HelloMeal! I visited several other HelloFresh reviews and yours was the only one that kept my interest and never got annoyed (as I did with all the others) because you just dived in and really went thru the whole process. I’ve been on this plan for several months so I was actually looking to see if there were any recalls or issues with the company. But - I have really enjoyed the recipes and can’t think of any that weren’t tasty or fresh. Whether I repeat an order is meal by meal. I do put the meals on hold anytime and always change the automatic selections. While I am a pretty good cook - I like the meals organized for me. Because I am single - my favorite part is cooking one and having leftovers. Ordering 3 meals weekly gives me 6. I’ll forward video to a friend who asked me about the plan and you did it so well! Your narrative and energy is great! Best of luck to you.
Thanks so much! I'm glad you found it useful and that it held your attention. I try to stick the important stuff and deliver it in a concise and hopefully pleasant way, so it makes me happy to hear that you appreciated that. I hope your friend gets something out of it! Also, since it was just me trying the meals, I enjoyed having the extra servings too! I'm looking forward to doing my next review since I have a few services I want to try before getting back to reviewing foods from restaurants and stores.
This was a really good review. I appreciate you breaking things down the way you did. I’ve always felt Hello Fresh meals were oddly flavored. Like they could taste better, but I’ve never been quite sure how to get them there. I haven’t tried them in a really long time though. I guess my biggest hesitation with them is I can get the ingredients at my local farmers market or grocery store and make it at home the same way without the extra price. I’m really glad I came across your review and channel!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I appreciate the feedback, especially with my channel being so new. I definitely wouldn't use the service at full price, so the discount codes are essential. On sale, it was reasonable considering you only get exactly what you need, so you're not buying bigger packs of things that you then have to store if you don't need it all or risk wasting. I thought the recipes were great as far as taste but any recipe might feel like it's missing something you can't quite pinpoint depending on preference. I think none of the seasoning blends were crazy things that couldn't be done with stuff already in the house so the recipes are easy to tweak if needed. Recipes for more international/regional dishes might be different. One of my concerns going into the review was quality control complaints but that may depend on where it's coming from. I'm in NY and I think my box shipped from here, so I wonder if complaints about spoiled ingredients came from people far from where HF ships. Anyway, thanks again for watching and commenting!
Congrats on your first order! I hope everything was good. Feel free to let me know if any recipes you chose really stood out to you. Thanks so much for watching!
I appreciate your hands on review. I don't understand people complaining about the cost, Hello Fresh is not a Church soup kitchen to deliver free meals. It's a convenience food service that looks pretty good for quality meals.
Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment! I think the price is great with the discounts. At regular price, it's steep for me compared to shopping and cooking myself. But it's still much cheaper than what most people spend on delivery etc. And it's still one of my favorite services I've reviewed so far.
Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment! I agree. While a lot of people choose these services for the whole week, it's nice to have it just be a substitute for a couple of meals to take a break on the weekend.
Oh I love this video. I subscribed. Thank you for the honest review. I don't know if you've tried them but emeals is an online meal planner. Cant wait to check out more reviews.
Totally agree with you. Had hellofresh for few months, then discount finished, needed to pay more also extra delivery fee, prices are not reasonable at all. But still Very good receipts and everything is sorted.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! It was a good experience and gave me some fun recipe ideas, but the claim so many of these companies make that it's cheaper than shopping needs a serious side eye 😐
Well as a person who is 61 and just my husband and I in the home the convenience of all the spices ect being given is awesome…..if u saw my spice drawer with tons of full bottles that have a couple times been used u would be shocked….or the food waste we have as im not able to just buy a couple carrotts ect……..i think, for 64 bucks for a couple meals would be worth it for us
Definitely! These kinds of services became so popular for a reason. It really can be more convenient and less wasteful. I'm glad you've been enjoying Hello Fresh!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that. I'm hoping the channel will grow more as I put out more reviews that people find useful. It's just hard to find the time sometimes. Thank you for watching!
I really like Hello Fresh;however, I simply do not understand how they bill. It’s like separate charges for each meal within the subscription.. I just don’t understand it!
Hi! Thanks for watching. I totally hear that. You basically ARE just paying by the meal, so it can be confusing that a lot of these services treat it like a "plan". I haven't found a service yet that really is like a subscription where you pay one flat fee every week and pick any meal on the list because it's all covered. That would be interesting!
Great video! Been curious about HelloFresh and this is the second review I've seen about the service. I don't know if it's for me as I'm wary of ordering groceries because quality of what you ordered may vary, package might get lost or stolen (especially when people are talking about how expensive eggs are these days). I like your avatar. I thought you would make the cheesecake instead of already being made. I think the lemon was for garnish.
Thanks for checking out the video! Those were exactly my worries when I started doing these reviews. I'm so picky about grocery shopping so trusting someone else to send me ingredients without a snag was lowkey stressful lol I'm happy to say I've been lucky with my reviews so far, but it's still something I worry about every time I place an order.
This not being a cooking channel is EXACTLY why I WANTED to see you chop it up. These things are supposed to be for people to save time and effort. As someone who doesnt have time and doesnt care enough to put in the effort. Im really trying to look at these reviews to see if the meals are worth the effort it takes to prepare (i.e., cut up and all that). Kinda sad you didnt include it.
Thanks for the feedback! I totally get why you'd want to see that, and I think most meal kit reviews do show themselves preparing everything so you get to see how long it takes them and what they have to deal with. My reviews are specifically not meant to be like those reviews, so the channel might not be a good fit if you want to see those bits. I still appreciate you taking the time to leave the comment about it!
I always thought about doing HelloFresh, but was turned off by the price. I calculated our food cost per week right now, and I must say, it's well worth it. We eat way more healthy doing HelloFresh, and this is worth the $20+ I was spending. We was doing fast food quite often, and that definitely gets expensive.
I'm really glad the price worked out for you! One thing meal kit services do well too is get people to eat different things. Especially if someone is used to takeout, they might order the same stuff all the time. Things like Hello Fresh encourage stepping out of that routine. Thanks so much for watching!
@@mealbeforeme and that was really becoming a thing. Ordering the same FF every week. I feel it was even becoming depressing lol the same bread, meat and cheese. Now we are almost forced (but in a good way) to try new things I would have never thought of trying.
I think the service is good but it's not for me. Id rather pay less and support my local stores. Finding new recipes is not difficult for me. I feel like the marketing is keeping this company afloat.
Thanks for commenting! A lot of people genuinely use the service. Especially with so many people these days having no interest in leaving the house for food. But I agree that marketing is why their service specifically is so popular. Not necessarily because it's the best out there. Though they are pretty good lol
It's the cost for me that makes it not worth it. Otherwise, I actually think it is a good idea. These types of all you need food services are always expensive!
Exactly! I think they work really well price wise for people who are spending even more eating out or who only buy pricy groceries at places like Whole Foods. If you already spend as little as you can, none of these services are cheaper. Thanks for watching!
They have gone dramatically downhill. So So many issues. Missing foods, and the worst not having insulated bags so the food goes bad and came warm several times. I used to order every week, now I am down to maybe once a month. I am here at this channel to look for another service. Most of my favorite meals have now been up charged, and my favorite The duck a l'orange has not been available for over a year. The fresh herbs have been mostly replaced with dried items...NOT what I want. The produce is not as fresh and nice as it had once been. I am an excellent home chef and enjoyed making the meals, but it is no longer a dependable service. Customer service always said they will escalate my issues, but after 2 years nothing has been done to rectify missing food and safety issues like ICE and insulation. If you can get it cold, and everything you ordered they do have some very good meals.
It's a shame that it's declined for you after years of using it. I feel like a lot of food related things have declined recently in general. Even restaurants in terms of quality or servings have gotten a bit worse yet more expensive. Thanks for visiting my channel. I hope you can discover a new service through it or at least head in the right direction!
IMO you have to spice tilapia up a little or you can't eat it. Old timey fish sticks are better. The professional fishermen around here have a bumper sticker for their pickups: "Tilapia is not seafood."
Haha! It's definitely not my first pick. Or any pick. I've enjoyed it most with Haitian preparations where it was fried and had a little kick from pikliz, their pickled vegetable relish with scotch bonnet pepper. So you're probably right about it generally needing to be spiced up. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Oh no! I feel the same way about Factor, which I think Hello Fresh recently bought. I wanted to review it for the channel but the posts about it all over reddit chased me away 💀
Thanks for watching! Sadly, it's UA-cam.😂When I speak more slowly, people say I'm taking too long or click off, so I try to speed through the informational stuff you can see on the website and slow down for the taste tests. I'll try to slow it down in the beginning bits too as best I can for you guys next time!
@@mealbeforeme that would be great. I particularly follow with better with a slow steady speaking. You're video was very informative and enjoyed your review of the food service. It may just be me. Looking forward to more content.
