    Awesome video! Thank you
    My pan has the cast wheels...Im switching to the laced wheels when I wear the tires out.

      Great bike! I'm a fan of the laced wheels for any dirt roads, enjoy!

    Yep I bought the same tyre changer. It's still a bugger with old tyres when they are stiff as a board.

      Yep has tpms it's just a small sensor on the base of the valve. No need to reset.

    Great video Mal.
    50 USD for tire change in most shops here in the states and thats pulling the wheel yourself.
    However that being said an aftermarket shop owned and operated by a former HD factory mechanic will mount and balance a tire that you have purcashed from him for free ..thats on a wheel you have removed yourself.
    He can get any brand or type tire at a lesser price than factory shops.
    You know where I buy mine at.
    Thanks for the very comprehensive video.

    You made it look easy! I put 2 new motocross tyres on a postie bike 2 weeks ago and it took f#$kin ages lol. Thank God for the Ballard's valve puller tool to pull the tube valve through the rim. Got there in the end 🏍

      Years of changing mx tyres has helped me a bit, hot tip put the tubes in the tyres then feed the valve thru first then the rimlock, works a treat!

    Bit longer on the GS with the tyre pressure monitors. Those things are soooooooo fiddly if you knock them.
    Also the stiffer side wall tyres like the MotOz really need some serious muscle to get them on.
    Thanks for the video!

      Oh ok yeah the HD has a tpms but they are quite small units, yeah the Motoz I fitted them to my old 1290 they were stiff! They wore at 1mm/500km but had 19mm depth.
      These tkc80 are only 9mm but double the wear rate. I'm a bit of a stat's nerd!

    The only thing this video was missing was some good old butt crack 🤣🤣 great video Mal love the humor in everything mate and at the same time a lesson in doing some DIY on the bike 🙏

    Curious, How marred up are your rim edges without using any kind of rim savers?

    • @oldmanspeedadventures
      @oldmanspeedadventures  6 місяців тому +1

      Few marks but the same with mx bikes always having black rims it's hard to change without scratching rims. Some guys touch the scratches up with a black felt tip

    Ballard jigger’s great. Pan Am chain adjustment a pain to get even on both sides. Any tips Mal? Love the Fox tat❤

      I use a telescoping "T" gage between the machined surface and the axle.

    • @oldmanspeedadventures
      @oldmanspeedadventures  7 місяців тому

      yeah I just use turn 1 turn a time each side, then just view the angle of the chain off the top of the sprocket make sure it runs true, hey how shitty does my chain look! Needs a clean and good lube

    Did it not need balancing?

    • @oldmanspeedadventures
      @oldmanspeedadventures  3 місяці тому +1

      No it was fine, typically I find the balance issue is in the rim not the tyre, I have changed many adv bike tyres and never experienced any vibration thus far.

    I think about doing this but it costs me less than $2 AUS here to get it done , plus my thongs just aren’t up to Aussie spec.

    • @oldmanspeedadventures

      Gotta make sure you have good thongs! 2 bucks I might send my wheels over next time!

      It’s a bloody minefield when I go back to the UK as I’m used to Americanisms over here in the Philippines now.

    I'm still confused as to how a pair of underwear has any advantage when changing your tire 1:11?

    • @oldmanspeedadventures
      @oldmanspeedadventures  7 місяців тому

      Oh haha I was confused for a second!!! In Australia thongs are flip flops, sandals, funny rubber things on your feet lol, I have said thongs in another video Pillion to Pajinka and it confused a few US viewers! So funny thanks for pointing that out!

    Rule 1 of changing bike tyres at home, don't do it. Get someone else to do it.
    Rule 2 : refer to Rule 1
