Not only is Momentum your friend in soft dry sand but another very good piece of advice I got in my heavier 4WD vehicle days (2001 PA Challenger) was the best ever that came in real handy in October of 2013 whilst on the Manta Ray Barge to Fraser was "Drive it like ya' stole it!" That October was one of the driest early springs ever in SE QLD and that advice was a bog saver. Especially on the tracks from Eurong through to Central Station. There is one critical error nearly every man and his new dog does at Inskip Point when departing the Manta Ray and that is to stop directly behind the vehicle in front as that boggs down. Just drive around it and do NOT stop at any cost. You'll only get bogged yourself once you lose momentum and drive it like you didn't steal it.
Great job guys! I think the foz has good clearance for what it is. Better than it’s competitors (except jeep). I love my 2017 Foz. Looks just like yours but green. I put a set of Yokohama Geolander GO15 AT’s and it’s a beast in the snow! Cheers! 😊
Wasn’t in X mode just the PCS off as well as traction control off. Traction control in sand basically gets you stuck and glazes over your brakes so not a good idea to have it on 👍
@@perth4b4adventures cheers for the info, I have only just recently purchased a 2018 forester and seeing it handle that sand I was very surprised, I'm thinking it has a bit more capabilities than I think it has.
Absolutely it does you would be surprised with their capabilities. We have had a few on our tag alongs including our D’Entrecastaux trip and it did Callcup Hill 👍
@@perth4b4adventures so Paul why didn’t you engage x-mode? I’m thinking of buying a 2013 diesel manual Subi forester (these don’t have x-mode). Do you think for sand driving a manual with no x-mode would be better or worse than the auto on the sand?
It didn’t need to be in X mode bud the vehicle performed perfectly fine without it. We also have a 2013 model that performs just as well without it. I know heaps of older models that go awesome offroad without it.
Subarus are one of the hated care around cos it has cvt. Why hate cvt if surabu has it. It is different from the other car. Use to own late 2018 forest and i dont jave any issue at all. Symmetrical aal wheel drive system of subi is second to none i should say. Been in lancelin 2 years ago with my forester, does well too. Also doing beach drivin. And by the way i did not change tyres only using what it comes from the dealership. Subi forester is one of the most capable car on its class Have you ever try subaru before you hate it?
my wife's the same way, no matter what goes wrong, it's my fault, I have to fix it. This information should have been included in the "Men, what to know before you get married" pamphlet the priest gives to potential grooms.
The Pajero sport is a proper 4wd with a central locking diff and will sit higher off the ground than the Forrester. Our Forrester is stock standard as it was driven off the lot so no lift and standard road tyres. They are two very different vehicles 👍
the Subaru did very well Gary, some of that sand was soft, well done guys
Bloody good day. Some unsurprisingly soft spots out there but Subi did all that was asked of it and to finish with pub lunch was perfect.
Im impressed with the capability of the subí
Have Forester, will travel.
Awesome beach too 😎👍👍
Yeah it’s pretty cool 😎

Yep, very very true 👍
Un poco mas de Subaru!

I better no let the wife read that or she will want a set 🤣🤣
Cheers bud appreciate it 👍
Thats the best Forester model, and best colour. Im in the UK, all heavy hybrid nonsense now with the new model :(
The wife definitely agrees ❤️
Subs did very well mate. Wow I wasn't expecting a triton, but Im sure gary will love it. Cheers Steve
It did mate and I didn’t get into trouble at all 😂😂
Awesome. Just got a forester and I’m worried about the cvt but I guess it’s fine
They are a great little vehicle 👍
Looks like a lot of fun guys!
Was a good day out 👍
How much did you air down the Subaru? Which pressure did you left on the wheels for that trip in the sand?
Went down to 18psi. Given they are standard road tyres there isn’t much sidewall so I wouldn’t go any lower.
Paul could you compare pajero sport 4wd to your wife’s forester awd
is it lifted?
what is this place ? I have Kluger AWB with AT Tyres, looking for a list where I can explore without getting into trouble.
Lancelin offroad area north of Perth.
@ : I have been there, but since I just got into off-roading with AWD, I never went that far.
What type of compressor do you recommend to re-inflate the tires?
I just use the Kings Thumper it’s affordable and reliable. Most of that style are pretty much the same compressor just a different brand 👍
@@perth4b4adventures great, thank you!
Subaru 🖤🖤
Are you in x mode what tires do you have
No not in X mode and standard road tyres.
Was the Subaru in x mode? Or just the traction control off.. Cheers

What PSI did you air down the Subie to.
18psi bud 👍 can’t really go much lower with stock road tyres.
@@perth4b4adventures Thank you 👍. I have a 2020 Forester Sport, on the Baja Mexico. It’s way more capable that I thought.
@davehaddad3229 yeah they are a great little vehicle 👍
Will have to bring the Adventra down
It’s a fun place 👍

Hi Dennis, I’m not sure who you are directing your last sentence too but this is my wife’s 3rd Subaru and she loves it. They are a great little car.

Where is this?
I said it in the intro bud 1:43, Lancelin 👍

One and only warning.
Oil temp? 120+?
