@@AnimalsDescriptions I was reading about a breed made in Russia they call it Sulmove dog. In the bigging they said it is a cross bred of Laponion herder dog and Golden Jackal. Now I knew that golden jackal is a wolf not a Jackal. Im very interested in sniffing abilities of dogs and I want to make same Sulimov dog !!!
@@peaceandlove5214 The Sulimov dog is a jackal-dog hybrid originating in Russia from an initial hybrid between two Lapponian Herders and two Turkmen golden jackals.
Based on the fact that they are in the Genus (Canis) "true dog" not Genus (Lupulella) "true jackal", and are more related to Gray wolves (Canis lupus), Domestic dog (Canis familiaris) etc and can and does breed with the Genus (Canis) that does result in offspring. I call them Eurasian jackal wolf (Canis aureus) a canidae of the Genus (Canis) that looks jackal-wolf'ish. As based on the current info Eurasian jackal wolves (Canis aureus) and African black backed jackals (Lupulella mesomelas) or the African Side-striped jackal (Lupulella adusta) can't breed and bare offspring, so shouldn't be referred to as just Jackals that gives the impression they are grouped with there African (Lupulella) relatives. So i only refer to the African Jackals of the Genus (Lupulella) as just Jackals.
@Zebedee madness, actually, this is why jackals are a polyphyletic group, in fact the Golden Jackal (Canis Aureus) was discovered before the african jackals and the coyote is more often counted as a jackal as well, while both the golden jackal and coyote still remain within the genus Canis, the african jackals are now relocated to a separate genus (Lupulella), the Short-Eared Jackal (Atelocynus Microtis) is the most convergently evolved from all the other species, as the short-eared jackal's actual closest living relatives are the Bushdog (Speothos Venaticus) and Maned Wolf (Chrysocyon Brachyurus), all three genera comprise the subtribe Chrysocyonina within the tribe Cerdocyonini, while the other four jackal species native to Africa and the northern hemisphere are actually part of the subtribe Canina of the tribe Canini, this classification more appropriately treats Canini as exclusively an old world lineage of modern dogs (also known as canines) in fact the genera Vulpes, Alopex, Otocyon, Nyctereutes, Lupulella, Lycaon, Cuon, and Canis all originated in the old world and should be most closely related to each other.
@@indyreno2933 The Prairie wolf (Canis latrans) "Coyote" these days are not referred to as American jackal (Personally in my life time, i've never heard them referred to as a "Jackal", Coyote defiantly, Jackal not). The "Golden jackal" that was given the name Jackal meaning (the howler), that then gave its Jackal name to the Eurasian counterparts of Golden jackal-wolf (Canis aureus), was likely the "Golden jackals" of North Africa after the Egyptian jackal god Anubis. But we now know the what was "Golden Jackals" of North Africa aren't "Golden jackals" but a different species the African wolf (Canis lupaster), that has a more direct ancestral line to Grey wolve (Canis lupus), where Golden jackal-wolf (Canis aureus) are the most Basal (Primitive) of the living genus (Canis). Short-eared dog (Atelocynus microtis) I've never heard them referred to as "Jackals" they are related to the Golden maned dog (Chrysocyon brachyurus) and bush dog (Speothos venaticus), but are most related to, but not directly related to the Crab eating dog (Cerdocyon thous).
3:07 this was the color and the shape that I saw last year so it is Golden Jackal.
Very informative and well presented.
To my untrained eye they look very much like wolves ( the silhouette/outline )
Fun fact: Male golden jackal is the only animal known to babysit regularly.
3:56 it was like this one I think.
Is it true that they are classified as a wolf now?
They are wolf-like canids and in same genus with wolf and coyote. Classified in same genus with wolf.

Acabei de descobrir a polêmica a respeito do chacal dourado e o agora considerado uma espécie à parte , lobo dourado africano ( canis anthus ).
