  • I bought a SJRC F11 4K PRO Drone and IMMEDIATELY lost it. Its rated up to 800 meters/.5 miles of HD transmissions and a max of 1500 meters/.9 miles of connectivity. Well, as you can see from the video I was no where near that. Maybe at most 150 meters/.1 of a mile.
NEVER TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE DRONE. NO MATTER WHAT THE SPECS ARE!

I bought the most expensive model F11. Have flown over 1km away. Don't use the phone, use the remote as you can fly without the app

Always set a fence ie on beginner mode the fence is set for 30 mtrs. When you try to fly past that it takes over and flys back within the 30 meters and hands over. when beginners mode turned off you can set that fence larger also set the return to home hight so that it is above obsticles like trees. ( It first climbs to that hight then returns ) If set to low it doesnt avoid and flys straight into them. Its probaly high in a tree........

In theory you have to do nothing and it will rise up and fly back by itself at low battery. But if it is under a tree or something it can crash.
Also the F11 does have toilet bowl from time to time. Especially when you press return-to-home. I don't trust mine either. Really struggled to land it safely again. Best to switch off GPS and take over control manually.
That is why people always should learn to fly with a $20 toy without GPS or optical flow or even altitude hold. Sooner or later you are going to need those skills regardless if you have a fancy DJI or budget drone.

Yeah. After this video I got another f11 and learned a little bit about the wifi settings and local interference. I began ripping it around without gps and had a ton more success. I ended up getting a DJI MA2 shortly after though. Way easier. Costly yes, but worth it.

@@gimpgangster I bought too many cheap drones. DJI Mini didn't have follow-me. But it will with Litchi or other app. The F11 I simply can't trust when riding my bike in traffic. Soon the return-to-home kicks in it becomes uncontrollable and goes into toilet bowl. A RTH is completely useless on a follow-me drone anyhow. It should have a return-to-controller option. My funny L109 Pro (with poor camera) does a return-to-controller. And my Fimi A3 (with lousy batteries) does.
And it's a shame. The F11 4k does a reasonably well follow-me. But either I have to race back like an idiot before a truck runs over it. Or at low battery it goes into toilet bowl and I will crash it into someone's new Porsche.
So I will probably look for a DJI Mini SE with third party app. Follow-me is all I want. I don't care for landscape etc. And I wish the Chinese would make a proper follow-me drone for a budget. They easily could. But they don't have a clue what people are using drones for in real life situation.

@@driewiel yeah. That’s why I got the MA2. I do a lot of following. Down the greenway, at rugby, racing. A lot of stuff. Totally worth the money. If you look at it that way, buying a $200 drone to be subpar, 4 $200 drones later you have a good DJI. I bought mine used off eBay. I didn’t get an incredible deal on it but I saved about $100 from retail. It was lightly used.

@@gimpgangster DJI only uses active-track. That is optical. Why they no longer include GPS follow-me I don't know. Well I do know. Warranty. They believe their costumers are too stupid to avoid obstacles themselves. But with Litchi, Dronelink or...(forgot the name) you have both active-track and follow-me. The Mini 3 does a fantastic job though. I'm not saying active-track is useless. But GPS follow-me is more reliable in many situations.
DJI doesn't have a real dedicated follow-me drone. I think they underestimate the number of people who are looking for just that. A proper tracking drone should be small, safe, affordable, have the correct programming, small controller with GPS, couple other things. And maybe not have a gimbal? So you can put it in your pocket? Actually my Tello is quite nice for some shots with people around. So a Tello-Follow with GPS and sd-card perhaps?

@@gimpgangster Mavic 3. Total fail if you ask me. ua-cam.com/video/J_qEpgcFiJE/v-deo.html
They concentrate too much on pure video quality. How many people are going to risk their expensive drone like this? Personally I would settle for 1080P reasonably stable video if it truly were a reliable crash resistant follow-me drone I can use in real life such as on a bike trail.

    Don't mean to be "that guy" but here goes;
You said you read the manual? You should never and I mean NEVER lose eye sight of the drone.
Secondly, I am unsure of the law where you are but it is illegal to fly this class of drone in a residential area.
There are many many reasons for this however one of the reasons (not the biggest by any means) is that you have a great deal of WiFi interface which will severely reduce your FPV range. This comes from homes in close proximity to your home.
The main reason you should never fly in a residential area is that this is NOT a toy. It has a great deal of mass therefore inertia so if it did fail and fall out of the sky then it could have killed someone, or placed a hole in someone's shed or smashed its way through a conservatory.
You wouldn't think this but it is absolutely the case and if you had taken the course which is free you would know this.
Also, not to rub salt into the wound you already have, if you had read the instructions as you claimed then it would be a simple issue to set your return to home point at say 50 meters. As soon as you experience difficulties then press the return to home button and the drone literally stops on a dime. It starts to climb to the settings you have programed and slowly but surely returns home so if a tree is 20 metres tall then set the return to home at 30 metres or hell set it at 120 metres at least when the interference caused by you flying where you were not supposed to would not have mattered as all you needed to do was press 1 return to home button correctly set up and you would deffinetly have received it back.
Finally, if you were operating the unit correctly you would have your operators identification on the drone so whomever comes accross it can report it and you would get your drone back if you had registered it as I believe is law where you are.
I cannot comment on the find me feature issues you had however needless to say if you had indeed read the instructions as well as placing your operators identification on the drone you would more than likely have it back.
It's a hard and costly way to learn the rules that are put there for the safety of others as well as yourself.
Unfortunately you have no one to blame but yourself, the drone is fine and actually extremely good when used as advised and in keeping with the law.......... when used as directed I have gotten over 1km with a spotter FPV
Just don't read the instructions, make sure your legal as this is most deffinetly not a toy therefore you could have lost a great deal and I mean that in tbe nicest way possible.
Someone else could literally own your house if the worst happened and I'm absolutely sure you didn't have insurance so maybe consider that because these "proffessional drones" can kill.
    Hope you learnt your lesson...
    Peace

Sorry man, I read the first paragraph to this story and quit. Didn’t mean for anyone to write a review about my luck. Moral is, don’t buy cheap. My Mavic hasn’t had any issues flying around my house or high interference area. You get what you pay for. 🤘🏻

"it is illegal to fly this class of drone in a residential area."
In the United States, the only related restriction is not flying directly over people not involved in the operation (camera crew, for instance) and not protected by a fixed structure. I suspect nearly all drone flying is in residential areas.

Did you do your geomagnetic calibration? That is the only thing that determines home. I have a Ruko F11 GIM 2 and it will not allow me to fly until I have achieved calibration.
