The lack of sand in the overdrive is an indication of its high end quality, such as klon centaur, vemuram & grid slammer. This is what the analogman & waza mod aspired to, they are also favorites for me. Keeley impoverished all nobility in sand.
@@WestballFamilyTV Salute! I just realized one thing: the better the pedal sounds as a standalone overdrive, the worse it works as a boostered for an amplifier, and vice versa. The “worse” it sounds like a standalone overdrive, the better it copes with warming up the amplifier. Under the word "worse" (as an independent overdrive), I ask you to understand a squeaky tone, cutoff of the lower bass, high-pitched itching ... it is there that the castration of frequencies makes the biting sound acceptable to the amplifier. BOSS Blues Driver is a standalone overdrive with rich non-castrated tones))
I have owned a real Klon Centaur (I was the original owner of one built in 1999 for 16 years). I never loved the current cheap version of the SD1 or any Tube Screamers I've tried by comparison...however, The Waza Craft sounds great. It's very open in Custom mode and clear with great string separation, and it just plain sounds better than the vintage one in regular mode (where it lops off the low end is much more natural sounding in regular mode, and the mids and highs are voiced a little "prettier"). I feel the Keeley mod is trying to get into Klon territory with the Germanium Diode (And is very musical as a result), and that the Analog Man in Pull Mode feels a LOT like the Waza Craft (and probably inspired the custom setting of the Waza Craft with "Pull" mode). I think I'd rather have a close to accurate Klon clone over the Keeley (like my Mythical OD), but I'd have to shoot them out to be sure. That Germanium thing really only needs to be done with one gain stage in a stack. I'm also not certain the Analog Man or the Waza Craft are any worse or better than each other. Just voiced slightly different, so that would be rig dependent...however, I'm betting the Waza Craft is cheaper/more cost effective, so that's the one I would probably buy since they are very similar (though not the same). I just don't see any reason why I'd lust after the vintage ones at this point however.
Is the analogman SD1 worth buying / does it have too much bottom end? I am probably going to buy one but I figured I would ask. This is a phenomenal comparison btw. Thank you
great job! i favor the AM and the MIJ.... :)

Love the MiJ and the Keeley.
MiJ is great tone!!
Keeley too👍👍

All I can hear is the pignose coloured sound
You're right!!
Great pedal selection for a demo. Unfortunately you should use a better amp and I would suggest rolling back the tone knob to around 10-11
Waza sounded louder? Good though. Bit Pricey
I think I prefer the Keely 5star
TS-808 mod nice.
Analog.man is so nice!!👍

Sorry,,
Please English
Strings and Pignose dominate too much.
pignose is unpopular.
Next, I will play with another amp.
Thanks for comment👍
Is this demo really using a Pignose? That’s like test driving cars in sand.
I love Pignose amp!
Analog Man
why not ls Paul and over chords?
