Wonderfully said ID, I think everyone's honestly upset that he's stepping away but also accepting that he's moving onto better things for himself and going after new ambitions that I'm certain he'll find great success in. We'll all miss him, he's truly changed all of our lives for the better and we'll all be forever grateful! :')

Matpat has made my childhood so much better, if it wasn't for him and his theories I wouldn't be the same. I wouldn't love FNAF without him. I wouldn't try to figure out my favorite interests without him. He has been a major inspiration and he's changed my life for the better. His theories entertained, educated, and comforted me whenever i watched them. I watch his fnaf theories yearly at minimum because of how amazing each is in editing, jokes, and theories. Him leaving made me, someone with autism who never cries, genuinely shed a tear. Thank you matpat

While watching the video, it felt so surreal.
I don't think the shock fully hit me, and I kinda feel like it still hasn't hit me. I'm sad that we won't get to see many of his theories anymore, but at the same time, I'm glad he won't be overworking himself as much as he has been.
It's wild to think that he's gonna be retiring, because he was easily one of my favorite youtubers when I was younger, and one of the larger parts of my childhood. I hadn't watched many of his theories for a few years, and just a few months ago, I got back into FNAF, and binged all of his theories on it.
The fact that him leaving youtube is gaining this much coverage just proves how much of a Legend he is. I've never seen anyone on youtube with such a positive reputation before. Even people who don't watch him fully respect him. And that is an incredible thing to achieve.

I was 18 when he started with Game Theory uploads and even when he joined in general on the UA-cam platform. It's wild so many people grew up watching him when I just hit adulthood and was in my senior year of HS when GT started. (18 being technically an adult in the USA)
I watched some videos back then but didn't start watching it every upload till his very first FNAF theory video. After that, I went to watch older content I missed. I was hooked ever since.

Matpat stepping back from hosting game theory is like when Steve left blues clues. We’ll have a new host but we’ll never forget the original. I’ve been watching theorist content since I’ve had access to the internet, and I’m now roughly the same age that Matt was when theorists started. I’ve been watching him since the 7th video on the channel, and watched everything whether or not i played the games associated because the theories were always compelling and thought provoking.
Seeing all of the support for Matpat and others sharing their stories has made all of this easier. I’m looking forward to what Matt’s doing next.
I've been a fan of matpat for 10 years, and the goodbye video was so unexpected. He is one of the most wholesome and hardworking content creators on UA-cam, and inspired many people to create their own theories and projects including your amazing channel.

Matpat has been such a formative part of my life not just from talking about video games, but introducing so many science and math concepts to me at a young age. I remember in middle school having a film theory episode focusing around genetics, that I already seen be the basis of my class assignments, and it just blew my tiny mind. Although it makes me very sad I’m glad he’s going to have more time now to be with his own family like he was there for so many of us.

It definitely feels like with this new generation of FNAF there also comes the new generation theorists - with you and John and Tom, as well as all other FNAF theorists, I don’t have any concern for the future of theorising...it is just a pretty big change that I’m sure we’ll all struggle with.

It’s weird to think about how long he ran the channel, and how many of his theories we’d all sit down and enjoy.

When I heard your voice starting to break, it broke me, it made me realise that other people around the world are feeling what I'm feeling. A feeling of sadness and happiness whilst looking back on the things he did for us and how he shaped us. I am so incredibly happy that he helped millions of people feel safe and welcomed into the theorist community.

Seeing something like this pop up in my subscription feed is one of the most heartwarming things I could hope to see. It just goes to show how much of an impact matpat had not just for the FNAF community, but for all of UA-cam. I suspect I'll be seeing more of this in the coming days and maybe even weeks. Just to see the love and support everyone is giving him is enough to make me tear up every time. I'm sure going forward, every one of these videos I see, and the comments I read afterward will continue to make me tear up and cry.

This was the only "Goodbye Video" I actually cried at, I saw a lot of people go, but Mat was one of my favorite UA-camrs and was pretty much my childhood. He was/still is for a while very passionate and you can see that this channel is very important to let go. Its both hard to let go not only for him but the theorists too. Matpat will still be one of the best Narrators of all time.
He is literally how I found you Fuhnaff, Ryetoast and ImpulseEvan, he has been part of my life since 3rd grade, The Portal Cube video was my 1st Game Theory and now....its gonna be weird going on this journey without him, he has carried a large part of the fnaf and UA-cam communities, this is just so painful, but im happy for him.
He will be missed, but we have to respect his decision. I shed a couple of tears watching his video and I know I'm not alone. o7

I’ll be honest, I haven’t watched Matpat in a while but I did occasionally watch some of his videos and theories. Certain things he theorized about were really interesting to me, and I always had the videos on when I was doing schoolwork or working in general. Definitely wish him and his family the best.
I can’t believe I was a sophomore or junior in high school when he started, and I probably started watching around that time too. Those videos got me through a lot of shit. SAT/ACT, AP exams, college apps, depression before I could get medication, and, by the time his final theory drops, he’ll have gotten me through the first anniversary of my dad’s death and the 2nd anniversary of my mom’s death. I’m an oldest child so I don’t know the receiving end, but it kinda feels like an older sibling pushing you out into the world knowing you’re ready, maybe even before you yourself know you’re ready. I don’t think I’d ever be able to thank him for all that he’s helped me through, even if it doesn’t seem like a lot to most people
I remember falling in love with matpat’s channel. I was around high school I was going to my first ever convention and I was looking for something entertaining for the flight when I found his game theory channel. He only had 2 maybe 3 theories out at the time. Been watching him ever since. I’m sad I may not ever meet him in person one day but I’m glad he’s doing what he’s doing. UA-cam looks hard to maintain and going as hard as he is for years is tough and impressive. It won’t be the same without him but I get it. Not being able to enjoy games or films without analyzing it for an episode must be frustrating. We’ll miss you matpat.

Cried watching his video and cried in this one too. Every time I see something about it I cry actually. Tried talking about it with a friend and got choked up. Literally never been this heartbroken over a UA-camr stepping away/retiring before. I think I started watching him 6-8 months after his channel started so I was in my first year of high school. Crazy to think that was over a decade ago 😭 He’s one of my favourite people and not hearing his voice every video is going to suck. But I believe in Tom, Amy, Santi, and Lee to do great with their respective channels. I have really loved getting to know them and can’t wait to know them even better through this 🩷

I never thought that MatPat would make me cry, but he did. Like you, I grew up with MatPat and his theories and still enjoy his content to this day! In all honesty, I came to his theories more for him than I did the theories themselves. UA-cam won't be the same without him! But at the very least. We have still have Theorists like YOU ID, and Rye Toast, Fuhnaff, and many others to help carry on the theorist legacy!

Losing Matpat is such a big blow. I know he'll still be around behind the scenes, but the announcement just does feel like the end of an era.
I relate sooo much with how you found him. Watching game theory or film theory was one of the only ways my sibilings and I could bond when we were young and his channels stuck with me ever since. Ill miss it, but Matpat deserves his rest ❤

Matpat was the one who brought a lot of people together whether it's FNAF or other types of content and that's awesome. A true icon especially for his theories (and I gues the memes too). Great video about your journey and I hope to see more of it going forward
My introduction to Matthew’s channel was in middle school. There was a kid, I think his name was Sam, who watched his FNAF theories on his phone, and because I didn’t have a phone, I watched them with him to pass time.
MatPat’s theories were so entertaining, educational, and thought provoking. I watched his gtlive videos on sister location and DDLC, laughing and hiding under my blanket whenever it was too scary for me lol.
He inspired me to make my channel, do my own thing just like him, because his passion for his videos made me believe that anyone could do what he did.
Game Theory influenced a generation to think critically about video games. I’m glad Tom is doing game theory now to hopefully inspire more people like me to keep thinking about games.
Thank you for making this video, and all of your videos, it feels like a fruit of Matthew’s influence passing on to the next generation of fnaf theorist.
Hopefully his legacy will live on through his channels successors and people like us, inspired through him, for years to come.

I really liked the way you put it. I really respect that he is spending more time with his family and I am so exited for HIM to be the one making the lore (especially lore-fi) however it is a bit saddening. So I'm both exited and sad for this new page in the book. Matpat never ruined any childhoods. But I think he made a lot of ours.
Seeing Matpat lend weight to the ideas of a fellow community member and not hesitating to uplift them despite them not agreeing with his ideas or even taking the piss out of him with certain playful remarks just shows how much of a team player he is, how much a positive example for the community he is. I am very glad he exposed me to you, and I appreciate this heartfelt video.

I came across him when I was really young and at multiple points in his goodbye video i had to pause it so i could hear what he actually was saying over my tears 😭 I found out about fnaf through him and he has always been my favorite yt since i first saw his vids i ended up accidently waking up to a fnaf video by him thats how i found him he made me much more curious,smart and tbh much less lazy and way more Motivated to follow my passions so hey thanks for that Mat You never ruined my childhood you just shaped it into a greater thing i couldve ever made on my own. My mind is now an amalgamation of morty,neon green text,golden freddy thumbnails,animatronic toe counts , a very old png and a physic freind fredbear who watches my every move to this day😂

You made such boring and flat subjects into some of the best and most wholesome things on the Internet. I know that all your new projects are going to do fantastic! You also taught me something very important. When we moved houses and I moved to a new school I was horribly bullied to the point where I was followed home by people I had only met once. But what kept me going was watching and rewatching all your theories especially fnaf ones! You taught one of the most valuable lessons I could ever learn, you taught me to love myself no matter what others say or think or do and that no matter what I should never hide who i am. I am a theorist. A theorist who has been greatly helped by MatPat and Steph and ALL the theorists from the channel. So thank you, ALL of you.

This makes me so sad but I’m happy for them, I was literally saying like two years ago that we were about to have a mass migration of UA-camrs retiring/ slowing down I just didn’t know how much it would effect me 😭😭
i was around people when he uploaded that video and i had to get up and go to my room and just bawl my eyes it's going to be hard for me to go back to these channels for awhile as it is kinda hard me too accept change but it makes sense of why he's doing this but hope life the internet will miss him

It’s amazing ID because you making that patient 46 vid jumping straight into the deep end with fnaf content not knowing what would happen, I have to give a lot of respect but as I’ve stated in comments before, you deserve to be where you are and it’s great to see you praising Mat for giving you that boost for where you are right now. And getting over 100,000 views on you’re first vid as well, not a lot of people in this day and age can do that.

I watched your vids here and there but had no idea you were this impacted by matpat, the voice cracks you have at end almost caught me by surprised because of how eloquently you speak normally
I can't begin to imagine what it'll be like once he's gone from the channel that got me so invested in so many video games before I even played them. I'll miss him for sure. His style of delivering theories is incredibly fun and won't be forgotten.

It’s bittersweet tbh It’s sad I understand why he wants to retire and I’m hopeful for the future of team theorist and glad he’s passing the torch. Heck without matpat my love for fnaf wouldn’t have sparked as much as I was when I was younger and heck even when that died down when mar covered fuhnaffs theory’s and I started looking at other theorist content it resparked my love for fnaf that started with mat
So ima symbolic way mat brought me into fnaf and theories and ultimately brought me to new voices in the space leading to me adoring other theorist like Id here or John on fuhnaff. And now he’s sending off idk if I’m articulating all my feelings and stuff properly I just want to express how much matpat means to me and how being shown team theorist or other theorist channels like fuhnaff or id and the contributions to the fnaf community that mat brought just means a lot to me
His video actually got a couple of tears out of me, and i’m not usually known to cry, but this one got me. Been watching MatPat since i was 12, and i’m now 22. Thank you MatPat for being my childhood
