    92-98 is the best era of Tool. Undertow is a masterpiece for a first full album for a Rock band. The raw angst is dripping all over it and Maynards vocals are at their best. Danny Octopus Arms Carey is the true Rock star of this band. He makes simple constructed riffs sound so much intricate and complex giving Tool their signature back beat. Definitely an original minded band with each member being a integral part of the music and direction.

    How does this only have 15,000 views after a full year? This is a god damn national treasure and deserves to be archived some place better then UA-cam's servers.

      Seen em 12 times since lollapalooza 1993. Best of them was August 9th, 1998. Complete with golden bible, Maynard had boobs, holy hole/pole maynardisms. They were at the peak of their intensity and aggression, imo.

    I had my near-death motorcycle accident here in New Zealand in 1990 when I was 26. Ultimately I lost my entire left leg plus hip and left side of my pelvis plus I suffered numerous other internal internal injuries as well. I failed to negotiate a right hand bend on the open road at speed and I fell off my bike and slid in to a farmer's paddock concrete fence post where I instantly amputated my left leg at the knee. I wasn't knocked unconscious. Spent 2 weeks in the Intensive Care Unit of 2 hospitals. Spent a total of 101 days in hospital. I recovered relatively quick as I was very fit from being an athlete; road cyclist and marathon runner. I continued in sport after my accident and began competing in half marathons using crutches on my one good right leg. Then I managed to complete a full marathon on crutches on my one good right leg in 1992. I completed 2 full marathons on crutches in 1994. During the second marathon held in November a friend pulled up alongside me on the other side of the road (he was a fellow road cyclist). As we were both into music he yelled out to me 'Hey have you heard this shit man?' And he cranked his car stereo speakers to max volume. I could hear some pretty cool rock music that I had never ever heard like it before in my life. I yelled out to him 'Who is it?' He yelled back; 'TOOL - it's their first album titled Undertow'. Now at the time I was feeling a little fatigued during my marathon. I think it was about the 25km mark and I had 17km to go before the finish. I guzzled some flat (degassed) coca cola down with carb shots - great instant energy. I could feel my energy pick up and while listening to TOOL - Undertow the energy of the music seemed to transfer in to my mind/body/soul and WOW did I crank out the next 17km on those hospital use aluminum alloy elbow crutches!!!!!! I thought I was going to FLY! I have never forgotten that marathon on crutches in 1994! My friend stayed with me for like something like all of Side One so I listened to 'Intolerance', 'Prison Sex', 'Sober', 'Bottom', 'Crawl Away', 'Swamp Song', 'Undertow', and maybe '4 Degrees'. After that marathon I went and bought the Undertow CD. And I have been a dedicated and loyal Tool listener ever since. I completed 6 half and 6 full marathons on crutches on my one good right leg from 1991 to 1998 all over here in New Zealand. Thank you TOOL very much appreciated. LOVE & RESPECT to you all.

      Thanks for sharing your extraordinary ordeal to say the least. I can sympathize. Two years ago I was permanently disabled, lost my right leg 4 inches above the knee, crushed my left legs tibia, broke my fibula, dislocated my patella, 2 infections caused permanent foot drop and that knee won't bend past 70°. Lost about 60% of my buttocks requiring a permanent colostomy bag, broken nose, jaw and facial bones, severed right hand tendon which my hand is only 50% functional at best. I'm right handed. All this caused when a co worker in a 30 ton forklift turned into me as I was walking away, knocked me out, med flighted me to the hospital where I remained for 6 1/2 months and 18 surgeries. I was a truck driver and these lifts are used to move 40ft containers. To say I'm lucky to be alive is an understatement nevermind I'm able to slowly walk with a cane or walker. Tool is music that brings positive vibes into my life and the original creativity within these guys is truly awe inspiring. It made me not focus on the negativity but more so on the positive capabilities this can bring. We are not given a guarantee in life that shit won't happen to us and it sometimes can add up, especially at the Bottom, but once you learn from whatever you can from it, you can proceed to understand that very fact. We are not guaranteed anything. No matter who you are or what you've done life has its own plans for you and whether your nice or an asshole that fact can either shine bright on you or take away the light. How you deal with that is what makes you into who you are. Be well man 🙏🏽

    • @blindmelonlemonjello
      @blindmelonlemonjello 3 роки тому +1

      It was absolutely not musical differences. You know the track message to Harry man back?
      That guy who stole all their stuff and ransacked their house was some lunatic Paul hooked up with at a occult ritual and they didn't want that kinda bad "element"
      Around them. Idk where I read that it was in the 90's in one the popular music trade magazines at the time.. edit: if you can find the early live MC'd by Jesus Justin comes on stage and Paul leaves. It was during 96 tour I believe. It's on YT I've seen it.
