the story of seabiscuit has been skewed so much. he was not a rags to riches horse at all. the movie made it out that tom smith was this great trainer that got this cheap horse from a bad trainer and turned him into a champion. truth of the matter is that arguably the greatest trainer in racing history sunny jim fitzsimmons trained seabiscuit to 5 stakes victories before the horse was sold to charles howard for $8,000.00. that was a whole lot of money in the mid 1930s. could buy a nice home for $8k in 1936. side note. it is documented that seabiscuit was given steroids.

Finish line fence has now killed two of my horses. Do not use the fence that stretches don't use electric braid. The stretch may seem safe but is the opposite. It is a trap. It is an easy way for horses to get loops on them and it will kill them, I woke up to Philly last week dead with one loop around its neck and last year a two-year-old gelding got a loop around its leg, degloved its leg and cut a tendon. The horse had to be put down. Do not use. Spence stretches was properly installed to manufacture specifications with two of electric.

My gelding in 2011 was struck from lightening and he within an hour was suffering from extreme colic and was violently rolling and crashing to the ground i was able to get a vet and got him to the clinic.. where he a few days later ended up foundering and we were able to get the farrier on board asap and was able to treat it using specific shoeing methods.. my gelding is now 28 and suffers mentally during thunder and lightening storms and has started to colic during these times of stress.. i believe that horses memories are long term and so if a horse is under such a condition the owners must pay closer attention to their horses and be ready at all times to remedy their situations and having multiple vets phone #'s on a board or somewhere near the horse for easy access is essential because walking a horse who is in distress does not always allow you to go searching for #'s let alone dialing them so if you can put them on your cell phone on speed dial!! Luckily weve only had 1 vet call and ive been able to handle the situation myself through some guidance over the phone!! I found this article very accurate and informative and recommended every horse owner or enthusiasts to watch it just may save a horses life!!! Thank you for sharing this video!!

I consider the Seabiscuit book to be the greatest book I have ever read because of all the detail which was all accurate. She did a great job writing his story. What a great interview. Learned some things. I heard he died at a younger age because the owner let him get too fat - he loved to eat & they always had to watch his weight. Being a shorter horse, that does make sense. Would love to visit someday.😅
