They screen NT plays in cinemas in some countries. He absolutely was amazing in Vanya, complete wizardry. I think he made history, and this has nothing to do with wins, nominations, or box office. Although it is great to see he is getting the recognition he deserves.:-)

I locked eyes with Andrew a few years ago in the Hospital Club. He sat alone on a leather sofa (his friend had gone to the bathroom - I assume) and I cannot explain the regret I have for not heading over and just having some random small talk. *sigh*
I read the Cherry Orchard at school, but have never read any other Russian literature. The closest I’ve been to Uncle Vanya is in Terry Pratchett’s Fifth Elephant, which includes one of the three sisters suggesting to Vimes that she could give him ‘the gloomy and purposeless trousers of Uncle Vanya’. This sounds good though!
The problem with Andrew Scott performing in a musical is that he would want to play all the parts in the show like in his ego-fest Vanya while conducting the orchestra.
