Well they technically both have it, it just looks nicer in P4, since it has the scan lines and the coloring around the screen. In P4G it only has the scan lines and they are harder to see.
Persona 4 PS2 graphically looks better in terms of 3d elements, and this is made clearer with emulation. however Persona 4 Golden on PC has the better 2d Assets but they look like redrawn assets, the clearest giveaway of this is the quality of them, and even the textures were altered between the 2, Persona 4 Golden for some reason altered the atmosphere created by the PS2 original, yes everything seen in the PC version is basically what you'll get from the Vita version graphically (except for resolution which is 476p)
i do get what u mean, you can also see that elements on the ps2 backgrounds were "alive" and some went static or completely missing in Golden but i also like the removal of the yellow or blue tints, making everything clear both in exploration and battles, but they did keep the static effects even if sort of reduced and did improve lots of assets, background elements and textures in a good way
@@designRpt well I prefer the original PS2 look, that's the look they went for, and considering the foggy nature of the TV world the PS2 version properly captures this, the reasons for toning the effects down was most likely screen size, since at the Time the screens of 23 inches and up to 52 inches were expected for use on the game (Yes 52 Inch TVs were a thing in 2008) and the Vita (original model) was equipped with a 5 inch OLED display, there are definitely changes that show they were avoiding burn in, such as with the first dungeon, where the fog was white in the PS2 version, but changed to black in Golden. so yes Golden Did many alterations out of Necessity for the Vita, however these changes are completely pointless for the PC and PSTV/PS-Vita TV and were kept as a result of ATLUS not wanting to once again re-work Persona 4 in order to undo the graphical alterations they did to make it better for the Vita's screen as well as adjusting the new Golden exclusive areas to match the PS2 graphical style, (probably just the new golden exclusive dungeon, considering Okina city actually has a map in the PS2 version). so yeah the only reasons for a lot of the graphical alterations was just to accommodate for the Vita's screen and hardware
@@WednesdayMan i still think for PC, give the more powerful platform its being launched on, it should have gotten an option for using both the fullscreen effects of the Original or the more clean look of the Golden version
Honestly, the look and feel of the original is better to me. I also just nit pick a lot, and I hate the changes to lots of little things. From battle party portraits being outside the "tv area" on screen, battle portraits changed, additional orange color added to a lot of stuff, shuffle time got a massive overhaul and is nowhere near the same or as challenging. The game feels easier on very hard than it did hard for ps2. Elemental icons adjusted to have that square around them, dia/ media sound differences, and I can keep goin all day. I hate when so much stuff that didnt even need to be touched, was touched.
Shuffle time is much more fun in golden though. Yes, golden is easier, but is much more fun, which is, at the end of the day, what we play games for. Agree with the feel though. Golden looks too saturated, even when you tone it down in the settings, and and I don't like the removal of fog.
@@insertnamehere658 some people may have more fun if it's more challenging though. Im not one of those people, but op might be and it's important to remember that
I'm 2 years late to this but people preferring the original over Golden is *insane* to me, I think they're both fine, but Golden just looks so much better lmao
Well yeah, but it's a game about fog and a TV world, not about high quality image and the handheld dimmension. People probably like vanilla P4 better because of immersion.
Actually most of those additional contents are good and they improve the player interaction. Like the fact that in Golden version you can walk around the shopping district when Dojima goes to the gas station in the beginning of the game, and there you can see and talk to some important characters (Like Saki and her brother). This way, the game universe becomes more "alive" and it introduces some info/characters. Obviously a few contents aren't necessary, but i believe most of them are important and/or cool.

@@conorrynne9694 unfortunately I only have my smartphone but aethersx2 is a great way to play persona 3 and persona 4. I like how the original actually had that late 90s to early 2000s Tv effect thing( i can't remember what its callled and i'm too lazy to look it up)
static?

The extra fog really sets a darker mood in the PS2 version

I actually prefer the moodier look of the PS2 original.
More fog, and a more sickly yellow palette. P4 was never as sunshine-and-rainbows as post-Golden marketing would have you believe.
@@JayAreAitch Very True
I love the fog and yellow atmosphere on ps2
It's looks less foggy but the game is "about fog" I prefer the ps2 graphics
2:58 Ah the mc's voice in Persona 3 or just Sasuke's and Ben 10's voice actor. I love him. Also love teen Gwen and Terra's voice actor
also spider man lol
The tv display when fighting is better

No to mention: the font for HP/SP counter numbers in battle have been changed and they look so tacky and rushed...
how did atlus make the anime cutscenes worse in the golden version
