if by "better" you mean more trebley and harsher...yes. Would have been nice to hear the difference in the Analogman 808 with 12 volt power

phantom japan sounds like squire Indonesian into crate solid state amp with blanket over it, that should get you close
analogman way creamier, had mine for years, wonderful overdrive
