Many condolences.. Before rebuilding, Maui homeowners could learn from the 1993 Laguna Beach fire where only one home in Mystic Hill was the only left untouched by it--was spared due to its construction and landscape design. The house featured double-pained glass which helps keep heat from igniting the draperies inside the house, a tile roof sealed with concrete on the ends to keep sparks out, and stuccoed eves to hide any exposed wood. Landscaping zones of fire resistant plants also helped. Ron and Lona Ingwerson were the owner of that home.

The people and culture there are amazing…like none anywhere else I have been. I am praying for everyone there. I’m heartbroken for them. I can’t imagine how they must be feeling. Please don’t go there right now if it’s just to vacation. 💔

Tourists should not be going to Maui right now period. Resources need to be spared for residents. How pilau to only think of your safety at a time like this. We live on islands in the middle of the ocean and are reliant on supplies shipped in to us. We should not have to be using those resources to supply someone on vacation.
My heart breaks for that couple worried about their dogs. I can't imagine how frightening it would be to go home not knowing if anything would be there.

I was embarrassed just listening to that young mother with her baby telling everyone on tv, it’s ok we can just go to another island if we need to.
Only one dozen, all the cars left on front street way more than 12
