I disagree. Aggressive, cult-like, comical, stylized, tribal goblinoids fits in so much better with Minecraft's aesthetics and nature rather than generic obese birdmen who look like weird ripoff pokemon species
Okay I was going to write how I feel if mojang put something similar into the game they’d be more like birds and not humanoids because mojang doesn’t put many human looking creatures and they’d most likely put some humanoid animal but then I realized that piglins exist and then I realized mojang literally just took the mechanics of the Umvuthanas/barakoa and put them in the piglins. They both only won’t attack you if you’re wearing something that they commonly wear, they have trading systems where you can get things no one else has. They both hunt. They both have structures. They commonly live in with a variant that’s much stronger and a type of leader!
I HHHAAAATTTTEEEE them. Especially in modpacks that severely reduce your fighting capabilities. My brother and I recently tried out Unions modpack that's like RLCraft and Dawncraft on steroids and on our first night we got slapped with a blood moon which left 4 level 98 Nagas flying around outside our house, constantly shooting us dead in a single hit and keeping us locked indoors for hours until we gave in and used cheats to kill them. After that we just gave up because literally everything 1 shot us and since stuff scales by the day as well as with your difficulty, you can't afford to take things slow and cautiously. By the time you reach day 5 stuff over level 100 starts to spawn and tear through you like nothing. You practically HAVE to be a speedrunner in order to play that modpack and know the optimal way to do literally everything and min-max yourself to hell and back in less than an hour or you're softlocked with uber-powerful enemies sniping you every 12 seconds.
@@RetroMagnus761 Even then they're still a pain in the ass because you can't shoot them, they just dodge out of the way. The only way to damage them is to hit them with a melee attack or get them to crash into a shield or something, or somehow get it to dive bomb right into a trapped room or something. I get that it's unique and everything, but come on! A flying mob immune to arrows? Really?
Man this looks so good! I wish this was official. It feels so unique but still retain the vanilla feel to it without making the content feel overabundant with rules that don't line up with vanilla. Good job to the modders!
kinda sad barako the sun chief is gone, i always thought of him like a mayan god or something i was gonna take down, the birds are cool but was hoping they were something new not just a replacement
Yeah, but the dev team had a good reason to change it. While they hadn't intended for it to be racist, it had features which can be considered stereotypical interpretations of African and Native American tribes. It was brought attention to people when some streamers were playing with the mod and said some racist stuff about it. The creator talked with the community and decided to change it.
The barakoa were my favorite part of this mod and i’m a little disappointed they were replaced, but i understand why. The new models are definitely just as cool though
4:48 Honestly, I can't look at Grottol without imagining he's some kind of blind crab golem with a punk hairdo and a little forward-facing jaw with his troll teeth. It was only at the end that I discovered that the yellow part was actually his face.
Wait wait wait, I'm onto something. The Naga has the attacks of the areocuda from the legend of Zelda Tears of the kingdom and looks similar because of bodybuild. Cool thing that I noticed
ngl the new sun dudes design looks clean it fits minecraft's style way more than the old one (also like how the sun theming is more prevalent than the old one, being their gimmick and all)
theyre cool designs but they don’t fit as well as the old ones. feels weird having bird enemies who can’t fly. Maybe if they were modeled after flightless birds like peacocks it’d be better.
Idk what people are yappin about these birds ARE SICK!! They're more intimidating, and humanoids never quite fit in the Aesthetic of minecraft if they weren't villagers. It just generally looks more nicer!
It would be cool if they elude classification like the sniffer: they have feathery bodies but also hooves and they wear masks. their old chattering would return but with underlying shoebill clicking. It appeases people in both the bird camp and the mask camp
I don’t have any strong feelings about the boss, but I HATE the Umvuthana tribe people. They look SO ugly. Like, I’m not against the idea of “they have a sun for a head” as that’s a cool concept. But it’s horribly executed. I can barely even see them when their moving. They just look like a blur on your screen.
If you genuinely think the barako and barakoa are "racist" because they use tribal asethetics that says more about you than the barakoa or the creator of the mod itself.
Man I desperately want some of these mobs to drop items to tame/spawn smaller or passive versions of them. Especially the Naga, I could see a mechanic similar to an amphithere from the ice and fire mod (ofc, still with them being hostile and having an incentive to slay) where you can overpower it and then tame it
I get art is subjective and all, but I will NEVER understand how people saw the comical, stylized, and goblinoid designs of the barakoas as "racist". It's also baffling how little people can't recognize the clear difference between mythological inspired creatures and racial stereotypes. Like some of these people really need to be educated on racism if they think living masks posing as goblins in a tribal setting "represents" any racist stereotypes.
Oh man, same, just how I never understood how people thought a creature design of a squat, pitch black humanoid with bright red lips and huge puffy hair was racist when it's clearly inspired by east asian demons. Makes absolutely no sense to me. I'm being sarcastic, a mythological origin doesn't change symbols of hate that have been used for centuries. Fat red men with huge piercings that live in tribes and speak gibberish is offensive, the intent doesn't change that. Mowsie did the right thing by changing it of his own volition, and he enjoys the new design better anyway.
It’s not that anyone inherently viewed them as racist, but some UA-camrs in Europe began making racist remarks about the Barakoa while playing, and Mowzie didn’t want his creation to be part of it
@@WishBone-ht2mx If people think the barakoa were supposed to represent any sort of real life minority or tribe (even though they clearly weren't) then that's on them. It's not the job of the creator to hold the hands of those who purposefully misinterpret their work so they can create a false narrative that justifies getting mad over nothing. Mowzie had no reason to change them but because he's so naive and self absorbed he can't see this.
Honestly, reasons for why they turned into birds aside, I don’t actually MIND the change entirely, I think they kinda look neat, and even have their own different charm being birds
@@ghastlyweather1750not really. Hes stated he changed it multiple times due to death threaths he got and being called a racist. This was before the Qsmp thing. So no. It was overly sensitive people who made him chance the design.

a thing i should add is: the boulders from the geomancy are plataforms too, if something stands over it, it will move(buged, but move) with the boulder, but the bigger the boulder, the buggier it is
there were literally just goblins my guy like just goblins in every way, the bird energy ball things are way more inspired especially with the sun theming
Umvuthi is cool and all but Barako is absolutely fantastic. I absolutely loved the Zelda esque nature of the Barakoa's designs, they were so comical and stylized and definitely fit the asethetics of Minecraft much better. They were all around just awesome mobs
I liked the old chief and his tribe much better. I don’t understand why they replaced it with this incomprehensible bird. And the author apparently is not going to add any new mobs.
I don't understand the argument for the barakoas being racist. Their designs and inspiration have nothing to do with any depictions of African tribes or their cultures. The barakoas are just goblinoid creatures that are located in a tribal setting, it's not fair to immediately assume that they are meant to be representations of Africans. Just because they may vaguely resemble something that might appear to be a stereotype doesn't mean they themselves are meant to perpetuate or represent said stereotype. By that logic characters like knuckles the echidna from the sonic the hedgehog series should also be classified as racist since his character design has dreads that are reminiscent of a black person, furthermore knuckles is the last of his kind who were a tribe of indigenous echidnas that were located on a remote island that possesed weapons such as spears and dressed up as what you would perceive stereotypical African tribes to look like (facial paint, gold necklaces, tiki/ caveman esque attires, feathered clothing, Pygmy skin tones, ect ect). Should we throw that character, his people, and by extension many other characters across fiction away simply because they will offend a small minority of people online who don't even know anything about the backgrounds of said characters? Any sane person would automatically say no. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinions when it comes to this kind of stuff but it's clear as day that when you look at this situation through more objective lenses, the arguments for the barako and barakoas resembling any racial connotations lacks any real critical thought and falls apart once you start to assess them for what they truly are, which is just weirdos online getting offended over nothing.
They aren't supposed to look like any human culture. They are supposed to resemble what are essentially Zulu goblins. But because a couple of streamers correlated their designs with natives and subsequently made insensitive jokes, Bob decided to redo them into something no racist would ever link to humans. It's why we can't have nice things. I will also note that that the reason Mowzie changed their skin tone from red-pink to olive was because the old colour matched a racist stereotype of native Americans.
@@gabrielherasterol9214 the whole "no racist would ever relate to humans" thing isn't entirely true because the Abavuthana have a lot of direct similarities with the Aztecs
@@ashuraomega1000 Those similarities are relatively subtle, as least when compared to the Barakoa. If something is well-versed enough in Aztec culture, chances are they do not vilify it, but rather appreciate it.

A minecraft mod idea for you which has never been made in minecraft and everyone will want : Minecraft should have controllable robots which could be modified could break blocks could move fly kill people shoot tnt fireball and could be modified with its every part (every part cn get damage differently and has to be fixed)
oh cool, a mowzie's mobs showcase for 1.20.1, i'm sure the comments will be full of people who are fully informed on the reasons behind the new mobs and discuss their opinions on the change in good faith! because surely there are no subsets of the fanbase of a game originally thought up by a man who turned out to be an obsessive hateful bigot that don't mind that sort of behaviour, and for some backwards reason think that avoiding common artistic design niches that were originally founded on racist caricatures is in any way not a normal and rational decision for a person to make. surely.
The concept of goblins originated in the 14th century by Britain, Germanic, and European mythology. Long before the natives and Africans had been discovered and transported to the new world of America. The very first tales and descriptions of goblins and their societies were tribal in nature with them having their own enclosed groups, owning small villages, forming relations with kings and leaders who they can worship, having common cultures, sharing a universal language ect. All of this was long before the prejudice against African Americans started taking place. Saying that goblins and tribal aesthetics were the foundation of "racist caricatures" is just objectively wrong because the statement is simply not historically true. And even if you want to argue that they resemble African tribes too much and are thus "culturally insensitive": you have to remember that the arts and designs of short, tribal, goblinoid mythical creatures/aesthetics were created and pushed by THE NATIVES THEMSELVES. A lot of the tribal and indeginous art and aesthetics that many sections of media use today originated from native American folklore and culture, they were not the creations of bad people in an attempt to spread prejudice towards anyone of African American origin because the Africans themselves made those concepts.
Notch, who this person claims to be an irredeemable hateful bigot, got that reputation for posting "It's Okay To be White" on twitter. Horrifying, I know. It's quite obvious by the comments that people liked the original Sun Tribespeople. The only reason Mowzie changed them to the birds they are now is due to receiving death threats and harassment on xitter. When the only way you can "force" people to accept your backwards ideology is through threats and fear, maybe it's not a good ideology.
I have been waiting for this forever but I am a little sad they didn’t add at least 1 more mob like it would be so cool if there was a golem from lord of the rings type mob here that held a special item
Mods have a hell of a lot more freedom than Mojang does. Mojang has to consider the entire minecraft community when they make updates, not just a small part like Mods do. Adding features that change core gameplay mechanics can alienate people very, very quickly, and those people are forced to either suck it up or never play any new versions of the game ever again. In the case of this mod, the changes to the combat system are incredibly extreme, particularly for PVP. While Mojang has historically been... less than attentive toward that side of the community, they know enough to know that giant sun lasers and BS freeze mechanics are far too big of a change to force upon them against their will.
@@twobladedswordsandmauls2120This is such a cop out excuse. Go ahead and apply this logic to literally any other game and see how assinine it is. Stop excusing Mojang's laziness.
@@matheuswesley7138 No, it literally is an excuse. Like I said, apply this logic to any other game and you will see that it's horse manure. But for some reason Minecraft fandom has been brainwashed into not knowing how game development works and thinking Mojang's low effort is somehow hard work.
If the barako and barakoa are "racist" because they use tribal asethetics then the Umvuthi and Abavuthana are just as if not more racist due to their direct design and thematic similarities to the real life tribe known as the Aztecs Edit: the Abavuthana have the arms, legs, hats, and homes of what you would associate with indigenous tribes. The halo of the Umvuthi is even similar to the feathered hats that many tribes still wear today. They are very clearly humanoid based tribesmen. Furthermore, the Abavuthana are intelligent enough to build villages and form tribal societies with leaders who they can worship, the same leaders are also capable of trading with the player. The Abavuthana are clearly their own people with enough intelligence to be considered sapient. Even if birds aren't "people" there's no denying that the similarities are there. The Abavuthana have all of the same traits that the barakoa have with the only exceptions being their designs. The Abavuthana are also depicted as non humans which (out of context) could potentially be seen as an attempt at dehumanizing the Aztecs with monstrous designs and attributes. When you look at the facts, the Abavuthana have all the same problems the barakoa were accused of having by tenfold, and it's completely hypocritical to call the barakoa offensive and then turn around and make an exception for the Abavuthana.
The Abavuthana do not look even remotely human. Despite Mowzie's best efforts, the Barakoa did. Besides, when most people think of the Aztecs, they imagine the Teocalli. (The flat, stone pyramid).
Fun fact: Ferrous Wroughtnaut is the strongest mob of all, because no mob can hit it and it only does melee attack on mobs making it invincible for mobs to kill.
Saying the barakoa are "racist" is like saying villagers are racist since they slightly resemble bad caricatures of jewish people with their abnormally large noses. Are we gonna remove them from the game too and blast Mojang on Twitter for using "racist stereotypes"?
@@QuinnMillard-jv3rithey weren't though, you're secretly racist for assuming that a fictional creature with tribal aesthetics is racist because they vaguely have similar characteristics of a real tribe.
The change of the Barakos is not convincing, just because some crybabies say that it is racist and they were not even from that country or that culture, but in my opinion it was better to plan 2 types of solar races, the Barakos and the Birds, If they met they would have a conflict but it's really a shame and shit that things have to be changed so that others don't cry, when they have nothing to do with the country and culture
They replaced him with the bird god, frankly a god thing, I hated how the packs would skirmish with blow darts, you basically had to always have a mask on you with how fast they spawn
It pisses me off to no end that we lost the barako and barakoa for generic birdmen simply because of a few idiots on Twitter who don't even know what the definition of racism is.
What can you even say about this situation? I respect Mowzie's attempt at integrity but i think it's a tad bit silly that he prioritized the complaints of a few simpletons (both on twitter and from other backgrounds) over the say of the people who actually engage with and consume his product ("product" in this case being the mod). I'll respect Mowzie's decision but i can't really respect the reasoning for why said decision was made in the first place which fundamentally lacks much critcal thinking as a perspective.
Thinking the barakoa are racist representations of Africans is technically racist in of itself. It implies that anything that uses tribal/tiki aesthetics and designs automatically resembles black people and/or indigenous tribes as well as many racial stereotypes and connotations that surround and represent them in a negative light. It's also worth pointing out that many people have already drawn connections between the Abavuthana and the Aztecs, particularly their similar appearances and thematic attributes. If we're going by the same logic here, then the Abavuthana would be just as if not more offensive than the barakoa for directly paralleling a tribe that actually existed (and technically still does exist today due to their descendants) with monstrous and Sun based designs that could be interpreted as representations of said tribe.
That’s a bit of a stretch, considering that the bird people’s designs are meant to make them unique and non human, adding to the whimsical environment. The Barakoa were offensive because they were red skinned savages that wore very stereotypical masks. Those are VERY noticeable compared to the artistic and unique designs of the abavuthana.
To clarify, this wasn’t intentional on Mowzie’s part. But some UA-camrs made that connection and decided “let’s be racist”. So, realizing the flaw, he took it out.
@LordCrate-du8zm the Abavuthana have the arms, legs, hats, and homes of what you would associate with indigenous tribes. @@RetroMagnus761 No? They don’t look like humans in bird costumes, what drugs are you on and where can I get them. They have freaking miniature suns instead of faces, and their arms are way too long (and their legs are too short, as well as the wrong shape) to be purely humanoid. Also, they don’t look like stereotypical tiki masks. The difference between the Ambuvathana and the Barakoa is that one is far more fantastical and the other is basically constructed of stereotypes. Again, unintentionally. At worst, you can say the Ambuvathana are artistically meant to demonize cultures using bird monsters in their place. Granted; that’s a very flawed argument as they share NOTHING in common with those cultures aside from “mask and sun god”, but okay. The Barakoa meanwhile, can be described at best as unintentionally very racist. Red-skinned savage tribesmen wearing tiki masks who use spears and blowguns is VERY offensive, and if you compare any caricature of a Native American or African tribesman from the early to mid 20th century you’ll find a lot in common.
I like the sun birds. They're cool.
Those Naga are definitely high
Yeah you right
I HHHAAAATTTTEEEE them.

I get that it's unique and everything, but come on! A flying mob immune to arrows? Really?

Oh man, same, just how I never understood how people thought a creature design of a squat, pitch black humanoid with bright red lips and huge puffy hair was racist when it's clearly inspired by east asian demons. Makes absolutely no sense to me. I'm being sarcastic, a mythological origin doesn't change symbols of hate that have been used for centuries. Fat red men with huge piercings that live in tribes and speak gibberish is offensive, the intent doesn't change that. Mowsie did the right thing by changing it of his own volition, and he enjoys the new design better anyway.

I'm wondering how they even came to that conclusion
Man a mod with cool looking mods, whit good animations and are not completely bullshit op.
It's 2024. There's no arguments for rxcism anymore. People get offended by literally anything.
@@gabrielherasterol9214 the whole "no racist would ever relate to humans" thing isn't entirely true because the Abavuthana have a lot of direct similarities with the Aztecs

because surely there are no subsets of the fanbase of a game originally thought up by a man who turned out to be an obsessive hateful bigot that don't mind that sort of behaviour, and for some backwards reason think that avoiding common artistic design niches that were originally founded on racist caricatures is in any way not a normal and rational decision for a person to make. surely.
A decision that was objectively wrong and is flawed by his own logic but 🤷♂️
The concept of goblins originated in the 14th century by Britain, Germanic, and European mythology.
You are pathetic
Meanwhile Mojang added... what?

If the barako and barakoa are "racist" because they use tribal asethetics then the Umvuthi and Abavuthana are just as if not more racist due to their direct design and thematic similarities to the real life tribe known as the Aztecs
Edit: the Abavuthana have the arms, legs, hats, and homes of what you would associate with indigenous tribes. The Abavuthana do not look even remotely human. Despite Mowzie's best efforts, the Barakoa did. Besides, when most people think of the Aztecs, they imagine the Teocalli. (The flat, stone pyramid).

I understand history bro. Do you?

I wish you could tame the Foliaath. It would be a cool House guard
MOEZIE UPDATED LETS GOOOOOOOI
It is annoying how many people spout off shit about the birds being “woke” because they were changed, and ignore the fact that the mod creator (who is working for free to create such a high quality mod, mind you), also wasn’t really that happy with the original design to begin with and changed it.
the two earth items are for a future mob, don't know much...but I once saw that it may be some sort of sage monkey
Hey Noxus, I've always wanted to know what shaders you use so maybe can you put that in a video? Also I am new to java so I want to know credible sites to get my mods from so could you maybe do that?
If you enchant the ice crystal with mending its ability recharges faster. Unbreaking III will make it last longer. At least in version 1.12.2 that's the one I played.
Love your videos bro!
Btw... Bro, could you possibly help me (or anyone). Idk if you have seen/tried a mod where you can see what you have equipped while you're seeing what's inside a chest. Essentially you can see in your inventory your armor, when you open a chest or you're in the crafting table. Can someone please help me with the mod's name?
im not sure but you could be talking about jade
