Thanks for making these, we just finished our SI NOBO journey and your videos were so helpful, and it was cool trying to find your names in the intention books at the huts 😅
@@QuadzillaHikes we did a side trip to Mt Arthur before finishing up the QCT, it was beautiful, but we didn't stay at mistletoe Bay so we missed the bioluminescent waters 🥲, we saw your notes in far-out tho haha, but we got to see the glow worms which were so cool! We have 2 weeks left in NZ after we finished so we're just hitting up some spots on the west coast like fox glacier and the copland track which was amazing with the outdoor hotpools and minimal sandflies. Are you still in NZ? Any plans for next thruhike? - Dan from Canada
@@pringerx hotpools and no sand flys, sounds like heaven. Nope we left NZ, not too sure what's next yet but more adventures this year. Enjoy your 2 weeks left in NZ!
They worked fine, after wearing them I feel like they're just any other trail runner really, they've had this little buzz around the trail for a bit everyone's talking about Topos, I would say they're interchangeable with Altras, just get whatever is cheaper!
Ha! So funny about the bird giving you a peck. Lots of birds on your journey. Also I am getting meal ideas from you guys ( I start in July SOBO on the AT). Thank you!
It isn't every day you get pecked on the butt by a bird while you're pooping. Oh those sandflies remind me of the blackflies we had to contend with when we were hiking in Labrador. They follow you everywhere and you have to dive into your tent and then kill those that come inside with you. You had a nice spot to sit and wait out the weather. :)
Thanks for all the videos of the daily experience. I'm curious, are you editing these videos on your phone with the camera footage at appropriate times off?
This latest one I'm editing on my computer because we finished the south island, but all the previous NZ vblogs have been editing on my phone using inshot on Samsung S21. I pull over files from camera SD card using a little adapter that I can plug into my phone.
I bet that bird doesn't peck anyone else in that part of the anatomy again.
LOL! Bird 😂 Mental note: look around for curious ground dwelling birds before pooping 😂
Lol they're sneaky!

Oh that's awesome! How was the end there for you? Did you get to see bioluminescence at Mistletoe Bay?

@@QuadzillaHikes it definitely felt like heaven, especially while gazing at the starry night 🤩. Enjoy the rest of your year, hope to meet you one day!
Thanks for taking us along your journey Jack! How did the Topos treat you vs the Altra Olympuses?

The 1kg everyday cheese is the way for me 😂. Might taste mediocre but 4.000 kcal and 247g of Protein for 10$ is too convenient. ❤
And less bathroom breaks, too :P
Thanks Jack 👊🏻👍🏻 God Bless 🙏🏻 Appreciate you my friend 🫶🏻
Thanks for watching and appreciate your comments.

Excited for ya!

Haha it must be good luck :) What do you think, mosquitoes or blackflies? We went round and round on that question but decided blackflies were worse.
Where’s the rest of the crew?
They're in the later part of the video :)

@@QuadzillaHikes Awesome, big effort with such a small screen! But I suppose the tools and phones are a lot more capable these days. Thanks.
Oh, I just got to the spot where you show your editing haha. Doh. 😂
Lol!
watch the biblical giant tree videos mannn 🙆
Hah I just saw a post yesterday about how devil's tower is a giant petrified tree. Doesn't match the science but it was a fun idea to think about.
@@QuadzillaHikes haha okay ! 😎 Yea man you're right just trust the science 😂🫢
