Very informative! Thank you! I’ve cross stitched for years but was given a crewel embroidery kit that I am going to try my hand at. Mastering embroidery stitching will open up a world of new designs for me.
Hi I'm new to crewel embroidery, I've gotten some partially started kits with no more floss or yarn and I'm wondering where I can find the crewel yarns and just what are they called floss or yarns ???
The video needs to be longer as we who are beginners to Crewel Embroidery need to see the whole stitch from beginning to end. So please make longer videos so we can do this craft properly.
I have had a beautiful crewel embroidery kit for years and have not ever started it because it looked so hard. Thank you for your helpful video - this should give me some more confidence!
Starts at about 2 minutes and shows it extremely clearly and slowly with clear explanations. Needle comes up here, needle goes down there. How much more detail did you need?
i AM AFRAID i HAVE TO AGREE WITH SOME OF THE COMMENTS..however I think the problem as in many videos is lighting and close up's...The hand cast's a shadow that makes it hard to see clearly what is being done...This is an issue with so many videos. That and going to quickly....One must truly be able to clearly see exactly what you are trying to do..I would work on having a few lamps positioned so that a shadow is impossible..also a better close up..I do love your accent...!
I have a crewel project that is partially finished and I cannot find the directions. I thought it was Elsa Williams but the outline is blue which is the wrong color. The item you are working on has a blue outline would you advise who's design it is. thank you
Hun this is designer, tutor, author, Phillipa Turnbull. The video is a excerpt from one of her tutorials CD's she sells on her site www.crewelwork.com/shop/8/index.htm. She is working on a pattern of her own creation. Does your pattern have a name or number printed on the side. Maybe google that. Or I have had luck googling the main image description the best I can, and scrolled though the images.

Just had to say how much I enjoyed this video. Thank you so much for posting it, I would love to see more videos from you. You do such beautiful work!
Thank you for being the ONLY video I could find to learn how to crewel! You described it very well. What a beautiful Iris!
Thank you for the clear explanation in your video. It has given me incentive to attempt such on a piece of linen I recently purchased.
Aha! Now you have explained Long and Short shading ... at last! This DVD is so much better than readiing a book. Laura, Barcelona
So it's like embroidery but with yarn? Ever since my grandma heard I was getting into crochet she's been sending me crewel yarn.
Great to watch and learn. Lovely design. Thank you.
These are very detailed works!

Очень красиво и аккуратно у вас получается.Жаль только,что не показываете на камеру как кладете стежки.
