Lisa, I have just begun to grow out my colored hair. I am 63 years old, and have only a few gray hairs, interspersed with my natural color. I have gotten foil highlights for years and have stopped. After two months, I am happy that I have decided to do this. My hair is fairly short, so I can cut off the colored enhanced hair rather regularly and will be able to reach my goal within about 6 months. Your video is inspiring and i am just going to keep going. THANKS!

I have silver hair and get compliments all the time!! I have black streaks here and there, but it makes it look more unique, and it is so much healthier without color. I really loved your eyebrow video, I had been using taupe on my brows, but followed your suggestion and am using dark brown now, and it matches my hair much better! I started transitioning my hair to gray about 6 months ago. I guess what I am ending up from what I see on the top is silver with blonde streaks which has been a big surprise. I am surprised by the blonde streaks. I did have my hair highlighted several times to lighten the color so the grow out wouldn't be so difficult. Then I had toner applied and the last treatment was gray highlights added back in. I am so glad I am going gray. I don't know why but I really like it.

I have to smile as I watch this. It amazes me how many people in our worlds think they know what's best for us. When I made the decision to let my hair go natural back in 2007, I had many vocal dissenters who decided it made me look older. It washed me out, some said. Now, all these years later, the world has caught up and my color is the hottest new look for young and old, with wig companies offering countless styles in shades from pure white to wonderful shades of gray. It is so liberating to let the real you out to embrace. You look gorgeous and it is your striking and most unusual color that drew me to you in the first place. You are so encouraging. I love your gray hair. My hair is quite curly and live in the south. I constantly struggle with the kink around the scalp. Longer hair helps quite a bit. Wearing a ponytail all summer seems like a great way to keep growing out my gray and staying cool. 😎
I love it. Im also 49 and lve been prematurely going gray at 15 and tired of the damage coloring my hair but the feedback and complements from strangers is astonishing and very encouraging.

Naomi Cairns I agree! I am transitioning to vegan - I say transitioning because I eat eggs sometimes, I can see a big change in my skin as far as tone, texture & even firmness. I'm using the same face products as always . I think our diet is more powerful than we realize!

You are stunning! I love the grey on you. I also completely grew out my natural color! I just went yesterday and had the last of the old bleached hair cut out, and it took me just under 2 years for it to reach my shoulders, but it was completely worth it! I felt the same way you do about just wanting to feel completely like myself again.
Lisa don't let trolls give you their less than two cent opinion of what they don't like or tell you that you look older, etc, Because of you, I have been inspired to let my gray grow out. I'm so tired of dying my hair and putting chemicals in every few weeks! I'm 46 and have been dying my hair since my early 20's. You are rocking the look and it in no way makes you look older. So many young women are having their hair processed to silver or gray at a large cost..... we're getting that look, FOR FREE.
My natural hair is white. It took me 4 years to grow it all out to bra strap length as I didn't want to cut my hair. It is now hip length. I get daily compliments. Done are the days of fighting white roots and coloring my hair until it was damaged. So freeing! And I absolutely love my white hair! You look fabulous! I am going thru the same thing. I want my natural color very light silver hair. The old bleached color needs toning as it's an ugly yellowish blonde. The new and natural color looks beautiful. I don't want to cut my old hair bc I want my length. I have to trim it little by little and in the meantime it looks terrible. I will try your way, thank you. You look stunning. :)

I have been thinking on doing the same than you for a while... I still have no much grey hair but I have not colored for years and I am not planning to color it. My only problem is that I have very long dark curly hair... so I will star by making grey highlights all around to look better... I will finally cut it shorter and paint it all grey. I think it might be true, being stressed out can make your hair grey. I have been through some very stressful years. My hair has some grey. I am thinking of coloring it, yet the thought of keeping up with it is such a turn off. Lisa, no way does it make you look old. You are so pretty!

Your color is beautiful! Thank you for your honesty about the problem you had with bleaching. I too am growing out my blonde hair for natural, and it is painful to live with the tri-color hair. I think you've convinced me not to bleach out the color. I have fine ( thin) hair and don't trust it would survive bleaching. I'll just trim it and pull it back in the process.

Your gray hair is Everything Lisa! You actually look younger with the gray and it is you! I've always loved silver/gray hair and I will not dye mine when I start getting it.
Transitioning is different for everyone. I’m heading into my third year. Initially started with long hair, very dark and had blond highlights put in. Then eventually started cutting my hair shorter and shorter. In my third year my hair is grown out and is collar bone length and am loving my natural colour. It’s liberating and seeing so many more beautiful ladies joining the colour free bandwagon ❤️ Your silver looks amazing and really brings out your beautiful skin tone!
I think your hair looks nice. I am 50 yrs old and have been using henna to color my hair for about 6 yrs now. My hair is waist length sometimes I think (especially when I'm doing the whole henna process) uggh I should let the gray just do its thing but I'm still not ready but when I am I will just go for it and cut my hair so the transition is not so long and stark. I discovered a great way to deal with the demarcation issue as we grow our gray out - wigs! I bought one a few weeks ago and loved it so much that I went a bit crazy this weekend and bought 3 more in different shades and styles. They are synthetic but super realistic - nobody knows. Super comfortable too, and now everyday is a perfect hair day😀. People keep approaching me to ask who my stylist is and tell me they love my hair.
I have long black hair with grey/white roots, I’ve stopped dying my hair over 2 months ago, like you, the grey is very visible on the top of my head and sides, hardly any white on the back. I’m too chicken to cut it short and I certainly wouldn’t bleach it, as a matter of fact, I spoke to 3 hair colourists and they refused to bleach it even if only a few strands to blend in, they all gave me the same options, 1. Bleach It and cut or 2. Let it grow out naturally and keep trimming it and wear wigs until all of my hair is grey. It’s gonna take a long time so yeah, I went a purchased 4 lace front wigs.I’m very anxious for whole transition to be over with!

I love how you styled it short. My hair is exactly the same as yours at the front with + white streak on one side. Well done to your niece. My granddaughter grew her hair for 2 years + had it cut off when she was 10 + donated it to make a wig for child cancer sufferers. I was so proud of her she decided when she was 8 as her teacher did it + inspired her. Glad your looking well + doing your stuff! Well done you!
Your hair looks gorgeous. My hair started turning gray when I was a teenager and dyed the grays foe several years. My hair grows very fast had to do the root touch up twice a week. In 2012 I did the complete transition to gray and feel so free of the chemicals on my hair.

After coloring my hair for 41!!! years (I'm 70 now), I decided to grow my gray out, starting in December of 2017. It's only been four months, but now all my hair is natural and I get SO MANY compliments on it, that I should have done it sooner. You will be thrilled when it's all grown out and you can cut off the bleached portions - plus think of the money and time you will save by not coloring any longer. Good for you. It's a challenge to wait those months for the growth, but so worth it. Best wishes to you.
