    Man, I feel like my tire changing video was soooooo pathetic that you had to do this just to show me how easy it's supposed to look. I'm certain you would have literally done both tires in the time it took me to get my bike up off the ground! Hallelujah for Old Man Experience!
    Thanks for the vid brother, couple of awesome tips in there. And PS...just used the discount code in the description! HAT and GLOVES ordered!!! Woooohoooo!

    That ratchet strap is a great idea, I’ve never seen that before. The 1290 looks great with the new shoes.. George is adorable also!

    • @oldmanspeedadventures

      Yeah it flattens the tyre and pushes the tyre bead out to the rim, pretty much seals the gap to stop air escaping, this one little trick could save anyone stuck with a tyre that went flat and popped the bead off. Cheers I'm glad you enjoyed it. By the way on the rear you could see how hard I cranked the strap to spread the tyre

    Good work 👍..and fitness 😊 I am changing regularly motocross tires with mousses, i have the rabaconda for dirtbike tires. I never changed myself the tires of my 1290 SAR, it sucks me to spend 40-50 bucks to spend for the tire change, i think i will try to put new tires on the SAR myself, i think it is not more difficult then putting mx tires with mousses, what do you think?

    • @oldmanspeedadventures
      @oldmanspeedadventures  5 місяців тому +1

      Yeah easier than mousses by a long shot, bigger valley on the wheels, no tubes or anything, its actually easier than fitting an mx tyre, I have it down now to about 15 minutes a wheel back onto the bike, just lube it with some soapy water, use the strap if the bead wont set. I am going to shoot another tyre change in the next week, I need to change my rear again so I may as well do another video!

      Yep but where's the fun in that haha always good to have the skill to do it and be familiar yourself with how and what. But oh don't worry option A going to the shop is a LOT easier! As a motocrosser and off road racer we always do our own tyres due to how many we use in a year. All fun, cheers for the comment! Happy New Year!

      @@oldmanspeedadventures how do you avoid the tyre lever from scratching up the the black rims

    • @oldmanspeedadventures
      @oldmanspeedadventures  Рік тому +1

      @@jackchristodoulou197 not much you can really do I think there are products the lever can work against but to be honest most mx and enduro bike rims cop a flogging. I know some guys touch em up with a Sharpie pen. Silver rims definitely better for hiding scratches! I nearly waited till Tuesday for the bike shop to be open to fit them, but thought bugger it make a video, do it myself! The strap around the tyre was awesome I'm glad I got to do that at home, I'll carry a ratchet strap in my spares from now on

    Nice work mate, gotta do mine next weekend on the AT. What do you do for balancing??

    • @oldmanspeedadventures

      Nothing they had balance weights on the spokes from the last tyres. I have no vibration at all so pretty lucky!

  • @Gregwold

    how do you do it without scratching those black painted rims?

    • @oldmanspeedadventures
      @oldmanspeedadventures  День тому

      It will always mark the rims a bit, ever since they went to black rims on mx bikes as well, they always end up with small marks on the rim, I think you can buy plastic rim savers that clip in when using levers, but to me its just part of bike ownership. My GasGas 450 mx bike has silver rims, you don't see any marks. I know a little trick is to touch them up with a black marker pen.

    Why do you choose Tubeless over Tubed?

    • @oldmanspeedadventures
      @oldmanspeedadventures  Рік тому +2

      I've seen some tubes fail on highway use on hot roads. I carry tubes in case needed. It's a tough call to run tubes or tubeless. My last bike, the Tiger had tubes, I'll use the tubeless until I experience a failure, then I'll revert back to tubes. I guess I'm going on the theory that cars and suvs use tubeless, "should" be ok. A lot of off road racers also change from tubes to tubeless system. Very debatable subject, if I swap I'll do a vid and explain why

    • @oldmanspeedadventures

      @@christopher54179 yes to go to tubes that would be an issue. I know Jeep owners there is a trick to put the sensors in a pressurised container and leave it in the car! I assume you must be able to program that function out or just let it display blank. But then it will constantly go to alarm??
