Great video as always. When you mentioned the trade off between the easier recipe and the slightly better taste of the other, it made me wonder what are the recipes that you make over and over from your channel? I think that would be a fun video.
Great video. I just recently tried both of these, and i found them both to be too runny for it to be Nutella - like. It tasted great, but It was too watery to put on to bread or toast for my liking. So, I amended the recipes slightly, I kept everything same, but added some shea butter and almond flour, and I let the liquidizer run for about 5 minutes to smooth it out, and it came out perfect! It sets nicely to the right thickness, it stays the same texture as regular Nutella even at room temp,, its spreadable, and the shea butter adds an extra dimension of nuttyness and chocolateyness to it. For these quantities I put a quarter cup of shea butter, melted, and a third of a cup of almond flour. Your results may vary but just adjust the amounts slightly if it comes out too runny or too thick.
I’ve made Martina’s recipe then made it with just hazelnuts instead of the nut blend. I prefer it with just hazelnuts because I really like the hazelnut flavor. I think the cocoa plus chocolate bar gives a deeper flavor. It makes a decadant hot cocoa.
That’s what I was thinking…make the one with the chocolate bar and cocoa with all hazelnuts. I’m not a big fan of macadamia nuts. They always taste stale to me.
That's what I was thinking about doing too. If I'm trying to make a Nutella clone I want to be all in on hazelnuts and it isn't like macadamia is a cheaper alternative or anything. I do love macadamia nuts when I can get them from Aldi but they aren't always available.

Hi Wes thanks for another awesome video! I have been making and selling quite abit of keto Nutella and have found that the addition of a chocolate bar not only helps with the taste but also the texture! It really helps it thicken up like regular Nutella. It usually takes a day or so on the counter to set properly and also always remember to mix really well as the natural oils will rise to the top. Can't wait for your next video!

I use Carolyn’s (All Day I Dream About Food) version - very similar to one you used. It’s amazing and she has recipes that it’s an ingredient of. I love hazelnuts! All my years Keto, I’ve never felt the need to use a meter. I pretty much know what kicks me out of ketosis and that Keto bread for sure does lol. A piece of toast is a great occasional treat though!

It is maddening that you sometimes don't know something is a trigger food until you innocently bring it into the house. I did that last week with a keto snack mix they sell at BJ's Wholesale Club. The big bag was such a better deal than the individually portioned packs. Honestly, this hit me so hard that I might have even ripped through all the bags in one afternoon. It was a nice variety of nuts along with BJ's own brand of Whisps. I swear, I was crazed and could not sleep until I had finished the whole thing. It is my first total blow out I've had since starting Keto 6 months ago! Be gone Keto Snack Mix!

Definitely have to try this. I find Nutella a dangerously addictive thing. Never tried it, ever, until just a few yrs ago (and I’m 58! lol). My husband brought some home. 2 containers later, I bought more - out of guilt - so he’d actually get to have some (No comment on the success of that particular mission 🙄🎶). So THEN, I actually bought a metal lock box and ‘insisted’ he keep it in there. I don’t make good decisions around chocolate, late at night. He kept saying it seemed wrong, like he was a ‘controlling husband,’ even though it was me pleading with him. I can’t wait to try these and thank you so much for this video. ❤

I looooove Nutella🤤 I wonder if using Hershey Special dark cocoa powder would works well? I make my keto brownies with the Special dark and they are awesome
I use the unsweetened Ghirardelli (sp?) 100% and it is so delicious! I wish I could figure out a way to avoid the inevitable puff of cocoa that ends up all over the counter when I use it. But It really is worth the clean up. I mix it with a vanilla 2 carb yogurt, a tablespoon of confectioner's Swerve, a tablespoon of the cocoa powder, mix, mix, mix, and then swirl some almond butter through. Boy, is this delicious!

But I will try a half a batch with just Stevia drops/powder as my sweetener. I may have to adjust for the bulk of the Erythritol. I will check the website of the developer. It is almost impossible in my experience and from watching other people to get truly smooth nut butter without straining or specialty professional equipment unless you hand stone grind and have a ton of patience. However you can buy smooth hazel nut butter with no additives, it is expensive. But if you love the smooth texture and just crave that Keto Nuttella buying the smooth hazelnut spread and mixing in your sweeteners and cocoa/chocolate might be an easier way.
Thanks Wes, i might give this a try... Pre low carb I used to make fake Nutella with macadamia nut butter, honey, and cocoa powder. Just mix it up in the jar. My blender could never get it smooth enough either. I'm curious about how blooming the cocoa in the coconut oil would go before adding it to the mix to give it a chocolate boom.

For my bread I've been using Artisan Bakers Multi Seed which I got from Costco. I think the ingredients for Keto may be sketchy, but I'm still on the fence on Keto vs low carb.

I would love to see you (or someone!) do a taste test of these alongside a couple of the commercially-available keto nut spreads like ChocZero and Pyure.
I have found that keto breads esp if they have wheat anything take me out of ketosis despite the carb count. My inflammation returns and fingers swell.
I bet if you used organic dark chocolate cocoa powder (maybe increased it a small amount) you could bypass the chocolate bar. At the very least find a middle ground. I like simple.
Preferably one that actually uses a baking soda dip! I found one out there, but haven't tried it yet. I keep meaning to. Maybe there's one that uses that keto police banned substance, vital wheat gluten! LOL

Now you got me curious about that Keto bread :D There are quite a few of them out there now, and they all seem to provide at least a soft spike (30 pts) in most. I really need to test mine (I'm a mostly reversed type 2)
@@Pondy-sama everybody has their own physiological reactions. You don't have to dump it just because it affects someone else. That's the point of getting your own meter and testing after eating foods that could spike you. It could also matter how MUCH it affects you. We eat lots of stuff that would kick us out of ketosis, if we eat it in quantity, but it's just fine in moderation.

I love Nutella, however i can't trust myself not to eat the whole batch in one sitting. even the Keto version.

But I will try a half a batch with just Stevia drops/powder as my sweetener. I may have to adjust for the bulk of the Erythritol. I will check the website of the developer. Maybe somebody else has tried it?

It is almost impossible in my experience and from watching other people to get truly smooth nut butter without straining or specialty professional equipment unless you hand stone grind and have a ton of patience. However you can buy smooth hazel nut butter with no additives, it is expensive. But if you love the smooth texture and just crave that Keto Nuttella buying the smooth hazelnut spread and mixing in your sweeteners and cocoa/chocolate might be an easier way.

Thanks Wes, i might give this a try... Pre low carb I used to make fake Nutella with macadamia nut butter, honey, and cocoa powder. Just mix it up in the jar. My blender could never get it smooth enough either.
I'm curious about how blooming the cocoa in the coconut oil would go before adding it to the mix to give it a chocolate boom.

For my bread I've been using Artisan Bakers Multi Seed which I got from Costco. I think the ingredients for Keto may be sketchy, but I'm still on the fence on Keto vs low carb.

Nope, it actually comes from the hazelnuts. A "home" food processor is not powerful enough to grind it down to pure butter, unfortunately.

Allulose isn't available in Australia (or a lot of other places) hence FatForWeightLoss's use of erythritol.
I would love to see you (or someone!) do a taste test of these alongside a couple of the commercially-available keto nut spreads like ChocZero and Pyure.
I've made one of those recipes and I can tell you the hazelnut flavor is stronger than in Pyure and Suntella (which was a big disappointment to me)

I have found that keto breads esp if they have wheat anything take me out of ketosis despite the carb count. My inflammation returns and fingers swell.

Choczero has a pretty good " Nutella" in white and dark chocolate version

I bet if you used organic dark chocolate cocoa powder (maybe increased it a small amount) you could bypass the chocolate bar. At the very least find a middle ground. I like simple.

Looks kinda watery (loose) compared to the original version. I wonder I'd adding something like xanthan gum or another thickener would help?

Tip: if you want to remove the skin from almonds.
Soak them; skin will come right off. then dry them and roast them.
So, if you were making Nutella would you add chocolate to the first recipe for purity of the hazelnut ♥️ flavor OR use the second recipe and just use hazelnuts?

There are quite a few of them out there now, and they all seem to provide at least a soft spike (30 pts) in most. I really need to test mine (I'm a mostly reversed type 2)

I really hope it's not the Franz. I've done a lot of stuff with it and it really keeps me from going to normal bread.
@@Pondy-sama everybody has their own physiological reactions. You don't have to dump it just because it affects someone else. That's the point of getting your own meter and testing after eating foods that could spike you. It could also matter how MUCH it affects you. We eat lots of stuff that would kick us out of ketosis, if we eat it in quantity, but it's just fine in moderation.
