ribaldequins are actually hurting elephants a lot - they definitely counter them. as i tried elephants, that was pretty much one of the few things that scared me. janissaries are also scary, but way less than rebaldequins. maybe he should have built streltsy from the merc camp to counter the elephants. the problem i see: not every civ has access to ribaldequins, which is a real problem and they are way too easy to counter with ranged units.
im a noob in Aoe4 so dont know if im just not seeing something, but even as a not Delhi player Ribaldequins feel insanly strong nowadays. (Tho i played against french with their special Ribaldequins, i think it was royal Ribaldequins) So im equaly feared of thies Siege as of Elephants, while most of the other Siege as well as Canons feel like a joke. Tho didnt know Ribaldequins are countered by Range, so maybe this was the reason they felt so super strong, i tried them to take out with Knights and Horseman. Is it just my lack of knowledge that Ribaldequins feel so much better than other Siege? While Canons are just... good to take down keeps and losing to Elephants? ;)
Cannons were looking very disappointing in these fights. For how big, slow, expensive, and visually impressive they are, they were functioning like pea shooters with paper armor. This made me think; could we make cannons apply some stun or slow on-hit? Maybe a damage-increase like cataphract trample? Armor-destruction, like Aoe2's Obuch? I'm hardly a realism nerd, but it just feels wrong to see elephants walk, unbothered, through cannon volleys that would flatten a castle. Cannons make intuitive sense as an "anti-big-stuff" unit, and I'd love to see the devs explore that niche a little further than just tweaking the Damage/HP numbers.
For a moment I was worried that Beasty's gonna win this one too. Thanks for not disappointing me, Farm Man. Love your vids. Beasty is my favorite player and its so refreshing to see him lose sometimes. Proves that he is only human.
Everyone is talking about the elephants, but I think what really won May the game was the Raids. He got so many villagers. In the late game, Delhi had 3 sites and 4 relics; they just had too much gold.
In theory, siege rework was awesome, in practice it sux. Siege is nice vs buildings but those vs units not really. Springalds are paper and low dmg even vs units they should counter. Mangonels are outraged and outdamaged by archers which also should be countered by mangonels. Even a little micro with archers is enough for 1-2 shots of mangonels, which is super funny. I saw many games where players with 8 mangonels couldn't kill a group of microing archers because 1-2 waves of arrows were enough to kill a mangonel. Imo mangonels should be almost immune to ranged damage because now ranged units just rush on mangonels to one-shot them xD. In theory horsemen should counter siege but in practice archers do it better because don't even move too close. Cannons should do way more damage than elephants or single-dmg units, maybe with a small AOE damage as well.
Comment to ALL AOE IV content creators: Love seeing all the videos and strategies covered, but it would be awesome to get some variety! Maybe highlight different civs other than Delhi and Aba (varients included) to keep things fresh and exciting. The focus on just two civs is starting to feel a bit repetitive.
I do enjoy this patch twice as much as any other. The siege changes are a net positive it just needs some dialing in before the next big DLC player bump
@@Soudrah Im not liking the siege change, because you still need siege to counter siege, and archer masses are now rampant. Mangonels should be stronger agaisnt archers and they are mainly used to counter siege in castle. Cavalry should be more resilient agaisnt archers. Also we have no siege that can deal with ships now until imperial.
@dali1384 you will use the janas as hit and run. Lancers will flank and attack the archers targeting the janas from the side. I guess if beasty had a different civ like rus couldve been different.
I think it's that nothing deals good damage to the elephants anymore except for melee, with the recent siege nerfs. I think maybe elephants should get another unit type to open them up to. . . Something? Course siege just sucks now so I don't know what.
I think this was the game Beasty was referencing in his emergency tier list
Enjoying the casts mate, keep up the good work!

What a fascinating game indeed. They play so freaking well.

Yep - flat bonus damage vs Elephants if nothing else IMO!
Nice ideas, armour destruction like aoe2s Obuch is pretty cool
New season is here, excited for it!

Wow that is definitely the coolest skirmish I have ever seen in aoe4.
🙌🏻
I really think elephants should take extra damage from siege and take +1 extra pop space or even a little costy .

devs announced today that they are increasing bombards damage against elephants
that is still bullshit, because there is no counter to elephants in castle. i think springalds should get insane anti elephant or cav in general buff.
i agree
Why did the devs broke the game after it did so well....

Mass janissaries and lancers. Maybe ottomans can do it.
lancers will get destroyed and they cost a ton... jans are okish but still take a lot of time. no chance to sustain that comp without massive trade

gutted by the result

Why didn't he make handcanoners
Serpentine handcannons are only cpunter to elephants rn but beasty may have just been autopiloting early into patch
