The Gentlemen of the College singing "Runaround Sue" by Dion and the Belmonts at the 2013 NKE serenade. Arrangement: Dylan Vorbach '15 Filmed by Ali Whitehouse
@@realboltfan I’m not saying that the vocal should be grittier _because_ that’s how it was originally sung; I’m saying-that the rasp/grit in the original vocal is what makes it so powerful. The fact that Dion’s voice is _not_ “crystal-clear” is what makes it emotional. The “Flaws” in Art-are the things that you connect with; _Not_ the “perfection”. Robots are “perfect”. Robots do not make mistakes. Humans are not “perfect”. Humans _do_ make mistakes. That’s why you _can_ connect with humans-and _cannot_ connect with robots. Vocals shouldn’t always be “crystal-clear” or “perfect”-because _Life_ isn’t.
I was thinking the same...Either that, the backups need to tone it down a bit or give the lead a mic...To me, the backups kind of drown him out a bit...Otherwise, it's pretty good for non pros, lol
+lewisner They sing way to loud for not having a mic. When they would sing this with a mic it is easy to lower the volume on the background voices and give the lead more volume. Now the lead sings quite loud but the other guys just keep on singing way to loud which makes it very messy and overall an underwelming performance despite the arrangement being quite fun.
Dion DiMucci would be proud at age 80. But correction.., it was studio backup group, The Del-Satins who recorded it with Dion as solo, post seperation of The Belmonts in late 1960. A 1961 release.
Aside from one minor point--it wasn't by Dion and the Belmonts, the Del Satins were backing him up--this was very awesome, you guys. SO glad people are keeping this music form alive.
Sorry to correct ya, but it's Dion & The Del-Satins. Dion broke off with the Belmonts back in 1960; this was recorded and released the following year, making it his first "solo" hit.
11 years too late in finding this, but I love it!
Naked
@Yesica1993 Yeah, same here.
Where's Carlton when you need him?
Carlton loves tom jones lol but yeah I think he be good at this
Carlton is too black for this
That is rascit

He's in the extended version
this might just be the most perfectly adorable version of this song ever
Excellent job guy's.
Great harmony's to accompany the very good lead vocal +1
Genious!!! And fun to watch!!! The try to hold back but this song is so awesome they get "carried away"! Larger than life, this is!!! Outstanding!
When you can't spell "genius"....
This is awesome! Great job guys!

WOW------Love this~!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥
That's really cool gentlemen!
Absolutely outstanding
Easy pleased
This is a great performance, but the lead vocal *HAS* to be grittier. Dion had a beautiful voice but he also added a good deal of rasp to his voice.
Chris Serpicø I disagree. The voice is magnificent. They are not professionals
You don’t have to replicate everything exact. It’s good.

@@CipherSerpicohow about you and your 5 year old comment go fuck yourselves. Is that gritty enough for you?

This is great but IMHO it's a bit too busy with so many of them.
+lewisner my thoughts exactly!!!

Nobody cares about your opinion though
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!
4 guys would have been plenty I'm not into choirs doing Doo Wop. Dion had 3 in the background but they were pros in all fairness.
He also had musicians… ❤
The voice of the guy is really really good
great energy. The lead vocalist is great on this….
Wonderful singing boys -great job 😊
i love it
You guys are rather awesome. I wish I could rip off my mask and sing along with you.
You can rip off your mask, it’s a free country and it’s not protecting you anyway
Why? Are you Spider-Man?
You have no microphone. You did an amazing job. You all sing very well. Please do it again, while older than now.
Absolutely breathtaking voices! Oh, and the guy in the American flag tie is really cute.
Anyone else think the lead looks like Chris Evans/Captain America
IT IS
+Bipolar Bear yeah I figured out 8 months ago
No
My favorite 50's era song
Love all the background!!!

00:52 why the long face, guy?
omg
He looked happier a few seconds after
Eleven years ago! Wonder what they're doing now.
Very good !!!!! Fantastic !
...the back round vocals are TOO LOUD. Blend...you all have 30 voices versus his 1...you are the BACK GROUND not the lead.
Dude... It's a fuckin cell phone recording.
i love this
I love this ❤️
Love this!
Nice to see guys in suits and ties for a change. There is that one guy with the orange tie, looks lile cardboard! Good job!
Guys wear suits and ties all the time. Millions of them in America alone. Every single day
Muuy bueno ,me acuerdo los tiempos del colegio .
AMAZING..
Amazing, almost as good as Dion himself! (almost)
Runaround Sue love.
Awesome guys!
Iove.this.
Wonderful cover

Wow , that's about three times as many singers as I have ever seen do accapella .. Not bad
Very goooood!!!!! 😍

Good vibes 👍🏽🎶
Trop chouette !! ❤❤
very very very good!!
for the culture
Dear good!
The poor kid 5th from the left (next to American tie) never learned how to snap his fingers growing up, but his particular backup bit is cool!
Very nice!
What is the boy (fourth from the left) wearing around his neck?! Also, why the long face? 😉
Awesome
pero que bueno que esta loko!!! muy buen cover acapela!!!
give those guys some credit people , this is not easy .. Nice cover there , good job

Cool❤
And they all found love that night ......♥️😉

Plus who wrote this arrangement?? Incredible!!!
The women in the audience are clueless. These men are the best they are likely to run across for the next 20+ years
Need about 15 more background singers
Que hermosos recuerdos musicales me morire escuchando esta musica de aquellos años
Scott the Woz/Robbie Fox holding down the left side
lol yeah
Great job ^_^ I enjoyed watching the video
LoL good stuff guys. You did it justice
Good job
