S10's music has always been an exploration of her evolutionary path to mental health.
From the age of 14, S10 was constantly in psychiatric hospitals. Some of the tracks on her debut EP ‘Antipsychotica’ and her second EP “Lithium” began with vocals that she recorded in her bedroom in a mental hospital using
only the microphone on her headphones. For example, the song "Positief" talks about the 17 hours she once spent in solitary confinement in one such facility, and the “Lithium EP was so named because it was a drug she was prescribed to treat her bipolar disorder.
In 2020, the Dutch radio station 3FM released a short documentary about the singer. The filmmakers followed S10 continuously throughout the year as she recorded music, performed live and talked about her path to peace and happiness.
In a separate 2018 interview, she spoke at length about the shortcomings of treatment and social programs in the Netherlands and the costs associated with being in psychiatric institutions. "Children with psychological problems just don't have good help right now,’ she said.
S10 has been involved in several events and initiatives dedicated to discussing and combating mental illness among the youth of the country, including organizing a concert for children with psychological problems.

S10 has struggled with mental issues in the past. According to her, De Diepte is an tribute to the sadness of the past and the memories. "We all go through a lot. And also sad things. You take all that with you and that may be there too. Memories always stay with you." It's not her boyfriend who dies. Let me tell you a little story. Last Friday we welcomed a refugee from Ukraine into our family. A normal man/man with lots of pets family. He was a complete stranger to us so we didn't know how everything will goes. Last Saturday we watched our entry to Eurovision for the first time together. He said to me, this was the first night in a week or so I really had a good sleep. I am so thankful that he came into our life's. He is such a great person. Born in Ukraine, studied in Moscow and studied in China for many years. He knew he wouldn't survive because he's not a soldier, never touched a gun in his life. He's gay and even in Ukraine it's not ok to be gay. He speaks Ukraine Russian English Chinese fluently and he's a doctor.
I married to my boyfriend, we are together for almost 15 years and we live a good life.
I thought if we could only safe one life I can look to myself in the mirror and say at least we did something.
After a few days we all ready became good friends. We talk with each other for hours and hours and hours.
I found another soulmate. Nothing sexual but very spiritual and neither one of us is religious.
Even the worst dark events in life has its beautiful moments.

Exactly simplicity. Its raw emotions. It doesn't need vocal gymnastics or impressive effects. People don't even have to understand the lyrics. It just needs to let the raw emotions flow freely. People who can feel will recognise the numbness, the grieve, the desperation in her deepest sorrow. She is emotionally clinging to the memory of a loved one that she has to let go of cause he died.
Your sadness is so evident even if subdued. I pray for you & Ukraine. You are one of my most faved reactors. Hope you react more to K-pop idols.
I see this as a top 10 or top 5 song. I think it is definitely very good. I was a HUGE fan of VICTORIA's Growing Up is Getting Old last year, and although these songs are different - they both give sad indie girls vibes and deal with various mental health issues. I like this song a lot along with Lithuania.
