Shawn, when you retire,it’s game over at that dealership, then it just like all the other mediocre motorcycle shops. Kindest regards from Bonnie Scotland. Joe.
I admire that you stick to your principles of doing things correctly. There's a right way to do things and that's it! There's nothing wrong with you getting upset when you see things done incorrectly again and again. I assembled hundreds of motorcycles in my day, and I could tell the ones I assembled easily. Hang in there buddy, you're closing in on retirement,,,,and it's wonderful,,,lol.
100% agree. I'm here because Smoak does it by the book. It's bizarre that this mindset seems to be absent from so many dealerships. We appreciate you, Smoak! Much respect.
Just when I think you're a guru at moto mechanics, I came across Matt working on a very rare hill climber at "Wheels Through Time". He's following in his late father's footsteps. When you're working on machinery, it's either right or it's not. 👍👍
The bloke that services my RS started way back in 1968. His first service job, after his apprenticeship, was an R75/5 BMW and he's never worked on any other brand since. I'll miss him when he retires.
Let’s not forget the press release’s that HD will produce 2025 Pan Americas ‘temporary’ in Thailand. Glad yours is a Made In America model. You and I are very similar with using specs, manuals, procedures. That old adage of if you want it done right do it yourself, hard for me to understand how some people will always take shortcuts or not do something the way it was meant to be done. Oh well, great video Sir..
I sat on a 1300 GSA at my dealer last week. It wasn’t ASA and didn’t have the vehicle ride height option, but it was too tall for my 29” inseam. It also leans further over on the kickstand than my 1250 GSA (factory low), so it was really difficult to get off the kickstand and upright. I guess it might work for me with a comfort low seat and ride height option, but we’ll see. AltRider has also come out with an adjustable kickstand for the 1300, adjustable in increments out to 2 inches.
The shop I bought my 2023 R 1250 GS was wonderful, was able to wrangle a 7 year factory warranty. Motorad weekend event bonus. The service techs, on the other hand couldn’t care less about proper service. Really is a shame, I have no other choice. So I know what exactly what you’re talking about.
That the difference when u care about what you are doing and you are very lucky that you love what u do witch helps alot also and ya automatic bike must be strange for sure
You are so correct, employees don't care if they do a good job or not. Just there to complain that they are not getting paid enough. I worked for the county for almost 30 years. The last 10 years were the worst. People just got lazy and dumb. And management did not care. Elected officials were just there to promote their agenda.
Hi. I’ve missed the blog telling us about retirement or no longer being there, because you keep saying this will be ‘last one’. Are you stopping work, or moving to another set up? When? I hope you’ll still be posting here? From England, UK
I have started to order the stuff for my PanAm. The rad guard is supposed to be here in the morning. I have to keep an eye on what happens with politics and Trump. I may have to order in the other stuff I need sooner than planned if we go into a tariff war. I sure hope not. I may make a trip down that way on my PanAm either this or next year. If I do I will be sure to touch base with you and see if you have time for me to buy you dinner.
I honestly believe all the high tech was designed for the younger generation as they just love pushing buttons for everything. Unfortunately most of their generation don't have the $$ to buy new. Same with auto's. The boxer 1300's have the tractor like sound. At 71, I never get tired of clutching and shifting my motos. I love simple--a simple guy.!! 👍👍
I’m all for the autos. Sometimes shifting is a royal pain in the a## would, love an Auto on my chieftain 🤷♂️🤷♂️ after 6 hours I’m all tired of shifting gears to be honest.
I may or may not end up with one, but I am just glad to see so many options coming out. More options means this sport is more accessible to more people.
When they have to go through the menu, they become unfriendly to users that are used top pushing a button and something happens like the wind screen goes up or down..

Pity you guys won’t be a BMW dealer anymore 😢
I would love to have the new one with ASA but can’t afford a BMW. I guess I’ll go with the new Africa Twin AS ES DCT.

Auto motorcycles are great if you have arthritis and when stuck in a traffic jam.
That's a great point, they're definitely helpful in those situations!
😄🖤🙏
So true, you can’t even pay people to do their job now.
I don’t know the answer, it is not getting any better.
No one takes the time to read any more.
Love my BMW s1000r hate buying oem parts there like 4x the price of Yamaha, etc.
Sir, please retire AFTER 100k views. It will give the rest of a chance to learn more from you.
Be missing the beamer stuff here too. 🥲😎🏍💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦🍻
