The problem all along was that Simon and Eden did not bring their troubles to Jesus. He should have been their first resort. They chose to tough it out on their own. That never ends well. Watching this episode I was reminded of my favorite CS Lewis quote- “Do not be deceived, Wormwood. Our cause is never more in danger than when a human, no longer desiring, but still intending, to do our Enemy’s will, looks round upon a universe from which every trace of Him seems to have vanished, and asks why he has been forsaken, and still obeys. ” - C. S. Lewis
@@user-nk7fr1dx6r blasphemy is another way of saying something is false. If someone doesn't give their life to Jesus, that's an example of blasphemy. That's pretty much states that you don't believe Jesus dies for you. Because it's unforgivable, that's when a person goes to hell.
I feel that when Jesus heals the man with the broken leg and then turns to Simon and says, Simon I’m glad your here was his way of trying to remind Simon that he does heal those that come to him and ask. Almost saying I can heal you too.
Simon says "Faith is not my problem, I think I was a mistake" and so when he calls to Jesus, saying "bid me get out of this boat and come to you" I really feel like Simon is saying "If I am not a mistake, call me again! Through the dark, Through the storm. Call me again, and I will come" Like in the gospels when Jesus reinstates Peter after his resurrection, I think this is meant to be a little midway reinstating.
I can understand the hurt Simon and Eden endured. My husband and I lost our first child at 5 months into the pregnancy. Two years later I had an emergency surgery due to the condition that caused the miscarriage. We were told we would never have children. Honestly, I grieved for 7 years. I prayed for other women and watched the Lord bless them with children, but I could not attend a baby shower or hold a baby. I often had to walk out of Mother's Day services because I would begin to weep. It definitely stressed our marriage. At 7 years, on my job at a preschool I was sent to the infant room, as the usual worker became ill. As I rocked that baby, the Lord healed my soul. 5 years later, through another amazing story, the Lord opened my womb, and I had a daughter, followed by another the next year. In His Time. God is good.
"A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’ And he answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went." It's no accident they included this parable here because this was Simon throughout this episode. He was angry and bitter, but he still obeyed and believed at every turn, better than he has at any point up til now.
I never thought about that. I was just excited to hear one of my favourite parables which to my knowledge maybe only occurs once in the gospels. Which is VERY unusual for a parable in the gospels...
I loved this episode of Snipe. You asked us to leave a comment. One thing I thought was so important, that I have not heard mentioned , was in the scene of walking on the water. One of the key lines, in the whole series and in the Bible, they had Jesus say to Simon, was "Why do you think I allow trials? Because they prove the genuineness of your faith." (I Peter 1: 6,7) This is exactly what Jesus said to Simon in this scene. We know that Peter suffered greatly for the Gospel. He said our faith is more precious than gold. How in the world did he come to believe his words, and become the man of faith that God sent into the world to bring us the gospel? I think it is beautiful and brilliant that the writers of the Chosen were doing exactly what this series is all about -Showing a creative fiction back-story to help us see the how the word of God was written by real men who had to go through hard trials like all of us, in order to teach us God's process of sanctification, and the hope it gives us. God bless all of you.
So, my 9-year old daughter is reading through Matthew right now as her Bible time. We also have started watching the Chosen as a family. As we were watching episode 6, and they got to the part about John the Baptist’s disciples, she turned to me and was very excited as she said, “I was just reading this!” This show may be a show that is meant to entertain, and I would never have it replace Bible reading. But, it has directly increased my daughter’s interest in reading her Bible. I expect to have some more good discussion when we get to watch episode 8.
I think Atticus sensed that something was happening but it was veiled from him. Even his horse was reacting to something it seemed. This was a private moment for just Jesus and the 12. Just my thoughts
If that’s the case, that would make sense. A lot of people are saying that he is the Roman that says “truly, this is the son of God”, meaning his revelation will come at the cross.
I think Shmuel is one of the most interesting characters - and I have no idea where Dallas and the crew are going to take him. He is clearly prideful, self-assured, stiff necked, and prejudiced. Yet, each scene with him, there is an earnestness of commitment to do the right thing. In my mind, it's hard to call his actions "hypocritical", at least compared to the other Pharisees portrayed on the show. While he may not be Saul, he seems like the perfect character to stand in his place on this show.
I think that last scene when Jesus says “why do you think I allow such trials? They strengthen you and your faith.” This is nearly exactly what he said to Little James. I found both of these scenes so powerful and important.
Sorry for a second comment, but I’m with Simon Peter! My last five-six years have been dark and feeling excluded or ignored by God. And I don’t think Simon lacks trust, as you suggested. He lacks understanding that God’s ways are not our ways, that He will do what He wills and our call is to follow, to submit to His ways. At least what He is teaching me is that, as Simon says, God will do what He wants. I know He can do whatever He wishes, and whatever He wants to accomplish will be accomplished! The pain comes in learning that in His love for us and for me specifically, “bones will still break,” the rain will fall equally on the just, getting them wet, ruining their day, just as it will on the unjust. But through it all, He is still God on His throne. Anyway, I SO appreciate Dallas taking the story this way, showing the frustration from “one of your own people” who wants to not have this pain…but God is allowing that pain and will not be magically fixing it.
@ccreasman I’m so sorry for your hurt. And I understand. I We prayed and trusted and did not get the healing in our home. And though I continued to pray and believe healing for others, for 6-7 years there was a pang of hurt when others received the healing we were denied. Even as I rejoiced for them. It took me a long time to surrender to the peace of God’s sovereignty. Peter’s storyline was so well done, even if it was extrabiblical.
I felt like Simon represented me during moments when I feel anger that things aren't going good for me and I feel unworthy and then that moment comes when I give all my burden to Jesus and feel that pain and sorrow leaving my body. very emotional moment for me.
When Andrew said Ghost, suddenly I remembered Season 2 Episode 1 when Andrew responded to Photina's husband when he said that there is a ghost of his dead grandmother in his house and he said "I might be" 🤣 he was so scared with ghost stuffs. And I think this is the most realistic Walk on the water scene of all Jesus movies or series that I watched.
That's why James said it was impossible too, since Jesus told him that the room wasn't haunted. James remembered what Jesus said so he didn't think it possible for the sea to be haunted
These two episodes really took me back to that moment in Season 1 when Simon was yelling out at God, accusing Him of not making up His mind if the Jews are chosen or not. Now he's struggling with whether the Father and the Messiah care about him personally, and whether he is really chosen or not and what that means. And God found him on the water...again.
Excellent connection-especially how Jesus "found him on the water again." And again, Simon realizes his where he is in sin, repents, and throws himself on the mercy of Christ. This episode was so heavy. Peter's eventual denial is going to just wreck me--and then Jesus will meet him again when Peter is in the boat! Oh, wow!
@@leslielewis7286 I think that might be why he buys the boat in this episode, and especially why he decides to go fishing at the end of the Gospel of John. He's feeling lost, and in the back of his mind he's trying to go back to the place and moment where he was found. Of course, I'm sure (in the episode at least) this would only have been in the back of his mind. He was mostly thinking about practical concerns and wanting to get out of there as fast as possible, maybe also wanting to cut down on time spent with the disciples and Jesus since he clearly didn't want to be there with them. Probably also thinking he's good for nothing else, but he can row a boat!
The last scene was very powerful and emotional. I am surprised Dallas decided to do it. I have never seen this scene recreated on screen. Obviously, the challenges of bringing this scene to life with CGI would be difficult with a low budget. Hearing Dallas last night after the show, it was clear this was his biggest fear. But like season 1 with the fish, they did very well. I absolutely loved it. It was impactful, emotional, muti-layered, and concluded Simon and Eden's journey through the pain of their loss. Best way to close season 3...with resolve and no cliffhanger. 👏
@BlackholeTtson452 Hello! If you watch the extras content in the app, they give you a behind the scenes look at the making of that scene. I definitely recommend watching it, if possible. They shot the scene in a warehouse with machinery moving platforms underneath the water...then added CGI around the footage. I enjoyed learning about it. Maybe you would too. Regardless, have a great day! God Bless!
This was so well done and has such deep spiritual significance, my favorite part is when Jesus reaching His hand in the water to pull Peter out speaks volumes. I think they did a really great job with the storm scene
I have taught adults to swim by first teaching them to float. But to float successfully you have to be relaxed so the air in your body is not pushed out by muscle tension. Peter was tensed by distractions so he sank instead of floating. Since he is muscular there is no fat to help hold air...more tension less air. His relaxation was in keeping his eyes on Jesus, who he trusted, but was mad at. So, if let life distract us we start sinking. Life season here.
The Chosen alway surprises me. Every time I watch a new episode I think to myself, this won’t be as good as the last, but sure as rain, it’s better. I relate to Simon, and this episode made me realize how much. This show has brought me so much closer to God, to Jesus. I look forward to watching season 4’s episodes as they are released, they keep on nourishing my soul. God bless everyone.
This episode was so amazing. The lead up to and portrayal of Jesus walking on water was epic. I know there has been a lot of talk and speculation about if they were going to do it or not so when they showed the storm clouds rolling in I just thought, "no way, they're gonna do it!!!". My excitement level shot through the roof. I watched it twice in the theater and the second time during that scene I looked across the aisle and at the rows behind me. I saw everyones mouth drop and lean forward in their seats. The whole theater was on the edge of their seats during that whole scene. It was just amazing to be there and feel the eneregy in the room.
Interesting that Atticus was eating a bit of the "miracle bread." I wondered, too, if Atticus saw anything. The universal cry of every heart, "Don't let me go."
The more I see it, this scene, the more I love it! Simon becomes almost childlike, “don’t let me go “ & repeats the plea as Jesus guided Simon into the boat! Ah, powerfully done! I treasure this Jesus moment! ♥️🙌🏽🥹
I'm curiously thinking about that too. Jesus was seemed like he was about to give shmuel clarity of everything during the prayer. Do u know any explanation from Bible...? What would happened further. Anyone...? 🤔
I couldn't imagine Atticus or anyone would simply walk away after seeing that sight, even if he would think it was not quite real (of course, it was), I definitely want to know more from this. Jesus reminds us 'I am always here', and He is.
I actually watched the live stream and Dallas actually mentions that they didn't have a lot of money going into this scene, so it looks the way that it does because of not being able to do more, also the water room they used was actually very old so there was a lot of limitations but I am still impressed they were able to do what they did!
Everyday we wake up in that boat…the chaos and storms brewing around us. And everyday Jesus calls us out into the Sea to test our faith. I love this scene so much. Lord give me the strength to step out and walk on the water everyday and never take my eyes off you.
We went to see it in the theater and unbelievably the projector broke at the beginning of episode 8. They were unable to fix and offered rainchecks. I was kinda happy that no one became hostile or angry. Everyone was truly gracious. But I was not ok just leaving without seeing it and tried to negotiate another room for us to continue. Long story short they allowed the few that stayed perplexed to go into another room that had already started and we were able to finish watching it. It's so funny now when I look back I just had no acceptance about not finishing and I imagine the Lord blessed my perseverance. I just know I was grateful.
We watched the episode on the Angel Studios website, with the official subtitles. It's sort of nicer because we can see names of the characters speaking. By the water scene, Simon's name in the script is changed to Peter (like it says "PETER:" and then the line) I'm pretty sure the script calls him Simon earlier on in episode 8. Maybe this is an easter egg! Anyway, this water scene and the Psalm 77 parallel is probably within the top 5 most well-made scenes of The Chosen. Definitely a favorite for me!
Think about it…for the disciples, it is MORE plausible that a ghost appeared than a human could walk on water. Probably would have been my thought too, but also a great depiction of the smallness of their faith as depicted through the episode.
Apart from the gospel passages, the Scripture that immediately came to mind for me was Peter's words in his first letter: In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the *tested genuineness of your faith*-more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire-may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
I was disappointed they didn't show Atticus seeing more - especially depicting his dismay as the sea suddenly calmed. I hope he did see it and we just don't t know it yet. Perhaps Atticus is the Centurion at the foot of the cross concluding Jesus is the Son of God. We can hope. Good vid. Keep at it!
If you have the subtitles on during episode 8, when Jesus rescues Simon from drowning and the gets on the boat, his name in the subtitles changes to Peter. I think through this situation, Simon becomes Peter the rock. This trial that Simon and Eden suffered proved the genuineness of his faith. Hence strengthening him. Simon had to become Peter!!!
I think that was a mistake in the wording of the subtitles. I don’t think they would have such a significant thing (changing his name) just happen like that when it’s only seen in subtitles. I think that was a typo with someone who is used to him already being Peter by the time this event takes place in the Bible and they accidentally typed Peter. (In fact, I emailed the show to tell them about the error and they replied saying that they’re working on the CC). I think the writers will still do the name-change moment properly in season 4.
Brandon - I can’t wait until you get back from Israel and can watch the Aftershow where they show how they filmed the walking on water scene in a tank. I would love to hear your reaction to what they share. I think it is so amazing!
I remember! The faith question may not seem like a detail to consider when you think of it as Simon has faith, aka believes in Jesus. However when you account WHAT faith is, as it is explained to us in Hebrews. It becomes a valid question and actually becomes a debate or question on whether Simon HAS faith.
I love Matt Whitman's description of this scene on his podcast about the gospel of Matthew, "Seeing Jesus, very reassuring... seeing Jesus walking on water in a storm, that's terrifying!" The more I think about the journey Simon's character goes on from "the miracle of the fish" to what he's going to go through with Jesus being crucified and resurrected at the end of the series, this is such a good halfway point. I love the sort of challenge in Simon's voice and how the show has Jesus always getting people to the point where they say "I don't know!" and then He gets to work.
1956 it was The Ten Commandments; then Exodus in 1960. I remember going to the walk-in theater...so amazing what these people went through. The Bible was important back in my generation. All these movies...we enjoyed them and we still watch them today. In 2004, The Passion of the Christ was amazing...loved.the reality of that whole movie. We use to respect the stories told on the silver screen. My generation enjoys the stories these directors work hard to tell. I hope people will come back for more.
I saw this in the theater and then watched it again when it aired. Both episode seven and eight! They did an after show where they showed where they filmed it at a giant tank in Louisiana. It was fascinating to watch how they did it.
Great Job. I Love how you pulled the Word of God and read it on the Walking on water scene. Simon actually walked on water too for a while. Great Job!!!
Just a nitpick, I wish there could have been more wind during the walk on water scene. Like their hair and clothing should've been moved by the strong winds/storm. Since the Bible talks about the "wind", not the waves - that distracted Peter. Nevertheless, the sound effects made up to it I guess. Also, I'm more interested on the story itself than being a perfectionist :P and oh well, maybe the reason for it might just be for us viewers to fully see their faces and get more immersed on the story (more than the effects and all). PS. SO PLS DONT GET ME WRONG, I'M JUST AN OBSERVANT KIND OF GUY. YET IT WAS STILL AN AMAZING SCENE AND I LOVE IT ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY PARALLELED THAT SCENE TO EDEN'S PERSPECTIVE. SO GOOOOOOD. THEY DID AN AMAZING AMAZING JOB. I'm still so thankful to God for this show as it continues to help me understand and love the Bible more and more. Also, my prayer is that may this just be a constructive criticism, and be more like an encouragement to everyone's working on the show. Please do know that I'm praying for all of you. 2nd PS. I've paid it forward today! Love you all
I will say as much as I loved this whole episode and the WOW scene I do wish they would have had at least one more shot leading into it. The cut between Jesus talking to Shmuel then to the Apostles in the boat and him walking on water was just a pinch abrupt. This is not even a nitpick for me because I love scene. It's just my own filmmaking aesthetic but I think a shot of Jesus walking down to the shore and looking out into the storm for a moment then talking a step forward but cutting before his foot hits the water, would have been a great little lead into that scene. Just a little something to build to the moment. You could have had Atticus see him walking to the shore and move in for a closer look only to have Jesus not there anymore. Just a little suspense building. Anyhoot - it's all just fanciful daydreaming about the perfect version in my head. Either way they still did an absolutely amazing job.
When Simon said he was a mistake, it hit me dip because sometimes you really believe you're a mistake after you try to do everything right and bad things still happen.
The scene depicted of the disciples in the storm combined two SEPARATE events recorded in scripture. Mark wrote in chapter 4 of Jesus calming the sea; and wrote in chapter 6 of when Jesus walked upon the sea. One event followed the other. Here is the Pearl: When Jesus calmed the storm his disciples rhetorically asked: “What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” By later walking on the water he answered their question. It is written: “Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.” - Job 9:8 By identifying himself as he that walked on the waves of the sea, he was also identifying himself as he that spread out the heavens!
My marriage has been pretty rough lately. My husband is dealing w stuff I won't go into here. But this show has been such a blessing through that. He is so so much like Simon's (Peter) character. But I know the man God sees in Him too. We both cried through the end of season 3. What a beautiful way to show the humanity of these people.
Love this channel! I think the first link back to Eden is when the men are on the boat and I believe Big James says, the 4th Watch. When Eden miscarried, it was also the 4th Watch. I love that both Eden & Simon Peter are both being cleansed together! Although, the Eden scene with her Ema and Salome kinda gave me the heebeegeebees!! I am also seeing a Lil James 2x2 correlation here… when’s Lil James went to Jesus questioning how he could heal others while he’s not healed of his disability. Jesus said he would know how to proclaim that he still praises God in spite of not being healed. To show people how to be patient with the suffering here on earth because there will be no suffering in heaven. Jesus allowed these things to build their faith and make them stronger in him. Also both scenes of Lil James and Eden reference Job, the Lord gives and the Lord takes away.
Correction: Eden miscarried on the 3rd watch. But the 4th watch is still of significance. Eden and Simon being cleansed. If I understand correctly, the 4th Watch is the darkest Watch which is why after the suffering, Jesus is the light in the darkness that redeems us and heals our broken hearts.
I believe the reason Simon bought the boat was because he was so mad that he was going to go back to being a fisherman, and then thought about getting everyone back as a secondary thought and a reason that sounds plausible for buying it to the others. Just my theory on it...
I think the same thing because when John spoke to him before he went and got the boat Simon said I won't be in your way much longer. So I think he was planning to quit following Jesus.
@@Jinjerella ALSO - I just thought about this - Simon paid for the boat with his own money, so it was not for the group after they got home - because Judas is the one in charge of the money. So I think he was gonna leave, and this was his attempt.
Omg yes!! I didn’t think of that. I mean I thought that that was what Simon was implying when he said “I won’t be in your way much longer” and that he thinks he was a mistake. But I didn’t think that that was probably why he was buying the boat. Probably he was planning to get everyone back and then just go back to fishing as soon as they returned to Capernaum.
Jonah was not jealous of Gentiles. If you understood the historical context of Jonah, you would know that Jonah didn't want to deliver the message that God wanted him to give to the Ninevites on account of the fact that the Assyrians were a brutal ppl, and they used to do some of the most evil things to ppl that they conquered, especially Israelites. Jonah simply believed that they didn't deserve God's mercy.
We can follow God reluctantly when we are hurt as Peter is during this scene. God called the Israelites and even Paul refers to us being stubborn in how we follow Christ
_Peter_ spoke on all the disciples' behalf at the following Pentecost, God first revealed the knowledge to _Peter_ that salvation was extended to the Gentiles, and Paul specifically stated in Gal. 1 that he went to Jerusalem to be authenticated as an apostle by _Peter_ . The fact that Simon was renamed "Peter" is inherent proof that he was the leader, as the name designated a person as the leader of a religion in the ancient world.
It doesn't have to be real water to be overwhelmed, and being scared, my sister and I are having a struggle with our dad and step-mom, but Satan is the one behind it.
I'm pretty sure Atticus was being kept from seeing anything. The show has done a really good job at showing just how careful Jesus was in people not spreading word of his miracles until he is ready for them to. Walking on water would have been such a major report that the Pharisees would have taken action much sooner to kill Jesus. Atticus does seem like he has a hungry spirit though (which I believe him CONSTANTLY eating is trying to symbolize) so Jesus will reveal himself to Atticus later on. Now is just not the right time.
I never thought about any background as to why it was Peter that met Jesus on the sea and walked on water. There had to be a back story that wasn’t recorded in scripture that provided more context. Amazing how The Chosen gives us some potential perspective of that without distorting the main point. Well done. Shahar’s character mood range from sad to angry to scared to desperate was beautiful to watch. Bravo! Breathtaking.
I thought the same. Growing up it always seemed interesting/strange that Peter said and did what he said/did innthe Bible in this scene. The show definitely gave us a good possible context for it. I wonder if Shahar will convert after casting in this show.
@@priscillajimenez27 I wonder why Shahar barely does any interviews or any behind the scenes stuff with The Chosen. Never seen him in any round table or interview which is disappointing because he’s so central !
@@Adaobieistyping considering he grew up around Judaism it makes you wonder why he's as far as atheist. He probably feels he doesnt have much feedback to give on the show right now. Hopefully that changes.
This scene really knocked me for a loop. I did not expect to see the walking on water scene in full this season. Simon hugging Jesus and saying " please don't let me go" and Jesus comforting him was heartwarming. I loved Thomas' line about how this is the second most amazing thing he's seen today. That was hilarious. However I must admit all of the extra biblical dialogue between Jesus and Simon came off as a little over the top. I get what they were trying to convey with the story but I would have preferred this time around for them to stick a lil more closer to the scriptures. All in all, great episode. Season 3 was the bomb🔥🔥🔥👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽. Definitely worth the wait and I am definitely hyped for season 4.
By far my favorite episode. Having been through extreme trauma only a year after coming to salvation in Jesus, I so resonated with Simon’s anger, and hurt and despair. Learning to trust Jesus in this area again was an 18 year journey for me. Many times of steps forward and steps backward. God showed Himself completely trustworthy to me - He truly will never let His children go, nor forsake them ❤️
In the conversation with Jonathan after Episode 8, Dallas talks about the tank facility they found in Louisiana for shooting this scene and even shows a clip of what it was like. Look for it. 🙂
This season was one of the most amazing seasons, and episode 8, I was reduced to tears in the storm. The realization that this happened, to be able to see the Word brought to life in a way we can see what others saw thousands of years ago.... and the mighty power of our Lord and Saviour..ohhhhh so so good.. priase the Lord we have a saviour who wont let us go..🙏❤️🇨🇦
Hey Brandon, I guess at this point you know that the stormy sea, closer up waves, rain and Jesus’ and Simon’s interaction and Simon sinking was shot in a big tank full of water with the boat and a couple of floating pads for them to walk on. I, too, think that, overall, they did a fantastic job, especially without a huge budget by comparison.
You go to Holy Scripture & immediately I stop every thing else I'm doing: find my thumb up & Subscribe. Well done! Please don't stop & I'll be here for your next offering. ; )
Just like the disciples at first, think they've seen a ghost,..I think that Atticus thinks he seen something,..and dismissed it, hence, him walking away.
I have questions: 1. Did the travelers get caught in the same storm walking back to their areas of the Decapolis? 2. What did the disciples do with the 12 baskets of leftovers?
The problem all along was that Simon and Eden did not bring their troubles to Jesus. He should have been their first resort. They chose to tough it out on their own. That never ends well. Watching this episode I was reminded of my favorite CS Lewis quote- “Do not be deceived, Wormwood. Our cause is never more in danger than when a human, no longer desiring, but still intending, to do our Enemy’s will, looks round upon a universe from which every trace of Him seems to have vanished, and asks why he has been forsaken, and still obeys. ” - C. S. Lewis
exactly....Jesus says "come to me with your burdens" and they did not.
Simon and Eden expected Jesus to come to them rather than the other way around.

Just like how Mary needed to be redeemed multiple times.

Whoever humbles himself like this child will be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 😀😃🙂
This was THE FIRST episode that sent me straight to my Bible. This episode was EPIC beyond words. That lightning silhouette was IT for me.
Agreed.. the second I saw the silhouette the tears started flowing.
This episode was fantastic. It seems to me that Simon and Eden were baptized by Jesus at the same time.
Jesus heals Gauis son I’m hoping will be included in season 4
That was my thought too!
@@kaylalebby89 that is such an interesting thought. And it would make sense. Let’s see.
@@kaylalebby89 that would be awesome
Shmuel is noticing that those people who seem to be on his “side” are not the good ones.
@@paulbrusuelas6706 Make sure you watch the interview with him in the Aftershow in the app (with Chris and Jalein)
I think that last scene when Jesus says “why do you think I allow such trials? They strengthen you and your faith.” This is nearly exactly what he said to Little James. I found both of these scenes so powerful and important.
Exactly! The little James scene and now this one are my favorites of the season. So well acted and powerful in their message.
I shed tears when Simon kept saying dont let me go
I was Crying so much when Jesus and Simon had The Moment and
Simon Said Don't let me Go..
Awe. THAT WAS A BEAUTIFUL MOMENT
Probably also thinking he's good for nothing else, but he can row a boat!
...
Worth hearing more from Dallas and the producers involved in the Aftershow in the app (with Chris and Jalein)! Lots more Behind The Scenes ...
It almost looks like a heart as Simon and Eden come back together
I have taught adults to swim by first teaching them to float. But to float successfully you have to be relaxed so the air in your body is not pushed out by muscle tension. Peter was tensed by distractions so he sank instead of floating. Since he is muscular there is no fat to help hold air...more tension less air. His relaxation was in keeping his eyes on Jesus, who he trusted, but was mad at. So, if let life distract us we start sinking. Life season here.
I wished they had included at least a disciple whispering- " Truly, you are the Son of God!" . The scene was so focused on Simon!
Funny but I watched at home and leaned forward in my seat too. Riveted to the screen even though I knew the storyline.
Interesting that Atticus was eating a bit of the "miracle bread."
I wondered, too, if Atticus saw anything.
I’m kinda now interested of what happened to the conversation with Jesus and Shmuel?
I'm curiously thinking about that too.
Jesus was seemed like he was about to give shmuel clarity of everything during the prayer. Do u know any explanation from Bible...? What would happened further. Anyone...? 🤔
Me too! Man, I really wanted to hear some of that. Wonder if we will?
@@ravijake2117 there's no Schmuel in the Bible. I hope the Chosen follows up with the conversation though 🙂. The after show talks to the actor.
I loved seeing Atticus watching from the shore!😉
I couldn't imagine Atticus or anyone would simply walk away after seeing that sight, even if he would think it was not quite real (of course, it was), I definitely want to know more from this. Jesus reminds us 'I am always here', and He is.
saw in theaters and still couldn't wait to watch the live streams :). Love it!!! Episodes 5 and 8 are my favorites this season.
When you stopped Simons under water scene, I realIzed I was holding my breath! Lol!
The scene blew me away! I thought it was excellent! Looks so real!
I couldn't believe it when they said the storm used in the walking on water was filmed in Australia then layered on top of the scene in the tank!
I love love love the chosen..
Apart from the gospel passages, the Scripture that immediately came to mind for me was Peter's words in his first letter:
In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the *tested genuineness of your faith*-more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire-may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
I love Matthew’s, “Incredible,” and Thomas’s, “How is this the second most amazing thing I’ve seen today!?”
Good vid. Keep at it!
The Chosen did a excellent job on this walking on water scene
A shame he didn’t really fulfill a leadership role in the book of acts. Paul called him out on more screwups. :/
I have noticed simon’s leadership skills, I went from not liking his character last season, to loving him in season 3.
I hope Ryan and Tyler will sit with you one day. Love your page, thank you.
I loved this episode.
Yes, I noticed that too when I had the subtitles on.
At 4:06 jesus having flashbacks to Job lol
I love Matt Whitman's description of this scene on his podcast about the gospel of Matthew, "Seeing Jesus, very reassuring... seeing Jesus walking on water in a storm, that's terrifying!"
The more I think about the journey Simon's character goes on from "the miracle of the fish" to what he's going to go through with Jesus being crucified and resurrected at the end of the series, this is such a good halfway point.
Oh, I thought the tank was in Alabama.
Here is the Pearl:
When Jesus calmed the storm his disciples rhetorically asked: “What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
By later walking on the water he answered their question. It is written: “Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.” - Job 9:8
By identifying himself as he that walked on the waves of the sea, he was also identifying himself as he that spread out the heavens!
The effect was simply amazing!!! It was perfect!
Really enjoyed this video- great insight and some things I had not thought of. Thank you!
This flipped me right out! So amazing! To know this really happened. I love it❤️✝️☮️
Magnificent writing. Acting by far
Beautiful ❤ Amazing Show❤
I believe the reason Simon bought the boat was because he was so mad that he was going to go back to being a fisherman, and then thought about getting everyone back as a secondary thought and a reason that sounds plausible for buying it to the others.
Simon Peter in this episode reminds me of Jonah. Peter just like Jonah was jealous Jesus was choosing the Gentiles over His own people.
Wow! Right now, I’m going through what Peter’s going through. I relate to him so much right now
It fits with the parable told of the two sons- the reluctant one who follows and the responsive son who doesn’t obey
We can follow God reluctantly when we are hurt as Peter is during this scene. God called the Israelites and even Paul refers to us being stubborn in how we follow Christ
Peter was never the leader of the apostles as the show is making him out to be.
Gosh that scene makes me cry every time
I'm pretty sure Atticus was being kept from seeing anything.
@@priscillajimenez27 what is his current religion?
@@Adaobieistyping he's ethnically Israeli but I heard he's atheist
@@priscillajimenez27 I wonder why Shahar barely does any interviews or any behind the scenes stuff with The Chosen. Never seen him in any round table or interview which is disappointing because he’s so central !
@@Adaobieistyping considering he grew up around Judaism it makes you wonder why he's as far as atheist. He probably feels he doesnt have much feedback to give on the show right now. Hopefully that changes.
Hey Brandon watching again because well i like your show and The Chosen
Excellent scene the water scene ❤
God showed Himself completely trustworthy to me - He truly will never let His children go, nor forsake them ❤️
yeah, wonder what Atticus was seeing.
This is my favorite scene just the way it is because it shows both pleading with Jesus not to let him go ❤
I really enjoyed your analysis.well done.
The only thing I didn't like about the special effects was that Jesus was bobbing with the waves.. other than that it was great.
In the conversation with Jonathan after Episode 8, Dallas talks about the tank facility they found in Louisiana for shooting this scene and even shows a clip of what it was like. Look for it. 🙂
Much more about that in the Aftershow in the app (with Chris and Jalein)
The special effects were great!
Thank you for this episode. I needed this this morning.
Loved it! Saw in the theater.
We watched the episode with subtitles on, and toward the end during the walking on water scene, they had changed his name to "Peter".
They shot the pool scene in Louisiana, Dallas said. It was shut down for a year prior to their request but the owners opened it up for them. Amen
You go to Holy Scripture & immediately I stop every thing else I'm doing: find my thumb up & Subscribe. Well done! Please don't stop & I'll be here for your next offering. ; )
Everyone has done an amazing job on this movie it's my favorite
I think Simon was planning on leaving since he made reference to not being there much longer
Simon left so Peter could come
Awesome commentary 🙏🏼
It was in a closed pool in Louisiana. The storm pictures were taken in Australia.
See the after show - they show how it was shot.
