I was at that game. I went through the wrong turn style and ended up among the City supporters, standing there in my red and white scarf. I guess they thought I wasn't a full shilling, and just laughed as I shouted for the Reds. I got bumped against a wall after I came out of the ground though, by about 30 Blues, but no damage done. Happy days.
I had a similar experience back in prob 1975, but in another country, another sport. Was the only One wearing yellow and black on the blue-red-yellow stand. They kept pulling my hat down over my eyes until I got fed up and left. More humourous, those days!

Best had great vision and was extremely creative with his passing. He's generally thought of as a dribbler but that was more when he was a raw and very talented kid. Best the man was a playmaker more than a dribbler.
Best distribution was really excellent!!!!!....his passes were superb!!!!..

Always love the way the defender holds his shirt to keep him off the ball and it leaves it wide open for Mcilroy to latch onto it.

His touch wasn’t quite there even at this point in his career.....lack of training and out on the town drinking takes it’s toll. A lack of sharpness in his game.....From 65 to 70 he was phenomenal, blessed to see him play live many times.

Tony marshal, i was thincking that myself tony about best. He just seemend to be going through the motions, wich is a sign your not interested or you havent got the skill you had maybe a year ago. And here with best a thinck its a bit of both! I have never saw best give away so many bad passes and struggle to beat a player as in this game! Yes the the late night drincking and partys are clearly catching up with best, as its so obvious here. And he was still only age 25 here. What a waste. But what a player. He was the greatest player in the world from 1965 to 1971 easy! But it should have been from 1965 to 1981. There was so much more to give and we didnt get it all. And neither did george. Rip george
@@alanmctavish4802 My best mate Gary Locke of Chelsea played against Best , I was there to see it at Stamford Bridge...George was 26 and Gary 19 playing right back, he was marking George directly.....He told me after the game that George has lost that explosive yard of pace and is now much easier to play against.
@@tonymarshall4164there's another video of mainly 66-68 and you can just tell he's lost that yard. Doesn't carry the ball as much, looks up for the pass more instead. Crazy that he's only 25 here considering that

@@patagualianmostly7437 Messi is objectively leaps and bounds ahead of George best. i have no idea why people even think best can be considered better. All the science, biology, stats and footage show Messi has done things consistently that no other player has done.

Fran collins, franny lee just about dived in every game he played in. But tbh he was actually great at it, he was just a little cheating rat. I never rated him never, he was to easy to read, i would just take the ball of him so easy, thats why he had to dive so much. He was the best diver in the box i have ever seen. He would time his dive when some daft clown defender was stupid enough to slide in wich you dont do, so lee would dive at the perfect time and win a penalty becouse he would wait till the other player had slid in and then made contact with lee who would then do his perfect dive and have the cheek to roll around in agony to waist time. He did exactly that to man utd exactly a year before this game in the leauge cup in the last 2 minutes and at the end of the match wich city won becouse lee got a late penalty. George in total disgust and in a pure rage with the referee and lee then punshend the ball in anger out of referee jack taylors hands and george was suspended for 8 weeks for that. Then came back in brilliant style in febuary 1970 and scored six great goals his sixth goal is the best one as he dummys the keeper then walks it into the net. Those goals used to get shown alot when george was on a tv show! You can see a big difference in his play from then and this game here and its only a year apart? Really sad how quick he lost that magic touch, but so great to have seen him at his best! What a player! Goat

In the first half he was losing almost all of his duels & generally was more passive than you expect of him. I wouldn’t be too surprised to find out that he was hangover to be honest.

Tavy@ i had to laugh when man utd got a free kick and charlton put the ball down to take it then best came up and passesd it wide to morgan as if to say ffs bobby hurry up and use your eyes and brain. That was a sign of bobby getting old. Best didnt need to thinck to even take that free kick as quick as that. Rip george

Not one of Best better display's. He seemed slightly sluggish in this game. Some nice inspired passes here & there, showing his superb ambidextrous technique.

Tavy@ when best makes a bad pass its not a bad pass its the worse kind i have seen. Even schook boys dont make bad passes like best did here. It was almost as if he was being paid to do give the ball to a man city player it was that bad. He must not look up or maybe he thincks hes to good to look up. But it is true he struggled like hell against the arsenals, leeds, liverpool, everton, chelsea, man city, he never had a good game against leeds or liverpool, the players just took the ball of him so easy. And when he got the ball he had to pass it quick or lose it. This game here is the start of hes down fall. In the first half a thought he was drunck. But he only got a bit better in the second half. Not that much. He couldnt create anything by this time or beat players and keep posetion. His body couldnt do what his brain was telling him. So he would take to long with the ball becouse he didnt know what to do and would end up losing it. And yes drinck played a big part in it. When a player like best loses that extra yard it makes a huge difference. A huge difference! R.i.p george and thancks
