Input Lag Capping FPS (In Game, Driver, Riva)
Вставка

- Alot of online games/game engines suffer from low 1% and 0.1%, even on good tuned hardware.
Capping with rivatuner to a framerate you can maintain fixes this in some game engines.
Other FPS capping methods do not fix the low 1% and 0.1%s.
Here is a video for my viewer, some piece of mind that capping fps with rivatuner isn't the end of the world for a benefit of higher 1% lows.
The test was done in a controlled environment with 100 click averages.
NOW everyone keep in mind, do your own tests. I've provided a riva/msi afterburber config in the last video. Some game engines wont benefit from this. Some do.
If you are still struggling from bad 1% lows tuning your ram timings and cpu can help quite alot. Just also note some game engines are just buggy and poorly optimized.
Hope this helps.

What a legendary tip this capping frames via riva was! Those gains on 1% n 0.1% are no joke, hundreds of dollars worth of gain imo.
It’s a good day whenever you upload
Very excited to see your new video on cloning and full screen projecting latency with dual pc, being a dual pc user myself, I found your first video super interesting.
mate its bad, im never using a capture card again
will do the video soon!
@@FR33THY CAN'T WAIT!
@@BillehOFFICIAL just made it
A few years ago I remember a channel on UA-cam testing all this, and vsync vs fressync and vsync input lag etc. Nice to see some more confirmation. The channel was battlenonsense
Something worth noticing Valorant uncapped in range is almost 1 ms from capped due to having 1000 fps, in real game scenario is almost same input lag. Great Video Chris❤.
Riva's frame pacing is godlike if you know where to cap frames per your PC's performance. A shame most games' built in fps limiter is pants on AMD gpu's for some reason.
Pumping out the yt vids! love it, keep it up!
"Alot of online games/game engines suffer from low 1% and 0.1%, even on good tuned hardware." - one of them being CS:GO, the king of stuttering. Ever since I locked my FPS on 300fps, the stuttering is just a bad memory. Yeah, it's cool to see the engine reporting ridiculous FPS values like 600-700 but those will give you headaches in the long run.
Although Chris did an amazing video explaining the process, I must credit Battle(non)sense for my success.
Did you cap 300 ingame or with rivatuner?
Long live the legend nonsense
Would also like to know
Also is rivatuner vac bannable?
Are we in trouble with running it on community servers?
@@TheMirzaProduction No, rivatuner is not bannable but you need to put " -allow_third_party_software" in your launch options in order to allow both the FPS cap and overlay to take effect. And no, using " -allow_third_party_software" did not affect my trust factor.
@@ching8733 with Rivatuner.
Thanks again for your effort, it sure helped and a lot as always in your tutorial videos. Congratulations.💯
Is the added 1.3 ms latency when capping in RTSS simply due to the fact that uncapped your running ~1000FPS vs 300FPS?
I have been using RTSS for some time to cap my frames in competitive FPS games like Halo Infinite, and it makes the game feel way smoother. I noticed my 1% and .1% lows were much higher. Thanks for the video.
I would assume it is, since capping the fps to 300 in engine gives almost the same latency as rtss.
loving these vids
Nothing but useful information always. It’s why you’re the best in the game
I think it entirely depends on the game engine to use rivatuner or not. On some games setting a cap via riva shows some apparent input lag
Great Work! Have you tested amd radeon Chill and setting the max and min fps target to 300. Gives me the best 1% and 0,1% lows, even over riva. But am curious about if it adds any input lag, more than riva..?
I have when I had my 6900xt, went down a rabbit hole with some stuff. The input lag is horrible capping with amd drivers either fps or chill. I believe this was covered in an older video somewhere. I'd advice you to just use riva honestly.
@@FR33THY Thanks for the answer. Sadly I play CSGO with faceit and their anti cheat blocks riva…
Could it be just the way rivatuner reports FPS or do you actually feel 1% and 0.1% lows to be smoother beyond placebo compared to capping it in-game?
Any chance you could take a look at SpecialK's frame limiter implementation? I've been hearing a lot of good things about it.
I'm very layman I don't understand any of this guys, which one is better?
I need some explanation too
when you are cpu bound no fps cap always as the best latency but in the case if you are gpu bound things should be different fps cap should have less latency if it keeps the gpu under 90%
So no rivia tuner display for lesser input delay right? and arent you suppose to cap the fps 4 fps lower den monitor refresh rate... what in game grapic settings cause most input delay(shadows and lighting) from your experience?
It work's in Battlefield 2042 more shots seem to register, Thanks FR33THY👍
Beast
In-game limiters are usually best for reducing input lag but don't give v stable frame times, RTSS are usually best for getting rly stable frame times but at the cost of frame times in most cases.
I think the fps cap within the NV Ctrl Panel has somehow been ableto give you the best of both worlds with stable frametimes compared to RTSS and comparable input delay, ableit slightly worse, input delay than ingame caps.
I think capping the fps in nvidia ctrl panel to 300 is probs best way to go?
Capping dont seem to work in csgo, but works in other games (ow2, destiny).
Any fix for this?
need to have "-allow_third_party_software" in launch options. I didnt have any benefits of this in csgo, ingame cap is actually good in csgo it seems.
next video LDAT test 👀😂
bro that's pretty insane improvement for RTSS but this fly on back of my head telling me LDAT might show the real difference 😂 paranoia is sucks
Super helpful
so rivatuner > nvcp driver cap?
the goat
i did the tests on different scenarios in valornt and 1% lows are more stable at like 400 but 0.1% are around 90-110. why is that? i don't even know if it's worth keeping the framecap in my case.
might be time to tune the rig a bit mate
or could be your windows
tuning ram would probably help the most
My man
Fr33thy can you do an optimization guide + improving 1% and 0.1% lows on Pubg battlegrounds? It’ll be quite a challenge giving how poorly optimized the game is. Thanks for your great efforts.
Really? It used to run really well for me, and I had a trash PC at the time.
he just did a whole video about it how you can do it 1 video ago
@@Watskeburt Caping doesn’t help in pubg, at least in my case
So higher %is better latency?
not really, but smooth motion
What if I have a 360hz monitor?
Can you test this out on Apex Legends? I'm struggling to tell which has more input lag, the launch option +fps_max 144 or the cap via riva. I'm a 6700xt user.
Did u fix your input lag ?
Also, how do you get rtss to work with valorant? It doesn't show the osd menu at the top neither does it cap the fps i want it to.
PC 🧙♂️
How can I put those latency check options on screen? or are they only possible with that specific monitor?
try Frame View , there's an option PCL , Pc Latency
whats the point doing all these optimizations when most people, who you play against, are having stock OS, outdated drivers, no optimizations , frames ranging from 1-999 etc.
in your POV they lag/teleport/stutter/kill you in impossible ways
in their POV you run smooth as butter, easy to kill.
its nice to have a responsive system and as close to 0 latency, but....
Probably caused by bad electricity or emi
the biggest difference is netcode depending on the game for one call of duty has absolutely shit net code, valorant is fine tho
has ow 2 the problem?
Awesome work Fr33thy. Does anyone know if it will help in cs go with directx 9 on a very old engine ? I usually get around 600+ frames but it drops eventually depending on the situation.
Gsync vs ungsync input lag please
Valeu!
Of course you get much less latency with 1000 fps. Maybe decrease gpu power until it's around 300 for a real test
many people waiting for Fr33thy video to copy feom him 😂😂
why did u delete ur file from drive the 2021
Riva doesn’t work on AMD right?
It works i have 7900xtx
1000 fps😂
U forgot to mention about the insane coil whine from the GPU. How about that? FPS needs to be capped here at 300 otherwise at 1000fps the coil whine is insanely loud. I guess u forget to mention this part of the test.
Lol yes coil whine is like music to my ears
Whooo da fook is that guy
LOL
how much fps do we see in real life O.O
What about capping fps through the steam launcher?
That’s the same as capping it in game you’re just writing the command to be launched when the game is booted
im able to use gsync and vsync with rivatuner capped fps to 260?
depends on your monitor but you can use it without problems if you are in gsync range and cap 3 under monitor refresh rate
i have 1440p270Hz Monitor and I use G-Sync + V-Sync and 267 FPS Cap in RTSS
@@madrinko1517 i have the asus 280hz 24.5 IPS
@@madrinko1517 ok, nice thank you.
@@madrinko1517 wait what does gsync + vsync cap your fps to on your monitor? mine caps it to 260 fps so capping 3 under wouldnt do anything.
🕶
uncap FPS is guaranteed to be the best if the game pushes 1000fps
some games do not.
So it's better uncapped
Can i have your wallpaper on pc?
if only my 1650 could even get stable 75 fps in warzone, lol. What a horribly optimized game
Guys please, tell me which one is better. uncap is better right???
If you're getting 300fps capped vs 500fps uncapped, unless you have god tier reaction time + lowest latency keyboard/monitor at 4000-8000hz polling rate + any oled monitor/360hz fast ips/zowie 360hz, that it'll ever make a drastic difference.
@@JagsP95 It also depends on the game actually, a Race game that I play very often with uncapped Fps gives to me better responsiveness, more than capping Fps to 60 or 300fps
new vid just dropped
Cap it at 600 since uncapped is 1000
In conclusion, in-game cap is the best.
for games like CSGO/Valorant/Siege/OW yeah because you get insane 1% lows of these anyway but games like Warzone or Battlefield where 1% 0.1% sucks then giving up 1ms for way better lows is a happy trade
@@GoldenEagle0007 what about apex?
@@jolent2947 i dont play apex sorry
@@GoldenEagle0007 :(
Isn’t uncapped the winner? Followed by in game cap?
Did you even watch this
@@FR33THY I did indeed. I’m an untrained eye to PC tweaking so I’m stating what I saw as a layman. I’m just confused. But I always love the content n uve helped me along my pc journey
@@inflatablepeas6649 You can use in game limiter to cap fps or use rtss to cap fps, it will improve 1% lows.
@@JagsP95 thank you! I guess I am ignorant to the concept of 1% lows and their importance I’ll have to look into them to fully grasp the info
@@JagsP95 That depends on the game also, because a Race game that I use to play with uncapped Fps gives a big improve on performance, while capping it at 60Fps or 300Fps gives input lag.

could you test this with csgo ? ^^
Thanky
