Hi Andy, was hoping to send you a RadioMaster TX16s if your interested in taking a look. Not been able to get in touch though. All the best!
Hi Andy thx for your review, little tip I did find is... When I removed batteries and plugged charger in usb-c it powered the device... Soo it can run off powerbank. May help some folk. Thx as always.. ps love ya humour on LDO.
Thanks for the no BS review! Hopefully, the V2 (if there is one) will be better.
Awesome flying, Andy!!! 😃
Great and honest review as always! 😊
I wondered what that wobble was.
I got some 3amp 18500’s for mine.
Velcro mounted it to the back of a dock king. Used short lead to power dock king and get input. As the dock king has 2 outputs the other goes to my goggles. I’m using it as a tripod ground station for better recording when flying.
Nice review with more details... Thx
Hi Andy, Thanks for the video. Happy Flying!!!
hello Andy, thank's for the video! one thing: and if you dont utilise the power out, and the batteries are only for the dvr (ok is a gamebracker but?), but you put a battery for your hdo in your pocket (i dont like to have the battery on my head..but is me..) the battery used like this shure the time for the batterys are better no? ok is woobleling, but the image is better! (but the price is to hight..)
Late to post I know, but the reason footage from the PowerPLAY jumps up/down is because trying to display interlaced footage on a progressive display is not an easy thing to do at all. The PowerPLAY does this by simply separating the fields and putting them in sequence, and the OSD doesn't jump because its 'pixels' are 2 pixels high on the display so looks the same on each field.
It's difficult to convey what interlacing is with just words, see the video "The Interlaced Video Problem - Computerphile" to try and understand it better.
Going digital for our FPV is a great way to get away from the mess of interlaced video, especially in the DVR department.
Great info thx :-)
brilliant video Andy .. looks like a nice bit of kit , might get myself one.
Try the DJI goggle DVR. It destroys the power play. But use an NTSC camera because it doesn't work with PAL.
so much for "destroying".
@@Heiple2007 over twice the bitrate and doesn't cost $90.... 🤷♂️
How’s it compare with sky03O dvr ?
Hello!
Nice to watch, as always, your materials
Regards!
Hey Andy have you download the firmware now?
Helo Andy, you know soo much, about this nice Hobby..i wish i know only a quarter..Thank you for (always) great revieuws ! :)
Definitely interest to see if the software cures the pal jitters!
Hi Andy, I got myself one last year and loving it, I don't get that wobble you mentioned, but I'm using Skyzone goggles, I know you have some so try them and see if it makes any difference, or maybe you have been unlucky and got a faulty one. As for the battery issues your so right Andy runs out bleeding fast, so don't blink, what I do is just use the AV cable and power my goggles as normal, and then the 18500s last along time (over 20 flights) I also spent some time trying to figure out how to delete files without removing the SD card, I hope that is sorted in the update. But as for the Audio (very poor quality ) so I never use it. Great rip around at the end matey, love to see the tree dive in your flight.
tried em with all the skyzones , aomways, fatshark. all same issue
Strange, I will have to test mine out because may be I just didn't notes it. will let you know
@@AndyRCchannel Just been out for a quick flight (bloody cold) sorry Andy looks like you may of got a faulty one because I cant see any wobbles, there again I'm getting old and the eyes are not what they use to be lol Would you like us to send you a short 15 second clip Just encase you decide to send it back ? (unless it was a free bee )
Thanks for another highly detailed review Andy. I didn't know that shaking was only in Pal. Hopefully the update sovles that issue. I also hope the price drops on this thing! I really want that 60fps DVR and file naming with the date.
I agree. Cheers
@@AndyRCchannel cheers man!
Awesome flying bro ✌️👍👌🙏💪
very nice
I knew you wouldn't pull any punches in this review. Good job.
😎👍
Fatshark's new HD module coming in a month or two.. I think it'll have a HD recorder on it.. also new VTX's and full Digital camera link..
that Hach-D always get me with you euro guys.
dont worry.. not including the letter the way you say it makes us laugh also, considering we invented the language ;)
@@AndyRCchannel what you mean not including the letter? you guys just got more emphasis on the sounding of the H. or you mean some say its like -ach HD...instead of H-ach D.
Not everyone can afford high-end goggles, especially the new craze of digital, so, I think that a lesser dollar involved individual that wishes to have a recording from their flight, that this $90.00 (U.S. currently) item looks pretty god damn good myself. Thanks Andy. Jeff
Great review. I'm happy with mine. But I did get it half priced and I'm running ntsc cameras. It's much better than the goggles dvr. And is easier to use as a lost kwad finder and to share footage. What settings do you use to export your edits for UA-cam? Thanks AndyRC, happy flying.
Nice review. thnx !
Awesome review Andy! It’s definitely a significant improvement over the FatShark DVR. The price is a bit high to add to an aging technology. If only Fatshark had offered an improved DVR in the first place. ☹️
Take rapidfire out of mode 1 and give it a try. Not sure why but it seems to cause issues in 1 with the picture jumping.
That's a different issue. As mentioned I tried multiple goggles, modules and models and nothing fixed it with pal cams. Also the rapid fire issue in mode 1 moves the entire picture including the osd
Definitely seems an unfinished product. Great review as always tho andy 👍
Can the screen be turned off while it is recording? It seems that a power hungry screen would shorten battery life considerably.
no that would have been a great option in the settings
@@AndyRCchannel Thanks Andy. That's a shame, I would really like a good external dvr due to the terrible dvr available in Fatshark goggles.
Question for anyone who wants to answer.. Can I put a double battery connector from an emax tinyhawk freestyle on a tyro69 instead of using the xt30 that the tyro69 comes with. I realize the xt30 is better, but I have so many 1s batteries and I dont want to buy a bunch of new ones.. I plan on using 2 1s 550mah 80/160C batteries. Will it work/fly ok?? Any help would be appreciated.
you might be able to however the PH2 connectors are only rated for 2 amps where is an xt30 is rated for 30 amps so you may have some bottlenecking
Great review... as usual. I appreciate ya.
i agree abut the price, its too much and a real shame and i cant affr t spend tat sort of money on a DVR :(
I hadn't noticed the wobble and would have seen it fairly quickly if i owned one myself but after you mentioned it and i was looking for it, i could see it in flight and produces an affect in dlight that feels different to when its on the ground.
in flight it looks like the video is having micro stutters and then catching back up.
I have a PowerPlay which I use with my Aomway goggles. I did have to modify the cable due to the video out bring on the opposite side. The included batteries like you say are utter rubbish (I doubt they really are 1400mah TBH). I have 2 sets of the 2000mah batteries and they are so much better. The difference in DVR recording quality is huge. I had not noticed the PAL issue and would be very interested in any follow up videos you make.
Cool. I prefer ntsc for the frame rate. Nice vid like always
Nice side by side. The Powerplay looks more detailed, and not oversharpened, as some DVR tend to do. Hope the PAL issue gets sorted out. I'm still looking for a better DVR to replace my Eachine 5800D, but so far haven't had any luck. The LS800D has better image with DVD resolution, but drops frames, no matter what card I use. I tried the Eachine DVR watch, and both have loads of artifacts in the recordings, so also unusable. The EV800D DVR doesn't drop frames, but isn't as sharp as the LS800D, plus the files it records are much bigger than the 5800D and the LS800D, even though still being just 640x480, and less image quality than the LS800D. Speaking of filesize, how much MB does it need for a minute of DVR video on the Powerplay? It's nice that it supports 64GB where most DVR only accept 32, but if the filesizes are very big, it eats through the storage pretty quickly.
Just over 100 Mb a minute
@@AndyRCchannel That's pretty good, considering it's 60fps. The 5800D uses about 50mb a minute with NTSC, and a bit less on PAL.
Nice review, I have the power play and like what you say. If you're looking for to replace you Gopro with this forget it however it does give you a better Quality than the DVR in the FS goggles. I have replaced the batteries for 18500 Battery Li-Ion 3.7V 2000mAh and as I am not powering the goggles hoping this should give me a better record time. I still have the power play on my head strap but on the opposite side to the battery and have made a coiled video fly lead only that follows the strap around the head to connect to the goggles. I set it to manual record but this can get confusing when fumbling around on your head to get it to record, so now have it se to auto so I know when I power the power play its recording and just power it off when I finish. The screen is ok for someone to see you flying however I do find it strange when someone is looking at the side of your head and if the sun hits the screen they then have to cup their hands over the screen to see, form someone's perspective looking at all this is very strange. Though you are not going to get gopro quality you are going to get some reasonable video from a whoop or a race Quad that you want to keep the weight down or have no way other to record as well as any OSD displays you wish to record. I would love it if ImmersionRC put the release firmware on the site and more information to the beta release, this would give someone the informed choice to try the beta and if not happy go back to the release firmware.
The only reason I use the DVR footage is to find where the model has crashed. This is a great product if you want the best quality of your FPV feed. For me, it's hard to justify. And those funky 18500 batteries are hard to get as well. I'll stuck with my rubbish onboard DVR for now. You just can't get all the nice things, I guess.
what do you think Google is better to buy?
Eachine EV100 either
Eachine EV800DM
ev800dm for me as screen too small on ev100
@@AndyRCchannel THX 🚀
Fatshark need to wake up. They could do so much better product if they only listened to us. Going dji to race analog with them and use hd for freestyle rig. Don't see Shark byte being out and tested anytime soon. Good video Andy!
For racing and whooping this is nice to get some better quality dvr... but the disadvantage of those stupid batteries is a big oversight. why oh why didnt they just put an xt60 on the box so i could just use any old lipo up to 6s shoved into my pocket?
I think there is a case you can 3d print that does away with the battery and you can add a connector.
@@AndyRCchannel so there is www.thingiverse.com/thing:4077439 replace the jst with an xt60 add a voltage reg and you have the product this should have been!
@@willannison1300 thats the one. Its a lot of cash to drop though to mod it like that.
bought mine laqst Fall..used a few times and absolutely LOVE IT ! and then ...dadadada ..along came DHI ! the rest of the story … ya ….when people complain about $ I am really confused. we spend insame $$ on this crazy hobby if you talk about $$ you should just commit yourself. if I .one one kwad ($500) this becomes extremely inexpensive. If I want great video ill fly the DJI Stuff. ZThis is an amazing product for a fair price. Sorry that's my opinion !
Hi Andy, me I have FXT Analogue DVR 720*576 60fps 2.4Ghz WiFi and I prefer better tosee with your phone not small screen.
nice vid ,but it looks like a device of 2017
Also want to thank you for helping me in to this hobby with your videos I am a subscriber and I watched almost all of your videos. I learned how to fly watching your videos, how to configure jumper t8sg, I downloaded the tinyhawk freestyle cli and its working awesome. I invite you to watch my videos. Happy Flying!!!
Throw away the batteries that come with it, Tony Cake admitted in the immersionrc group that these crap cells slipped through their QA. Somebody sold them a load of old cells. They will ship the powerplays without batteries in future for a lower price.
I did. I bought the 2040 and still only get just under an hour. if they fix the pal issue then ill do the mods
@@AndyRCchannel Weird, i let it sit on the desk with rapidfire on and goggles started beeping at 1:35 and shut down around 1:55. I'm using panasonic cells.
oh wow that's terrible. it looks like jello and hardwobble at the same time. what in the world?!
its all the same to me..dji beats them all.lol
Appreciate all the effort on your part Andy but analogue video is absolute garbage, it looks terrible ☹️, sorry mate. So the pp just captures more shockingly bad frames.
