It's lucky we have horses for heroes. Humans always seem to fall short.

Seabiscuit decided that he was fed-up with losing. Tom Smith opened the door for that little horse.

Yes, indeed. Her book is a classic. She manages, somehow, to bring all these wonderful characters back to life for us.

The original Seabiscuit book was by Ralph Moody. Come on Seabiscuit. Full of drama and character building. It's a Young Adult book which will captivate adult readers.

I consider the Seabiscuit book to be the greatest book I have ever read because of all the detail which was all accurate. She did a great job writing his story.
What a great interview. Learned some things. I heard he died at a younger age because the owner let him get too fat - he loved to eat & they always had to watch his weight. Being a shorter horse, that does make sense.
    Would love to visit someday.😅

He apparently had a heart attack and I understand that excess weight is not a cause of the electrical problem that seems to be thecause of most equine heart attacks just hope he is RIP

One of her BS inaccuracies was that Seabiscuit was shorter than War Admiral.

Kerstin Kappl, later that became Secretariat. He set records that still haven't been broken. Greatest horse in horse racing history.

Seabiscuit was raced for far too long, and far too much. No one can tell me all that wear and tear didn't play a role in his early death

the story of seabiscuit has been skewed so much. he was not a rags to riches horse at all. the movie made it out that tom smith was this great trainer that got this cheap horse from a bad trainer and turned him into a champion. truth of the matter is that arguably the greatest trainer in racing history sunny jim fitzsimmons trained seabiscuit to 5 stakes victories before the horse was sold to charles howard for $8,000.00. that was a whole lot of money in the mid 1930s. could buy a nice home for $8k in 1936. side note. it is documented that seabiscuit was given steroids.
