't forget to insure it!

    • @TeejStone
      @TeejStone  2 роки тому +1

      Oh I insured it before we put it in the first time! I got some bass boat saver and plan to wipe it down every time also, like the guys in my club do! Gonna ask them more about general upkeep to be sure I’m on top of it! Thanks for the recommendations!

      @@TeejStone not too bad. i did not cut the back of the transom off. i cut the 2" wide top off (45min), dug out the wet but not rotten wood (20hrs) cleaned everything with acetone and used "carbon core" ($557 for 2gal to my door). the material was the most pourable i seen on youtube. used the paint tray method to control the pour. sealed the top with gelcoat and reinstalled the motor. i have about 40hrs total time and probably $1500 in materials. i did not keep the receipts--did not want to know the total :)

    Just replaced the live well timer on my 2000 Triton TR-21, easy fix and for less than $50.00.
    Also, I have a Yamaha VMax 225, OX-66 and unfortunately I just replaced the power head. My mechanic highly suggested that I run Mercury Premium Plus semi-synthetic oil instead of Yamalube. The Mercury oil is a lot cleaner oil as Yamalube has a high ash content. He even went as far as removing my oil reservoir and cleaning the sludge out of the bottom.
