@@nejihiashi He never said "in every way". This is a graphics comparison video, so clearly he was talking about graphics. In which case he's correct, because graphically it is a far more advanced game than Elden Ring.
Agreed, but I could say the same about Elden Ring. Not in terms of technology, maybe, but the way some enemies can be recognized by almost iconic sounds (like those singing "harpies" for instance, or those trumpet playing enemies in Leyndell) is peak sound design.
demons souls sounds amazing. that 3d audio is really something… hearing the first dragon fly over you on the bridge for the first time… that was a nice feeling lol. elden ring doesn’t have any kind of 3d audio on the next gen consoles, but it still sounds good with the right headphones/soundbar/speakers.
@@diegoramos27 wtf? 😂😂 hell no. Elden ring didn’t get nominated for best soundtrack for nothing and it should have beat GOW rag in that aspect. There are so many good soundtracks in that game. They are both from soft games anways
Blue Point did an incredible job. What I like the most is that they brought new life to the npcs by giving them expressions and actual lipsync for once. Something From Soft can greatly benefit from. It is sublte but it adds alot.
Elden looks beautiful. Playing it right now. But damn Now I feel spoiled by having played DS remake Last year. DS remake on PS5 is on another level graphically. It blew my mind when I played it during the PS5 launch.
@@ilusiil that’s not what it is. Demon souls remake is a ps5 exclusive game that could push the limits. Elden is a game that from software had to make playable on last gen as well as next gen. If they made the game as “beautiful” as demon souls remake then there wouldn’t be a ps4/Xbox 1 port
This is a fun comparison to do and everything, but I think to be fair we have to keep in mind that Elden Ring is a game that started development on last-gen hardware, and is cross platform. It needed to be able to be playable on a base model original PS4 and Xbone. The Demon's Souls remake is game designed specifically to show off the PS5.
@@Austin-xi6ku Well in this case a next gen update that would even remotely compare to dedicated remastered would be impossible. from software confirmed that they are adding raytracing in a future update for the next gen consoles. that’ll be interesting. but honestly, this game looks really good in my opinion, especially the character animations.
Like how as different as they are they both look incredibly well and just work to the point of if you switched them graphically it’d be more of a detriment.
Definitely. Finshed DS Remake a month ago and this looks like a hypothetical next gen patch to Dark Souls 3. DeS is literally a generation ahead in terms of graphics.
Even if Elden Ring would have been made without last-gen consoles in mind, I'm not sure that would have made it better. Part of why they can have such a massive world and so many bosses is because it's faster to make lower quality assets.
Also the studio isn't as experienced in the graphics and networking department. BluePoint who is now a Sony 1st party made Demon Souls which is why their game looks so good. The have the resources to put into the title.

Fromsoft also has little dialogue work to do, little explaining, little hand holding with the player, it’s not just the graphical side of things at all they skip so much more
This isn't necessarily true at all actually. with super realistic graphics you can actually take advantage of serious time-saving things like photogrammetry assets from quixel megascans, most of the time-consuming stuff comes from optimization, in a sense, elden ring is held back because it has to run on last-gen consoles, they couldn't get away with as much as demon souls remake could.
Demons soul has clearly a better graphics. But given that Elden ring is an open world game which needs to load much wider scope of space, I think both are equally great work.
Horizon is also open world and there's a really big difference in the graphics between it and ER, still a great game, guess FS don't really care about the visual quality, but the art is amazing.

@@adonicetrig8908 well, I'm playing and loving both, but I had found a lot more to do in horizon, there's NPCs every where, there are machine sites every here and there, Elden ring have an NPC almost never, and the enemies are pretty dispersed when not in dungeons.
@@abreguini u joking right? There’s a new dungeon or mine or castle or fort or camp with secret areas and rooms every 3 minutes in Elden Ring. The map alone is three times that of Horizon. It’s like comparing oranges to apples, one game is short but sweet while the other will be played for years until all secrets are discovered by the community. Elden Ring must be ur first FromSoft game based on ur criteria of content lmao.
Demon's Soul has a considerable smaller scope even compared to the first Dark Souls. Elden ring in on another league entirely. Even Bluepoint woudn't be able to produce that amount of assets with the same quality as the Demon's Souls remake.
Realistically I didn't expect Elden Ring to look nearly as good, given it's open world nature and dynamic lighting. As compared to bluepoints expertise in graphical fidelity and advantage of using fixed lighting and linear, smaller levels. Elden ring does hold up on its once in places like it's legacy dungeons and with certain lighting though.
I don’t know why I keep seeing people say this, considering how Horizon Forbidden West is open world yet the environment even on PS4 has higher fidelity than Elden Ring.
@@WolverineBatman totally different studios. One of which is Playstation exclusive, optimizing specifically for that platform. And mainly, fromsoft has never focused and pushing the envelope with graphics.

Blueprints demon souls engine owns anything from software could ever hope to muster.
From another comparison video the only thing I can say seems to be the other way round from what you said is hair/facial hair. Side by side Elden Ring has Demon's Souls beat there.
One is an exclusive with a small scale environment, meant to showcase the power of the console its running on, the other is a multi-platform, multi-gen open world game. I hope people's expectations are in check.
@@John-996 no one is talking about HFW, we talking about Demon Souls and Elden ring, and Elden Ring is also open world and is superior imo in terms of gameplay.
I just wish From Software could learn how to make multi-player that actually worked. The Demon's Souls remake had the better netcode and multi-player than anything From Software has done
The only things I wish they had taken onboard from Blueprint's masterful remake was the character breathing and exertion sounds, and the physics of dropped weapons and shields. Both were phenomenal and added so much immersion.
And the ragdoll physics of the enemies! Finally they were not as goofy like in previous Souls game but more realistic. Killing a human and seeing him fall down the stairs or collapse in a realistic behavior felt so satisfying
This video doesn't do Elden Ring justice, he keeps showing Limgrave, where it's pretty boring to see, whereas on the DS he's showing the lightning, the ruins/castles. DS looks better, but to be a reasonable comparison, he should have done this test on Leyndell (though Leyndell looks a bit prettier and less run down) or parts of Lucaria.
Yeah I don’t get it. At least show comparisons of a castle vs castle or something. All said Elden Ring, artistically, I think is superior. There are so many varied and interesting places. Demons souls looks great, no doubt, but it doesn’t have the variety and scale.
The video just shows the beginning part of both games. There are plenty of spectacular and varied and levels in DeS Remake too such as Tower of Latria.
@@BH-xe7nb It doesn't have the scale, but certainly has the variety just like og DeS. The remakes does show off really well how you can use modern lighting techniques to increase atmosphere however. The difference in the Storm King fight between the og and remake for example is insane.
Elden Ring is last Gen, Demon Souls was made specifically for Next Gen. While the mechanics are waaaay better on Elden Ring, Demon Souls PS5 graphics are in a whole new level. 1st time I booted the game I was mind blown. Not so much with Elden Ring, besides the open world, that was amazing to see👍🏻
Demon Souls Remake will always look better graphics wise. It was made exclusively for the PS5 and it is supposed to showcase the console's capabilities. Elden Ring is a game made for the masses and considering the open world design and the massive contents this game has, there are obvious limitations to how much they can ramp up the graphics. In my opinion, these souls game are more about the gameplay than the graphics.
Demon Souls looks wayyy better. However, it's important to note that Elden Ring is a cross gen game and also was made from scratch. Demon Souls just had to remake the same game from PS3 so obviously more time was spent on how it looked.
Yeah, having good graphics is a key aspect of remaking a game. Also ER is full open world too so I imagine it would be much harder to make it look as good as DS

my only gripe with elden ring is that, even though the world is huge, i wish it was filled with armies of enemies instead of groups. the world is so big it should be teaming with alot more enemies. i hope they do events in the world and increase the difficulty in areas like caelid and add some new emotes to get or something new etc.

Bluepoint are technical wizards. Give them some exceptional art directors and they're going to create something unreal. Stfu and stop making excuses. What about all the other games released. For this gen? Did GT7 and horizon forbidden west have ugly last gen graphics? Isn't Fromsoft using the same animations in most of their games?
Elden ring was not made from scratch, it's literally the same engine they've always used, just expanded to a more open world. Everything down the animations is the same as DS3.. In fact Bluepoint put all new animation into demon's souls and retro fit it into the engine and timings, which is much harder.

Just because they have some elements in common, like I said before, that doesn’t mean they’re the same thing, they are individual games, I’ll give u more examples, The Witcher 3 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Halo Infinite and Doom Eternal, Mortal Kombat X and Injustice 1, Dark Souls 3 and Monster Hunter World, Forza Horizon 5 and Gran Turismo 7, Fifa and Pes, the list goes on. The two games are not the same, somewhat similar in some aspects? Yes, albeit being completely different genres of games. A green apple to red apple example would be Dark Souls 2 to Dark Souls 3 or The Witcher 2 to The Witcher 3 or AC Valhalla to AC Odyssey. Demon Souls to Elden Ring is like Bloodborne to Elden Ring, not the same.
Bluepoint did great on this and shadow of the colossus. That being said, Fromsoft made the design, lore (as much as there is in DS), gameplay and atmosphere. In my opinion those are more important than flashy graphics. I'd really like to see Bluepoint make an actual new IP because they're really talented on the graphical side. Hopefully that rumor they are is true.
Yep. And don't forget the amazing aspects of demon souls(such as gameplay and lore) were made by from software. They just remake the graphics. I heard rumors of them teaming up with from software to make a new game. Hopefully its true.
Demon souls looks soooooooo much better, I remember the atmosphere being so intense on my first playthrough. Made me want to explore every inch of the game. Dying wasn’t really frustrating I wanted to see more of this dark, but yet beautiful world. When Elden improve its visual maybe I’ll give it a chance but I’d rather replay ds3.
DS3 was the most overrated and worse of the series I don’t get why people praise it so much. DS2 had way more content and secrets but gets hate for its aesthetics which even than wasn’t that fucking bad smh
I very much prefer Elden Ring's diverse palette and overall aesthetic but it's really clear that the DS remake has superior graphical fidelity and attention to detail. My only complaint about Elden Ring is that light sources like torches and lamps don't emit any shadows. The character just sort of glows from front to back.
I also figured that elden ring’s size could also have something to do with their graphic capabilities. I mean to have the same level of details from the DS Remake to Elden Ring might be too much and cause problem for players. Where as Demon Souls isn’t as open world as Elden Ring with its entirety divided into different areas.
Seeing all the elden ring fanboys coping and making excuses is hilarious, sure the game may play great, I don't play souls games so I wouldn't know, but holy shit this looks start to mid ps4 era and people are too brainwashed tok admit it.
The community doesn't care about the graphics bro. ER might be one of the most revolutionary open world games released in a while, maybe of all time. If you want to miss it out because it doesn't look like a Rockstar game be my guest.
@@Solaire_of_Astora13 Why does that matter? Reality won't change if he likes BF, AC, TW, RDR or Minecraft. ER has several issues and it is outdated in almost every possible way, and that is a fact wheter u like it or not. Fromsoft fanboys stop shaming yourselves.
Seems like a weird comparison considering everything you showed from Elden Ring is in one area near the beginning and you’re comparing it to completely different things in Demon’s Souls. Raya Lucaria is quite impressive as are many other areas in Elden Ring that aren’t the beginning.
People just get things wrong... ART DIRECTION and GRAPHICS are totally different things... ER probably has a better art direction but there no way to have better GRAPHICS than DSR which is a next gen game, period!
I like the artdirection of demons souls more because it looks more like dark souls. Elden ring is too vibrant, not depressive enought, even the overworld music sounds too happy. Demons souls artdirection is more dark-souls-like and depressive.
Showcasing Elden Rings graphics only on the starting open world area in the sunny weather. Truly a genius, did everything to make Elden Rings graphics look bad... If you compare the graphics you need to find comparable shots. Elden Ring has castles too and there it looks fantastic. Oh sorry, to see that you actually need to PLAY the game, and not just to enter it to record 10 minutes of footage. Graphics is not super advanced, but style is dope and it is excells in its atmosphere. The only concern I have in terms of style is sunny weather during the day.... It looks too oversaturated. In the other weather conditions it looks great
Looking at this comparison, they actually look almost comparable. But having played both games the difference in visual fidelity is huge. The tree canopies are 2d ffs XD. But I think what does it for me mostly is the framerate. Demon´s Souls is a pretty much flawless 60 fps, while the ps5 version of Elden Ring stutters constantly. Feels a little like the game is struggling. I really hope they manage to patch it.
You bought a full price game and stopped playing after less than an hour because it felt like a 2014 game? You must be joking right? First of all there are barely any games of this caliber from that time. I would even say no game from that time that is this huge and densely packed. @@valentinvas6454 Nothing wrong with that, it's just pointing how it didn't require my needs, so if anybody from here had same wide monitor avoid it as it was an unpleasant experience from my point of view
Well, all of fromsoft games always focus on gameplay. Dark souls, demon souls (ps3), bloodborne, sekiro, armored core. They always focus on gameplay first, story second, and graphic third (more like art direction than graphic). The last is technical stability. Like, their PC port is troublesome. If you want to play games with focus on graphic, try unreal engine 5 titles or demo.
It's been two years since Elden Ring came out, seems like so many things have been improved in Elden Ring on console version. Apart from Ray Tracing mode, Elden Ring is a pure masterclass in every aspect. Ray tracing adds too much in terms of graphics but unfortunately it just works on some areas, but for instance in Limgrave, everything turns into a soup.
Elden Ring's art style and design make it look next gen, but there are a lot of compromises like pop in, longer loading times and it barely keeps up the 60fps, they're using an updated version of their old engine and it makes it look like a glorified ps4 game. Demon's Souls runs perfectly, steady 60fps, looks great, loads quick, real next gen experience, its just missing that From Software touch that Elden Ring has.
@@Wakshak321 I know but it's the exact same game just with a new engine, so the world aesthetic and design is extremely faithful (almost to a fault imho) to the original from software game on ps3. @@nanofcb3024 Its not the exact same game, the animations look different, the graphics are less washed out without that blueish filter, the colors in the remake are warmer, less "grim", the bosses and npcs, even the enemies look somewhat different, in a way that another studio can't replicate. Elden Ring echoes a problem I've been noticing for the past couple of years now. As new graphics cards come out, more companies become lazy and don't optimize their games because they expect everyone to have overpriced graphics cards and they expect overpriced graphics cards to run anything they throw at them. Demon's Souls is a remake by a different studio, so they already had the base game and could focus on the graphical aspect and mechanics. Elden Ring started being developed in 2016 from scratch, so they worked really hard to be up to the current graphics. They both look good, but it's obvious that Demon's Soul remake was made made for next gen from the start and Elden Ring is trying it's best to keep up. Both studios did a great job.
Optimism for the win
Stfu and stop making excuses. What about all the other games released. For this gen? Did GT7 and horizon forbidden west have ugly last gen graphics? Isn't Fromsoft using the same animations in most of their games?
Elden ring was not made from scratch, it's literally the same engine they've always used, just expanded to a more open world. Everything down the animations is the same as DS3..
In fact Bluepoint put all new animation into demon's souls and retro fit it into the engine and timings, which is much harder.
Besides, Elden Ring is a massive open world. It makes sense that Demons Souls Remake, which is not open world, would have better graphics. Elden Ring might be losing (by a tiny bit) on the graphics in comparison with Demon Souls Remake, but it's 100% worthy of the Souls franchise. A true masterpiece.

Refund?
@@sulista4855 Nope, waiting for the game to get an update/mod hopefully in a few days otherwise probably yes it just breaks the immersion for me
Demons souls spoils you. When I first got into elden ring the low graphics floored me. And it felt so empty with no 3D sound and haptic feedback
Demon's Souls runs perfectly, steady 60fps, looks great, loads quick, real next gen experience, its just missing that From Software touch that Elden Ring has.
eh Demon souls is a From Software Game ?
@@nanofcb3024 so? this isn't comparing elden ring to FS's demon's souls, this is the remake, which was done by a different studio
@@Wakshak321 I know but it's the exact same game just with a new engine, so the world aesthetic and design is extremely faithful (almost to a fault imho) to the original from software game on ps3. That's why I'm surprised you said it lacks the From software touch since it's the exact same design and artistic vision that from had just with a better graphical engine and hardware obviously.
@@nanofcb3024 Its not the exact same game, the animations look different, the graphics are less washed out without that blueish filter, the colors in the remake are warmer, less "grim", the bosses and npcs, even the enemies look somewhat different, in a way that another studio can't replicate. Its all based on the original game with pretty much all locations, enemy placement etc being the same, but its the little things that its missing from the original that FS puts in their games, even Elden Ring, which the remake of DS doesn't have. Its still a good game like the original, for different reasons, but you can't possibly say its "the same just better"
@@Wakshak321 The Demon's Souls remake has different filters you can apply to the game. Sounds like you never played it.
Elden Ring echoes a problem I've been noticing for the past couple of years now.
As new graphics cards come out, more companies become lazy and don't optimize their games because they expect everyone to have overpriced graphics cards and they expect overpriced graphics cards to run anything they throw at them.
Video game companies have started to rely on us spending more money to run the game better, than actually making their game run better.
I said this when DLSS came out. Shit optimization? Slap some dlss on it, look at Dying Light 2.
@@Minecarftable exactly people would wonder why I argued against dlss so much when it came out, it's because of shit like this, bandaids don't heal wounds they just cover them up
Haha PC Master Race!
Yet you still pay. Lmao.
@@jackjax7921 not anymore, from now on I'm not buying anything at release, I'll just wait 6 months - a year later when the game is either fixed or half price
We really need a Demon souls like graphics mod for Elden ring or a Reshade preset. This would give Elden Ring more atmospheric immersion.
beside the graphics, demon's souls has awesome sound design
Elden Ring looks cartoonish and less detail hasn't got good lighting compared to Demons Souls which looks so much better but how does the game play held up between the two. I have seen reviews that Elden Ring stutters a lot on pc and has some issues unless that's all been fixed and patched out. Shame that Demons Soles isn't out for pc that would of looked even better
Impossible to compare. Two completely different games. It's like comparing an open world game to the detail of Detroit Become Human.
What? No way?!? Elden Ring is an open world and Demon's Souls isn't?!?! Who told you that?!? You'd have to be a genius to know that one. Thanks Captain obvious, we really needed your completely obvious insight.
@@bigdaddynero Man it must suck to be a virgin in your 30s
Wish elden ring could look more like demon soul especially the magic spell sound. So awesome
