It's funny how Gaius tried to give Simon marriage counseling in a previous episode and now Simon is returning the favor.
WAAAAAAAAIT!!! It just dawned on me. Do you realise, people, that Gaius is sending this man to do a task, and he goes without hesitation? Does this remind you of certain Roman officer telling Jesus "I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes". It's so cool that Dallas and cre are setting up this for the miracle!!!
Yeah i realize it long ago when he talk about the servant boy back then fixing cistern with Simon.
I am hoping it will show this season but since it will be next season that's mean we gonna have an arc for Gaius before the miracle.
Yeah. I had inklings of that being his role back in season 2. The season 3 trailer made it more likely, and the talk about his servant with Simon pretty much confirmed it.
The conversation between Simon and Gaius was almost like a Catholic confession with Simon as priest. He even has a robe! Even with all his turmoil, Simon gives good advice and offers Gaius words of perfect peace. Wonderful scene!
He was the first pope so that would make perfect sense. Good observation
"Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my son shall be healed". Ah, the faith of a man who has seen many miracles.
"Shalom Shalom" means "perfect peace" --- You will keep him in PERFECT PEACE whose mind is stayed on You because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3
Gaius is more than interested. His faith is growing and so is his desperation. Loving the slow burn
That's why Gaius was so connected to Mathew,,, Mathew not only looks like his son but my bet is his son is half Jewish !
Sometimes when someone is hurting - they do some destructive acts....I believe Simon walked into the Roman sector because of his woundedness!
Great catch on the Roman god of storms when Simon is in a storm and heading into a worse one, which Our GOD controls!
I live how Gaius's wife responds to Gaius "I had to interrogate this Jew in private" story by asking Simon "Are you the doctor?" She sees right through the "private interrogation" BS.😂
I agree I do believe it is Poseidon because he grew up in a sailor's home. So it would only make sense that he would have a god that would actually represent his father.
The horses on the mural would indicate that it's Neptune. Poseidon is close, but that's Greek not Roman.
Enjoy watching the breakdown. Thanks.
I believe the God in the mural is Neptune. In a conversation with Simon when they were working on the cistern, he had named the Gods including Neptune
I believe according to Roman law he ( But he needs to talk to his wife and make things peaceful before he does this. ) can free his son and the adopt his son making his a Roman citizen. That way after his son is healed he could have future. ( I hope they put that in the chosen they may not but it would be sweet. 😊 )
I wonder if, when Gaius does follow Christ later on, the true identity of the servant boy will come up and how the others will handle it. Considering he feels guilt, it would seem that he has already repented in a way but unfortunately his son is living proof of his sin. I also wonder what, if anything, Jesus would say about it.
I truly love your breakdowns! Thank you for taking time to do this. It helps me be able to learn and relate this show to my relationship with God and for my life.
Glad to be with you in Israel
If the shrine in the centurions house is to Tiberias then it strikes me as horribly poignant and tragic. A good man is actually not only worshipping a mere man....but a wicked and depraved man.
The things that are "going on" at the imperial villa on Capri are so awful even many contemporary
Romans were disgusted 🤢. Soon the good man will be set free.
Gaius has a lot of authority. In surprised he couldn't force the doctors to help him.
I have been theorizing that Telemachus in Decapolis is Gospel Mark but now I'm wondering if Marius is gonna be Mark. 😁
I love Isaiah David and would love to go to Israel with y’all.
A lot can happen a year from now. I’ve had health issues suddenly arise to don’t want to commit! ❤ 😊
Thank you again for these videos. They are so helpful.
God bless you.
Thank you for your observations.
Poseidon is the Greek god of the sea- That has to be a mural of Neptune-Roman.
I do believe that we are either going to see Gaius, Atticus, or Quintus become demoted to a centurion who will then be the one that says, " truly this Man was the Son of God." I promise to get out my phone and yell "called it!!!" If it happens
You are so insightful, I always look forward to your breakdowns, I hurry to your channel after watching the show for the breakdowns lol, thank you
Simon is Accepting his friend as he is ...AS we all should. Edit ; I also cant wait to see more of this Gaius story I hope its like 4 ep 2 ( guessing ) that he runs to find Jesus to heal his son. So we have a full season to see a lil more of him Before the story moves to Jerusalem...
Simon seems to be in a state on depression which is a part of the grieving process.
The shrine looks like it's for Dionysus. and I'm so sorry I am commenting like a crazy lady haha
Hey Brandon
Then this is a cross between the centurion and his servant and the government official with his dying son.
Perhaps him being a Prima Ordinai (like a Navy Fleet Captain as opposed to just Captain)essentially makes him both?
having the shrine for the emperor in the home for worship reminded me of how in socialist countries, you're often "encouraged" to have a picture of the supreme leader.
The writing for Gaius is so wonderful. I think his character development is the best kind of slow-burn storytelling with him witnessing Jesus and the Apostles and learning and growing to trust Jesus through all the indirect interactions that happen to occur around him. I really love his character and seeing his heart change for the better. I like to speculate what Gaius will do after Jesus heals his son. I like to think that Gaius will become a disciple of Jesus and renounce his Roman authority and belief in the Roman gods in favor of glorifying Jesus. I wonder what would happen since, if he did, the Romans would likely have him executed as a traitor.
Perhaps he'll be the Gaius John writes to in 3rd John?
@@Hard_Boiled_Entertainment, doubtful. Gaius was a very common name among Romans.
@@petroskepha Absolutely. After all, it was the first name of Julius Caesar. Just saying, it'd be a fun connection.
@@Hard_Boiled_Entertainment I'd like that!
Obviously no saying that the writers have made this connection yet, but they certainly could connect the two Gaius's in their storyline. It is interesting reading reading the 3 John account several verses especially 5 through 10 sound like they could have been written to a gentile believer. Thanking him for welcoming believers who are otherwise strangers to him, and rebuking another for not welcoming certain believers, possibly because they are gentiles.
I love this show. Have you seen 'Risen?' What do you think of that? It's the story told from the centurion perspective. I think it is very well done.
I LOVE Risen. The Robe is another movie made many years ago that is from the perspective of a Roman soldier.
Poseidon is Greek/ Neptune is his Roman equivalent.
Zeus is Greek/ Jupiter is his Roman equivalent.
Need to get your gods in order.
Let's get to the story please !!
Gaius will also be the centurion who proclaims “This truly was the son of God”
I suspect they are saving that role for the investigator Roman (whose name I cannot recall), who will arrive at that conclusion at the end of his inquiry into Jesus.
Edit: Atticus is the name I forgot earlier.
When did Simon's name switch to Peter in the film production?
Your show is awesome
It wouldn't be named Poseidon the Greek name, but Neptune the Roman name of the god of the sea.
Honestly when Simon and Gaius were conversing while fixing the cistern I had wondered if the servenat was his son. Just from him saying for Simon to not laugh at his situation and how he didn't want a medal for what he was doing and then cut himself off before saying anything more to him. I figured there was some tension at home if he did in fact cheat especially since as mentioned it was more common with romans. Gaius even asked Simon if his marital issues were because of another woman.
Gaius didn't wear the armor of a legionary the Lorica Segmentata, he wore Lorica Hamata chainmail armor with decorative discs called Phalera.
Gaius is the one getting marriage advice From Simon.
Which episode has Jesus curing Gaius son?
Wow! Right on. That is so awesome ~ fishes and loves...
I wish you lived near me in Pennsylvania, I would love to do this vlog with you. I have been a follower of this series since it's inception and I love to talk about it. Unfortunately not many people around me do, and those that do do not have a lot of vlogging experience. I have vlogging experience, but I am terrible at editing which is why I never post anything.
Thank you for sharing the information. Great video
Gaius would be a Tribune
Like Marcellus Gallio in "The Robe"?
Look whos giving who marriage advice now....
It would've been funnier if somebody wrote "ROMANI ITE DOMUM"😂😂😂😂
?
The wall writing is in Greek.
Why does it look romantic instead of Greek lettering?
Where is the scene?
Not sure if he is going to be the centurion with sick servant or the the Roman leader, in the book of John who rides to find Jesus and is sent back with Jesus telling him "He is healed."
Have given up listening to your streams...😣
Gaius is getting desperate and he's beginning to believe that the only person that can save his son is Jesus. Now he has to tell Simon what he did and he knows how the Jewish people look down on the kind of things that the Romans do. If Simon took his story the wrong way he could be offended and refused to help Gaius. By telling Simon he could be condemning that boy to death because if the Jews are offended maybe Jesus won't save him. Gaius is still a little unclear about how all of this works and he's afraid as an outsider that he's going to step on a toe and that boy won't get healed. And on top of all of that Gaius is actually feeling Shame about cheating on his wife. Gaius is scared and he is walking carefully in Uncharted Territory to save his son.
If guards got in trouble and watch captains got upset because Simon came to the Roman quarter what do you imagine would happen if Jesus showed up? Gaius has to figure out how to get Jesus in there quietly. If Quintus found out that he brought Jesus to heal his son all hell would break out in Gaius' life.
And sometime he's going to find out that Malik was healed from a distance. Or that it's possible Jesus can heal from a distance. At that point he can ask Jesus to help him without risking his entire life by asking Jesus back to his house.
I think a reason we saw the interior of Gaius' house where he had the artwork of Neptune painted on the wall and his bust of Caesar in a place of reverence is because Gaius will be shown next season removing those remnants of his old beliefs before he even asks Jesus to heal his son.
He is Roman so it would most likely be Neptune. The statue looks to be most likely that of Augustus who was made to be worshipped as a god. Although, Augustus would be well dead by now. seeing a bust of him to be worshipped doesn't seem wrong. As we see Gaius being featured in metal armor even though all the Roman Soldiers should have lorica segmentata(plate) which was made of iron or steel depending on the grade or at very least lorica hamata (chainmail) seems to signify Gaius being of a high rank. The very name for Gaius as given who was German likely had a different name at birth. The name Gaius in this case is due to Gaius Julius Caesar who was made a god after death. There was a temple at this time were one would worship both Gaius and Augustus in Rome. Gaius being of high rank at least they gave him proper armor even though still kind of low grade given budget I understand to a point, but I could make similar armor going to a hardware store for looks reasons. You could get thin aluminum cut to the sizes needed while not cheap not super expensive either and likely the same cost as they did here. The Romans never used leather and shouldn't have wristbands. A Roman arms were bare. It is nice to see him having the red scarf used to help stop the abrasion to the neck.
If you want someone deep into Roman life and understanding. I am huge one it. Like a portion of scripture some mistake. A soldier do at the cross gives Jesus vinegar on a stick for him to drink. What people don't understand that is an old roman drink of vinegar and water mix called Posca that the roman soldiers drank as it was like Gatorade to them. They didn't drink wine pure. They always diluted the wine and considered drinking any alcohol undiluted as barbarian. Roman wine wouldn't likely get you drunk unless you had a ton of it. He also tells his wife to grab his cloak. A Roman soldier likely owned a few cloaks. We see Gaius with a cape or cloak being worn. They wore it so if they were sent off they would have a blanket ready. The whole Roman quarters bit was interesting as it doesn't seem so much an issue with having a Jew there, but one who wouldn't be a slave. Yet, I don't have much issue the way it was handled. It would have been nice to see the guard walking the street to be wearing lorica hamata rather then the leather mess. He was just a guard after all. A city guard might even just have a cloak with a sword and shield rather then any armor at all. The Romans also had clubs for guard posts. The sword would have only been if the subject seemed dangerous.
But what I was wondering is why Gaius's cloak the same style as Simon the former Zealots cloak?
The mural is Poseidon aka Neptune and the Neriads. Poseidon was married to one of them. Poseidon had several concubines. Livia sounds happy, if it is the doctor. Gaius is a Frank. It is the name Charles. They had concubines.
Why is it crazy?
Why couldn’t Simon heal the child? Did Jesus not give them the ability to heal, was it taken away? Again thank you I know I ask a lot of questions but want to learn. Shalom Shalom
Whether he can or not, he's currently struggling with whether he's Worthy or not. So he doesn't exactly have the confidence to try.
@Dr.Sandy. I believe Jesus gave the apostles the power of healing only when He sent them two by two. However he did say that SOMEDAY,they will have it all the time. That’s what I understood anyway.
My impression was they only had the healing ability during the 2-by-2 mission. In Clean when Nathaniel and Thaddeus saw Veronica was bleeding and she told them she had been bleeding for 12 years, they took her to Jesus. If they were able to heal the sick on their own at that time they would have healed her.
THANK YOU GUYS
At that time He only have them authority for a time, which was when they were sent out by twos
Let the people figure it out. Talk less, show more Please....toooo much talk!
To be honest, when the Roman graffiti came up I started looking to see if they hid “Romanes eunt domus” in it.
i dont understand the insult to the Romans why is it an insult
His full name is either Gaius Cornelius or Caius Longinus
Considering the Faithful Centvrio might be the first Latin Christian , I feel extremely strongly over Gaivs .
Talk toooo much! Show and shhhhh
You talk too much.
So don’t watch it
poseidon isnt a roman god or zues there greek neptune is romans god of sea
