I have the B7K and it does everything I want in a bass pedal. DI, four band EQ, incredibly versatile in every way. Yeah, it's expensive as fuck but it's literally multiple pedals into one, which happens to also have the best distortion in the industry currently. Save up the extra $50-100 on a darkglass and you'll literally never need another pedal for that space again. Once you go darkglass, you never go back.
I looked for a lot of reviews of this pedal, for a long long time, to compare it with the other darkglass products, and this is by far the best video I've found. You show the most radical settings as well as the lightest sound variations, with a lot of basses and players, everything to enjoy the possibilities of this pedal, that fuc*ing great ! My choice is done.
I like that you put so many different basses and players through the pedal. At first I thought this odd but you went through all the settings (even 'no gain') several times, so it really showed what the pedal can do. And real playing! Not just slappity slap jazz solos ;-) thanks guys
I was torn between this pedal, and the B3k V2. My mind is now made up. This is much warmer sounding. The B3k is nice, but a bit harsh for my application. Thanks again for what you guys do! Nobody does it better!
Eric J I bought a B3K thinking I could just turn the gain and tone down to get these kinds of sounds and then there'd be a lot more there if I wanted it. Nope. Now I have a B3K I really don't have a use for and am trying to find someone with the opposite problem that wants to trade, haha! The B3K is a great distortion, just not for making the kinds of sounds the Vintage Microtubes is so great at.
GREAT demo!!! This pedal is awesome. When I 1st got it, I wasn't crazy how is sounded when I compared it to the B3K (bandless). When I tapped it on in 2 different bands, I was floored. I love it as much as my B3K
I have the option of getting either a B3K v2 or a Vintage Microtubes but the cash for only one. If you had to pick one, in terms of versatility and how often you use it, which would it be?
i just got this pedal...it's still on probation, but I'm liking it so far. The only thing I don't like is the power plugin is right next to the input jack! Why would you put it there and not at the top like every other pedal???
Indeed. I love how they explain the settings then show you different configurations and with different basses. I can't stand when people just spin the knobs randomly and/or don't explain what the pedal does and how to use it.
Im a bit late, but these produce nonlinear distortion which by definition creates more harmonics of the base tone, so its not boosting the treble but adding it
@@lordundhimself1310 The Vintage ultra and The B7k ultra sound nearly exactly the same. These little versions are pretty basic, but when you get to the Ultra level you can EQ in any warmth you want. I have owned An M900 and have got a B7K ultra , and the B7K can be EQ'd to sound exactly like a Vintage. The B7k has a lot more distortion to add if need though.
I'm getting a EHX Battalion Bass DI. Almost sounds like a B7k. It's also cheaper. Also, I doubt anyone can pass real blind test between Battalion and B7k. I'll get a Darkglass once my finance is stable.

Darkglass + Bassic Gear Review is a guaranteed click and like from me.
LOVING THE PRECISION WITH THE BRIDGE AND PICKUP COVERS!!! Thumbs up if you rock “ashtrays” on your bass(es)

Just ordered one of these little guys. Cant wait to use some subtle, tubey overdrive on my pbass with flats. Cool video, thanks!
That's my exact set up. How do you find it with the flats?
@@elflakeador09 Loving it! Great vintage tones!
@@blowith that's great thanks!
Mine arrived today, I love it! 😎
The double time part of the track around 2:30 is fire!

Love these pedals. Hate the price tags...

Yep same on the B3k, I dont get it...
Love it! Mostly no setting on here has that fart sound i hate so much in most distorted bass. Very warm and very versatile!
digging these collaborations! Excellent video guys! I wanna get a dark glass pedal now :3
I've got a B7K ultra - it's worth every dollar.
One of my favourite pedals...
Same here.
dear everyone: this is how you do a pedal demo video

I can't stand when people just spin the knobs randomly and/or don't explain what the pedal does and how to use it.
Nick Schendzielos is just a killer, I love his work on the last Havok album (distorsion slap on F.P.C is just perfect...). ;)
Wow! Another great pedal by Darkglass!
it's smooth, but it can bark if you want it. I would use it to shape sound
Best tube overdrive pedal..
Havoc bass player? Didn't expect that at all...
Jayme Lewis where did you get that amazing James Jamerson shirt
thebassist.net
now this sounds organic! I dislike those artificial sounding bass overdrives
Elon Mush these are Bossy sounds.
Great review. I love the variety!
Does anybody know how this sounds with flatwounds?
What bass does Jayme play at 5:00? Looks like a PRS, but which model - looks and sounds great!
This sounds amazing!
being honest, thats too much presence for a vintage OD tone. but sounds great anyway
What bass does Josh use at 3:34? It just sounds fantastic!!! And damn! That Dingwall also sounds soooo good!
It’s the LTD TA500 Tom Araya Signature.
Omg I didn’t think it sounded so great! Thanks, keep the great videos coming 🤟🏻
Josh makes everything sounds great
The first riff sounded like something from a 90s Marilyn Manson album..
Great Demo !!!
3:35 wow! That's my ltd f-415 :d
Please help me how much watt adapter i must use with this pedal
I dig it. That Guild tho...
Awesome demo, guys...I own one myself. best bass overdrive I've ever own. can you demo the darkglass vintage deluxe v3 next?
We’ll see if we can get one.
@@TheBassChannel Thanks....I have been curious about that pedal for quite some time.
The Jamerson tee - where to cop
🔥🔥🔥🔥
That PRS Kestrel out Jazz Basses a Jazz Bass.
what guitar is that @ the 4:10 mark ?
Are you guys going to do a top 10 pedals for 2018?
I can’t imagine we wouldn’t.
I struggle with finding overdrive pedals that sound good with flatwound strings. Do you guys have any pedal recommendations?
The bass played at 8:10 in this video seems to be strung with flats.
Do you see a need to get the deluxe over this one if you already have a 10 band EQ pedal on board?
Get this instead of the deluxe
What’s that red bass with half a pick guard?
Also can you guys do a Walrus Ages demo?
Looks like a Gibson SG bass.
Yep that one is was referring too the solid red one at 9:12
It's a Fender JP90!
Are these just treble boost pedals???? They sure sound like it.
Im a bit late, but these produce nonlinear distortion which by definition creates more harmonics of the base tone, so its not boosting the treble but adding it
how far is this from a tube screamer?
Pretty close. Keep the era knob back for TS sounds. It’s more of a preamp than an overdrive
MESHUGGAHs Bassist Dick Lovgren uses it...good enough for all. End of discussion.
While the Darkglass stuff is nice, it really ONLY has one sound. If that is the sound you want.
I dunno, I like the sound of the Vintage better than their B7K. Not enough warmth on the B7K for me

@kalidesu That's just not true, the pedal let all of those basses show off their particular sounds while adding some overdrive.

Yes, thats true.
Any chance of a Fat Rat demo? It's supposed to be better for bass than the other Rats. Anyone tried it?
If we can find one, we’ll shoot it!
@@TheBassChannelThanks guys!
Sorry, nothing Darkglass makes sounds like genuine tube overdrive. Closest thing I've heard is the Roland Blues Cube line.
Sounds a little too tinny
Darkglass: “this is a vintage pedal to give you warm tube tones”
Pedal: **-adds distortion to signal chain-*
🤦🏻♂️
Tube distortion, literally part of the tube sound is a light amount of gain that responds to dynamics
As bad as all other distortion for bass on the market...
Is the light blue, or white?
Silver
