The Uncertain Future of Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point

- On September 6th 2022 Cedar Point released a statement speaking on the future of Top Thrill Dragster. After reading this statement it hard to know exactly what that future holds. In this video I cover a few predictions I think could be in store for Cedar Point's Tallest roller coaster! Also just a quick channel update as well. Hope everyone is doing great!

I saw the announcement the moment I woke up this morning and was devastated for a solid moment. After talking with some people in a cedar point discord I’m in we stared getting more hopeful for what the sections you pointed out meant. “As you know it…” “Creating a new and reimagined ride experienced.” As much as I am still very much glad that TTD will most likely be staying, I’m still pretty distraught over not having been able to experience it in its original form.
yeah me too, its really sucks that i'll never be able to experience the origional, but i am exited to see what cedar point will do with it.
I’m in that’s server too! I was really scared, I’ve never ridden TTD, and ik I won’t be able to get the OG credit, but at least it’s seemingly staying somehow

I saw the notification for a new video. Only problem I have is your videography and editing are so good and high quality I will only watch your videos in 4K on my 65" TV. It's like watching a movie everytime and I actually feel like I'm right there with you as you narrate. It's like an IMAX documentary for coasters. Please take as much time as you need we will all be here awaiting your over the top content and your gentlemanly southern drawl guiding us through they way you see the theme park world.

Your amusement park videos are hands down the best I've seen. I've completed your library of videos and alway waiting for the next one. I have told some friends about your channel and alway referred to them as mini documentaries as I feel so much work go into your videos that they deserve a better title then video. One of, if not my absolute favorite Coaster/Theme park Channels 💯 Would love to hear your actual thoughts on what exactly TTD is going to become. Especially with all the developments this last month. Why is your bottom line, best educated guess as to what the ride we once knew as TTD is going to be reimagined to look like when it re-opens?

I really want it to be rethemed to Disaster Transport with a themed protected queue building. Have some sort of theming on the launch and brakes welcoming you to Alaska when you get off the ride. I know they won't want any ride (especially this one) to be themed to a disaster, but it's what I want.
Make the ride that is the most like going to space in the park themed to going to space (and landing in Alaska for some reason)

They want to distance themselves from that accident. They are going to give this ride a complete overhaul and make it safer. I think that entire area will get a complete renovation.

@@alegsb3943 idk exactly. Just meaning it will have new trains, a reverse spike, a few elements as well. There is a little room there. The plot is like 1300ft long and 200 ft wide
Honestly the only thing I probably want to change is the launch with the same power but with electromagnets. I really want the layout and theme to stay the same because:
1. The ride will take less time to be worked on.
2. It's original when it opened and great as it is.
3. The theme matches the ride pretty well and I couldn't imagine anything different.
This and El Toro why does it have to be all of Intamin's good rides going down? Why can't it be their bad ones for a change?

Seems they are painting the supports a gray color from heading to the back of top thrill dragster and a bunch of "Raceway" or "Racing" little painted things all near the ride. Either reimagining it as a sort of dragster strip or turning it into something else. I have no idea.

I've been wondering if they already need to get new trains, if they would add motorbike seating
I definitely think they will switch to an LSM launch, and new trains that are possibly lighter to reduce rollback potential. The wishful, and more far fetched part of me thinks that extending the ride's layout after coming down from the top hat isn't totally out of the realm of possibility, but highly unlikely. They could turn and continue the ride in the direction of Iron Dragon. However, Iron Dragon's land is pretty prime for a big new coaster too in the future, if they want to use that land when the time comes. I'm glad the ride isn't going away outright though, and I'm glad I was able to ride a couple of times when I went in 2018.

Here's my oddity with theming.
With the resurgence and popularity of Formula 1, I feel they may have gained a sponsor to help with the rebuild.
Any of the teams could have dropped some coin to help rufurb the piece.
I'm guessing they re-theme and make it an LSM launch.
why didn't they add LSM long ago?

Another channel saying it's just getting rebranded and a new launch system. That's not innovative or new and it's still pretty much as we know it. I think they are trying to come up with something new and original. What that could be while using the existing structure I don't know.

Tallest and Fastest coming back to the point!!! 500+ 150mph. All the speculation about reduction in height is insane to me. They cannot go smaller, slower.

@@realthrills5448 Yes, the past history with that ride is horrific from an employee standpoint. Multiple major maintenance headaches, numerous problems and system breakdown and weather conditions that shut down the 'highest most unreliable piece of shit ride in the history of the park.

TTD's fossil fuel theme is getting old. In 2022, its launch has more in common with an electric car than an actual dragster.
