I was a drummer for over 30 years but there are occasional musicians that knock me sideways and Randy is/was my biggest hero despite not being a guitar player myself, something about his playing grabbed me from the first note of I Don't Know right through to the final note of this track. We gave our first born son the middle name of Randall in tribute and I have one photo in my wallet - been slagged off for it many times, and it's a pic of Randy taken from the obituary/tribute in Kerrang mag from March/April 1982, still got it. Miniature guitars, large canvases, multiple t-shirts, framed pics, books, my house is like a shrine to Randy. Visited his family crypt in San Bernardino a couple of times and met a guy on a bus, who on seeing my Randy t-shirt, said "Hi, my name's Doug, I used to be in a band with Randy's brother!". I had to get off the bus two stops later but could have stayed in his company all day just to hear stories. R.I.P. Randy, my all-time hero, never forgotten, still missed 6.12.56-19.3.82.
Tommy Aldridge is my all-time favorite drummer. The list of musicians that he's played with is impressive. He is on record as saying that Randy is the greatest musician that he's ever played with.
@@HocusPocusFocus69That's a massive compliment from Tommy and if anyone knows, he does. The Tribute album shows the genius in its' ultimate light, staggering to know that there was only one guitar player onstage and Tommy's contribution is outstanding also. Strange isn't it, Tommy is best known for the early Ozzy and Whitesnake years yet he didn't play on either of the Blizzard albums (I don't count the horrible erasing of Lee Kerslake and Bob Daisley) or the 'Snake 1987 album even though he's in the videos!
Glad you liked it... Randy Rhodes was a Genius.. He wrote the music and Bob Daisley (bass) wrote the lyrics about his time in a mental hospital.. I love Ozzy but he only contributed his singing. This whole album is worth a Deep Dive.... Randy and Bob made this album... Outstanding!
an ABSOLUTE EPIC song!!!!!! Randy Rhodes the guitarist was a GENIUS and taken away from us TOO SOON!!! Literally after this album was recorded during the tour he was killed in a plane crash, R.I.P. Randy!!!! Check out "Revelation (Mother Earth)" and "You Can't Kill Rock n Roll"!!! Randy played on the first TWO Ozzy Solo albums: Blizzard of Ozz (which has Crazy Train and Mr. Crowley) and Diary of a Madman
INTRO IS INSPIRED BY - Estudios Sencillos No. 6 (Leo Brouwer) - LEO BROUWER IS A WORLD FAMOUS CUBAN COMPOSER/GUITARIST , THIS IS ONE OF HIS STUDIES...AS YOU KNOW RANDY WAS A STUDENT OF CLASSICAL GUITAR .....
The guitar melody strangeness...for lack of a better word, has a lot to do with the time signatures. The verse is in 7/4 and the pre chorus is in 3/4 just as an example.
DIARY OF A MADMAN AND BLIZZARD OF OZ ALBUMS ARE FULL OF GUITAR MASTERPIECES ...RANDY WAS A WORLD CLASS COMPOSER !!!!! THE LIVE ALBUM "TRIBUTE" HAS SONGS FROM BOTH ALBUMS PLUS A FEW BLACK SABBATH JAMS....ONE OF THE BEST LIVE ALBUMS EVER.... AND MY PERSONAL FAV !!! GIVE THE GUITAR PROPS TO RANDY NOT OZZY !!!!
If you want to stay with Ozzy sole then try No More Tears (not the video version...it's over a minute shorter than the official audio). If you want to get into Ozzy's origins, then you need to dive down the Black Sabbath rabbit hole then start with the song Black Sabbath. Their first song...1970.
@ in terms of production and also with the talent of Jake E. Lee, Ultimate Sin is a good album. In my view, different eras. Still, Randy Rhoads as a talent was very hard to beat. Cheers!
Ozzy is only a good singer. The credit of the lyrics and music writing go to Bob Daisley (Bass), Lee Kerslake (Drums, and Randy Rhoads (Guitars). These three guys were the main powerhouse sound of The Blizzard of Oz. Read about it and educate yourself.
Little known fact, the drummer Lee Kerslake came up with the vocal melody it was too complicated for Ozzy he thought it was too Frank Zapoa like

Randy let everyone go home and he stayed back in the studio. Seeking a solo for this. Came out with a smile. Nailed it.
RIP Randy Rhoads \m/
All time A leaguers
This song and album could easily called Diary of a Masterpiece.....it's actually by blizzard of ozz. Ozzy was the frontman.
The odd time change creates that vibe of manic behavior

The whole album is a guitar clinic, Randy Rhoads wrote two masterpiece albums
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle and Bob Daisley wrote the lyrics on both albums also
This is one of my favorite songs. Incredibly intricate and creative.
Could be called Diary of a Masterpiece
RIP Randy Rhoads .... THE LEGEND LIVES ON !!!!
The mr. Crowley aolo alone shouod gave msde tou go get those two albums. Two of the best albums ever written
The intro is double tracked using a steel string acoustic and a nylon string acoustic.
He double and triple tracked most of his parts, he was a genius with layering guitars
His first 2 solo albums are magic - they were game-changing back in the day
Weren't expecting this. Awesome you checked it out.
Randy Rhoads is the GOAT IMO
Millions agree .....see our Q&A with Andrew Klein it only adds to Randy’s legacy

RANDY RHOADS!🤘
Ozzy had nothing to do with the guitsr ..its Randy Rhoads
The first two albums of Ozzy with Randy are the better🤘
Two masterpieces

Thank you for the last line....
No one it's Randy Rhoads, of course, you'll get nothing but A league guitar work. He notoriously double and triple tracked his guitar parts

love ozzy !but he was probably the least talented member in this band ! Randy Rhoads Legend!!!
Ozzie live during that time. Was absolutely incredible. His voice was flawless in concert.
Ozzy absolutely was the least talented..he was certainly the biggest PoS in the band
strings!!!
The Ultimate Sin is a good album. Try Killer Of Giants.
No it's not on the level of this album killer of giants that was Jake's nod to Randy
