haha. Sorry! I made this a while ago. I guess I had to wait until you were finished before posting it. :-) Haha. I love the "rustic" word that can save any project. It's like the word "henka" we sometimes use as a "variation" of a technique when practicing martial arts (if the technique was somewhat flawed, plenty instructors gets away with a henka). :-) Thanks my friend! All the best to you!!
@@dekeros-recreationalwoodwo6456 I was put into a trance by that word "henka" once - we were out having dinner dinner and I'd had a few beers and a couple of whiskeys and was getting sleepy - one of the kids there - about 9 years old - went through about 300 pokemons in a book explaining "This one changes into this one (change into = henka)". It went on for about an hour or more - I think some minor brain damage occured lol. His mother rescued me in the end.
hahaha. fantastic! Thank I have a secret control word when you get out of hand :-) haha. Love the story! Take care my friend - "see you soon again" :-)
In the past I have used a 5x7 dot font, I print the number onto a sticky label or tape/ it to the work piece then slowly tap in each dot by hand with a very fine sharp punch making sure to centre the punch on each dot. Time consuming but it does leave a straight consistent mark.
Thank you very much! One thing I was thinking of is making one in acrylic plastic, so I can better aim where to stamp on the work piece. This one will work for me now anyways. Thanks you again my friend - much appreciated! :-)
Thank you so very much my friend! I really value your kind words! Take care to you aswell - and hopefully "see you soon" again! I think we have gotten your English weather over here now :-)
So cool! Thank you! I will try to make several of these since i have metal letter punches in many different sizes and fonts. Many very old ones with cool fonts! Appreciate your time and energy in sharing. HH
Another great idea and well done. Now you need to make one to stamp around a part with a radius. I used to just use a straight board to hold the stamps against to marks loose pieces for foundry patterns but I like the jig you made it sure keeps them spaced nicely. Great work
Thank you so much - and what great idea! Would sure be nice to make a round text sometimes too. You got me thinking here. :-) Thank you very much for you kind support! Much appreciated! :-)
Thinking is always good. I would make one myself but I have a CNC machine which makes it so easy, And I have a choice of thousands of fonts. But I do have a few sets of hand stamps.
Damn, all this time we thought everyone's stampings were jumbled like ours and we were ok with it. Now you go and show us this simple jig and make us re-stamp everything all over again!😒😒 Love you brother and thanks for another great tip!
Oh you guys! :-) Thanks so very very much! I'm still stoked about your video - the first part of it when you two are working in your shop, that is EXACTLY how I imagine you two are going about And I easily can imagine you two has that other side when you just can go full ham and destroy everything (pure carnage and even putting Duke Nukem to shame). :-) Thank you again - didit mean to make you re-stamp everything. Will share my jigs in better time next time haha. ;-) All the best to you!
Great idea and finished off nicely! I always find when using my punches by hand on even thin sheet metal that they don't imprint enough even when using a good amount of force. Why is this?
Ohhhh I don’t have a punch set...yet. My wife isn’t going to be happy with you. No really...I’ve always looked at punches and thought, “How are you supposed to line these things up,” sort of like writing on a blank page without any lines on it. Good idea!
Thanks my friend! Haha. After that glue and sawdust in the freezer getting a punch set should be a breeze. :-) I have always been struggling with getting the letters straight or with consistent spacing. Kinda looked like a 4 year old had been handwriting letters across the surface. This was really an upgrade. :-)
Stort Tack!! :-)
Hey! Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment. No, sorry, I don't sell them. It's not my original idea and I will just who you how you make them.
work out the thickness of the die and the required spacing between each digit, that way you can make spacers to go in the slot to keep the stamped digits evenly spaced. for example if the die has a 4mm digit and you want 1mm spacing between digits make a series of 5mm blocks to fitt the slot in the jig, after each strike move the die along by one block.
Would just leaving the previous letter die in place as he did, not space tht letters evenly? Or are you saying if you wanted more space than the dies side by side provide?
Namaste! Thank you! haha. that was the fastest comment I have had after posting a video. :-) Hope all is well with you my friend? I wish you a fantastic day! :-)
Namaste :) I stopped for lunch and as soon as I read my emails a notification that you uploaded a video popped up :D I only had a few minutes to watch anything, so the timing was perfect :) ॐ
This is so wonderful and I need it so badly. The problem: I just do not understand how to do all of that. It is just too much for my little brain. It seems like many others were helped by your video though.
I'm so sorry for my late reply! I didnt get any notice from YT. I'm sorry, I don't sell them and I would happily give it to you, knowing it would beuseful to you, but the problem is that the metal stamps has different outer sizes. My set is maybe not exactly the size you have, depending on the brands of the stamps. I dont know if you are using tape as a reference line today, but that is what I used before making this. Hope that helps somewhat.
Hey! Thanks for that - but It's nothing I have in mind to do - It wasnt really my idea, I just made my version of it - and the shipping would exceed the material costs. :-) But thanks for asking :-) If you were interested in making one of these for yourself - I would suggest acrylic plastic - it would be easy to get, fairly cheap and with the clear plastic you would get better control when placing it.

Thank you Dekeros! My wife needed this solution for her custom leather goods and your simple design will allow me to create a jig for her.
Oh man I needed this a few months ago. I had a hell of it time trying to get those things straight. In the end I just decided to call it "rustic".

Thank you so much my friend!! Really simple but effective :-)
What a briliant jig! I know for sure how hard it is to get the letters in a strait line, this thing will take care of that! Great job, my friend!

haha. Thank you very much my friend! Yes - this beats the random "comic sans" stamping style I had before. :-)
Great idea. When I get a set of stamps I’ll make one for sure. Thanks.
Thank you very much for that! :-)
Wow that looks GREAT! Instructables cameo! I am inspired to build one, ty!
